My husband and I frequent Belly Busters often. This morning was not so good for my breakfast. I ordered two eggs over easy, home fries and corned beef hash. I received eggs almost well done. Corned beef hissed was burnt. I ordered white toast and received wheat toast. I played around with the food. I ate perhaps 10% of the home fries. Our watress was extremely nice. Her name was Alda. I have to admit that after all the perfect experiences that yesterday a Sunday I have never been there other that Saturday or during the week but I don't think the owner who I think is the friendly gentleman who is always cooking at the center of the window was not there. The food was over cooked for all 4 of us. Burnt hash with the Eggs Benedict and overcooked eggs with 2 of the other 3 meals and the waitress did not bring my mothers bread which she ordered. My mother specially asked for just plain white bread no toast with nothing on it and finally had to ask her for it and she delivers buttered bread which my mother ended up not eating because it was buttered. When asked if she could have a refill on her coffee the waitress was rude and acted as though we were bothering her. Normally I tip 35 to 40% here but today I only tipped 20% and I should not have tipped at all for the $49 worth of bad service and garbage food served. read more

Not sure how long the renovations have been in place but it's certainly brighter than before and with better seats. I used to come for the insanely big breakfasts, but I mainly stick with the pork pie which, if you add the gravy, almost shamefully decadent. read more

Messed up mine and my friends food. My friend asked for sausage omelet and she got a ham omelet. And then I asked for my corn beef Benedict and I asked to make sure that they could ensure it can be crispy and they said yes. But the corned beef was not crispy, it was soggy like dog food. I'm not the type to write a review but I'm making an exception for this place. It's absolutely terrible. I've lived in Billerica for 25+ years and I remember a time when this restaurant earned its place as the "go-to town diner" but those days are long gone. I've had a bad experience every time I've gone there for the last decade but the Billerica lover in me always convinced me to go back. This last time was my last time. First of all they "remodeled" the place and any aesthetic has left the building, it's completely bare bones and the cozy diner feeling they once had is no longer present. The service is always terrible, the waitress was completely inattentive and smug as they've all been every time I've gone there in recent years. I've come to the conclusion they must all be friends with the owner or something cause they can't possibly have these jobs based on merit. The food portions have been dramatically downsized since the last time I've dined there, that's not something I'd complain about usually but I'll add it in for good measure. I ordered the belly Buster special with French toast; 90% of the plate was a massive helping of home fries that were not bad, I'll give em that. The sausage was bone dry, the bacon was fine I guess, the toast had 0 crunch and wasn't easy to bite a piece off of but the real stand out was the French toast. Oh my, it must have been made out of cardboard, there wasn't a hint of moisture in them, there wasn't a hint of flavor in them. They were a complete failure. My sister got an omelette, when she cut it open raw egg ran out, how do you undercook an omelette? My lady friend got steak tips and eggs, the tips lacked any type of seasoning. She asked for the eggs well done (weird, I know) but they looked like they hit the flat top for 3 whole seconds. I didn't ask if the tips were cooked the way she asked but I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't. Little brother got the same as me and as a teenager who usually tears a big breakfast apart he ate maybe 20% of it and said it was "trash" lol. Went here Thanksgiving Morning...as they were open. This morning I had a couple of eggs, cooked medium, toast, fries and 2 blueberry pancakes. Yeah, I know...why I am eating so much on Thanksgiving morning! Anywho...didn't finish the home fries. These are grilled and they're ok I guess...a little paprika and onion powder are clearly evident. Eggs...perfect. Good toast...and the pancakes...wow, really good. Plenty of blueberries and warm butter slathered throughout...and there is a slightly crispy outer layer on these things...the batter isn't too thick either...the pancakes are just fluffy enough. They offer your typicaly not-really-maple-syrup-syrup...which is fine. I might pay extra to get some real stuff tho...especially on these pancakes. Our waitress was really cool...and very optimistic for being open on Thanksgiving morning. I had commented on how I was surprised they were open that morning...in which she replied, "I know! Isn't it exciting?!"...with a cute smile and without any biting sarcasm either...I like optimistic people. :) Still cash only...I am almost inclined to give them 4 stars. Almost. I recently moved into town and was in search of a local spot to grab some great breakfast. I stumbled upon this diner and immediately fell in love with that small town look. Upon entering the diner I was greeted by A member of their staff and seated at the breakfast bar in front of the diner. I ordered the country omelette and hashbrowns which was more than enough food for me and another full-grown man! The prices are great and the coffee is some of the best that I have ever had. It was a five star in the beginning.... I'm not sure if they changed ownership or chefs. But in the beginning, I would order weekly and I would always get my order correct. After ordering 5 times, they started forgetting stuff in the order. I would bring it home and open it and see things missing like butter for pancakes, sauces, the pancakes, seasoning for potatoes. I'm not sure what they used to put on the potatoes, it was a red seasoning, maybe paprika? I loved it, but after a while, they started putting less and less and eventually they don't put any on anymore. Another downside is that they don't have the traditional brown tasty sausages, they switched to another brand that is horrible...It's reddish tinted, a little bit wider than the previous sausages and completely different flavor... I've stopped coming here for that reason. Service is usually rushed, which is understandable, it's a little breakfast joint and people need to get in a get out for the next customers but still! Food was o.k. Started with a grilled blueberry muffin - just o.k. Husband ordered an omelete, FOUR EGGS, huge but not a lot of flavor. I ordered poached eggs, toast, bacon and homefries. Service was decent. Not a lot of customers. When we sat down, the menus we were given had food and ketchup smeared on them. The seat coverings in many of the booths were ripped, torn and worn. The base of the seating was peeled and chipped. There was plenty of waitstaff because we could hear them chatting away while waiting for customers to wait on. Apparently there's a bird flu going around which means they jack up the price of your meal due to eggs costing "$80/case" not sure what the old price was but to charge an extra 50 cents per meal is ridiculous. What a HUGE disappointment! After another night of crappy sleep, I threw myself into the car on a Sunday morning in search of a fantastic breakfast. I remember some coworkers mentioning this restaurant and how great it was. I arrive only to realize I'm about 20 mins early - so I just chilled with the radio. Seriously 5 mins before 7, at least 3 or 4 other cars pulled up, and burly truck driver type men were hustling in the door. I scurried behind them and within another 10 mins at least a dozen patron were waiting for joe and grub with ONE WAITRESS to deliver the goods. I have to admit, this waitress was sharp as a tack. For the most part, I rarely saw her take out her order pad and pen. Even with my substitutions on their Belly Buster Special, she never batted an eye, repeated my order and whisked away to delve out the coffee. The Elvis decor was a slight distraction as I realized most of the diners knew each other and got on with their gab fest. My plate arrived quickly. Too quickly. I had pancakes that were stiff, potatoes that were just cooked enough to be slightly soft but still white (I specifically asked for well done, as with the bacon), bacon that was still squealing - I could see the white fatty part, and sausage. The sausage was just little sad round pucks with at least a little bit of seasoning. It's bad when the only thing good about your full breakfast is THE ORANGE JUICE. read more

