Well, we have been buying a lot of inventory for our online ETSY Store and ahead of tariffs kicking in so we have run some credit cards up. I'm kind of sad to read the negative reviews from others on this place. I have been here a few times and the employees have always been friendly and easy to converse with when I come in. Oxford is located off the corner of 36th and Arctic in a small nondescript building next to an empty storefront that once housed Kobe restaurant. Oxford mainly specializes in selling gold and silver bars, as well as coins, American currency normally not seen in regular businesses. They also custom mint coins and they will buy any form of gold and silver that you are looking to sell. I have started investing in gold not too long ago after my Roth IRA and stocks purchased over the years have been going up and down dramatically on value. This has worried me over time because usually when you have nest eggs like this, they are supposed to provide financial security in your later years. The economy today is unpredictable and I have been observing the value of gold increase exponentially in the past year. I never paid close attention to it until just recently as gold continues to go up in price while the American dollar and other world currency goes down with everything that you see on the news today. Not to deviate from the place itself, but this is the only place in Anchorage where you can buy gold and silver bars or bullion with little difficulty. Keep in mind that I'm speaking from a long-term perspective for building a nest egg. With gold prices increasing, it is easy to turn around and sell it for more than the price it was originally purchased for. I sold a them the gold and silver it took me almost 20 years to collect because I needed the money right away. They were going to pay me spot prices for a couple silver statues which I didn't sell as that was too big a loss for me to take. That seems like buying a show model Porsche and paying scrap metal prices for it. Anyway the worst part is as far as I'm concerned they handed me a check they couldn't cover. I am old school and if I write a check I have the money to cover it right then. My check is as good as cash. If I don't have that much cash in the bank right then I do not right the check. Apparently not them. I realize a person needs to wait a day usually for the check to clear. Out of a nearly 20,000 sale the next day I got $225, 4 days later I get 5,300 and finally 3 days later I should get the remaining 12,000+. I haven't seen the last part yet. It should show up a day after I needed it. I wouldn't mind so much if they had explained that to me but I was not told I would need to wait 8 days for all the money to trickle in. If I had been told I would have sold them what they could actually pay for right then and gone elsewhere with the rest. In summery I'll say they are fast to grab your savings but slow to pay for it. I've bought gold and silver from here and have sold gold back. Always a quick and easy experience. I have read some of the other reviews and it seems that those who are complaining don't really understand how the market works. Of course as with anything online is always cheaper, I don't go here to save money I go here to have an instant transfer. Silver I bought here was on par with online prices from Apmex. I paid $0.