Although my parents go to this diner at least once every couple of months, I went for for the first time yesterday. Yes, it's a townie diner. Get over it. If you want ambiance and a demographic mix of people who will get dressed up for brunch, go elsewhere; if you want cheap & tasty food from a well-run locally-owned business and don't care what it looks like as long as it's clean, go here. We were seated immediately and the wait staff were attentive, friendly, and talkative the entire time. Never-ending coffee (good when I needed three and a half cups to keep myself awake) was offered almost instantly; I never had to ask for refills and only once for what was ample amounts of cream). The portions were extremely generous. I got a cheddar cheese and mushroom omelet (it's a *four* egg omelet although for $1 less it can be 2 eggs for smaller appetites) that came with homefries and toast. The omelette was delicious, filled with cheese from end to end and chock full of flavourful mushrooms. The homefries were delightful. I'm gluten free, so I couldn't eat the toast; they replaced it with two strips of bacon at no extra charge, and made that bacon perfectly to my "crispy but not too crispy" specifications. My father had the french toast and while I obviously couldn't touch it due to its gluten content, it looked and smelled fantastic -- and they got his "limp" bacon specification perfect as well. Note: they serve breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner -- but they close at 2pm. I can't vouch for their lunch or dinner options but I was impressed that they offered so many British dishes and I look forward to trying those. read more

I've been to many Breakfast Diners and this one was near the bottom for me. I ordered the Belly Buster special and while the food was plentiful, the flavor was not. The 2 pancakes, although quite large, tasted like bland cornbread, not pancakes. The eggs were unseasoned(salt & pepper) and the home fries were undercooked and tasted like vinegar. The Bacon was cooked perfectly however, the only good tasting part of the meal. The service was fantastic and commendable, but make sure you bring cash for tipping them as they are unable to add gratuity to the credit card. For me, I will most likely not return again. read more

Had a very average experience here. There's a lot of breakfast options! I went with the egg, two pieces of toast, home fries, and kielbasa combo. It was solid and only costed $6.50. It's usually hard to find a diner that offers small-sized combos, so I was happy to see this, My friends who stuck to the basic breakfast dishes were also happy with their meals. The broccoli cheddar omelette that my friend ordered looked really underdone. The broccoli on the inside didn't looked too cooked. But that didn't outdo the disgusting chocolate chip waffle that another friend ordered... There was an absolutely gigantic glob of butter on it. Seriously, it was like a fourth of a stick! I felt grossed out just looking at it. He barely touched the waffle as a result. I don't recommend ordering drinks. They are overpriced and straight from the carton. My cranberry juice tasted worse than Tropicana's! Service was OK, but I felt like my waitress didn't like us. My friend (who is from Australia and was suffering from a horrible hangover), asked for some freshly squeezed orange juice. She scoffed and said, "well, you're not going to find that here." It's tough to find a good bowl of oatmeal in Billerica, so I go to Belly Buster when my parents visit. The portions are generous and I'm definitely a fan of Biscuits & Gravy, something I didn't expect to find on the menu. This place has the look and feel of a small-town diner, with old vinyl booths and pictures of Elvis on the walls. The bathroom is the size of one you'd find on an airplane. All of this adds to the charm. This is not my favorite place for brunch and the food is pretty standard -- it isn't bad, it's just nothing special. The prices are very reasonable, but you pay for what you get. And, as for the name, it's definitely ridiculous. Maybe it's cute for kids, I don't know, but I'd be just as happy if it was called the Billerica Diner. This place closes after lunch, so don't expect a Belly Buster dinner. read more

I've had a few different items off the breakfast menu and my favorite is the pancakes. They are really good and I'm absolutely positive they are fat free...er, at least that's what I tell myself. It's not better than average but I walk out of here content and full. Admittedly, they may make the best pancakes I have ever had. It seems like a tough crowd here in the AM. We don't get attitude or anything and I feel comfortable but you'll see what I mean if you ever make a weekend morning visit. The staff, depending on who you get can vary, from very friendly and smiley to all about business. We haven't had bad service here yet but some mornings we don't get any small talk (some of you may not be morning people, that might work for you). The pricing is on par with the food and in my opinion is good value. Between the two of us our bill with tip is around $20. When we have to go here because we don't have the time for our normal breakfast joint I'm not turned off by it. I'm glad it's less than a ten minute drive away from home and it's never been a bad meal. In fact I would say it's a 2.5 star but the pancakes push it to a solid 3. Let me get the -1 Star out of the way first, because it is by far, the least important part of the review: I knocked off 1-star simply because their selection of hot sauces was limited to Tabasco. I like a place with a variety to choose from a few different ones. At least give me a choice between Tabasco and Frank's! Carrying nothing but Tabasco seems lazy to me. Hot sauces, like beer and coffee come in so many varieties these days, you can't have just one! And Tabasco is basically the Bud Lite of hot sauces :) Now the positives: This is a GREAT "Greasy Spoon" diner! I sat at the counter and had coffee in front of me before my coat was off. My order was taken as soon as I the menu was closed, and food was in front of me in less than 10 minutes! I ordered my usual, which I order pretty much everywhere, and use as gauge to compare places; Veggie omelette w/ provolone, no toast, extra home fries, coffee, and a side of bacon. Omelette was huge. 4-eggs compared to 3 for most places. Decent amount of home fries, which had great texture and flavoring. Bacon perfectly cooked. Coffee was good, though not great. I'm a coffee snob, so if the food's great, I'll let the coffee quality slide if it's not horrible. This was definitely good coffee! I will definitely give them my business in the future. Typical straightforward diner food...well prepared, inexpensive, and quality for the price. Nothing seems to be more than $10 ever...even lamb doesn't top out over $10. I have order standard breakfast fare each time...basically $5...scrambled eggs,toast, home fries, and corned beef hash. It came out piping hot,and it filled the Styrofoam container, with the eggs covering the corned beef hash. (I hope to add a picture). My only complaint is that they use oil on the griddle to cook the corned beef hash, and used a bit much. The excess hot oil ran off the corned beef hash and melted a hole in the corner of the Styrofoam container. Other than that, a high recommendation, but not a perfect one, because truthfully, I have only eaten breakfast there. read more
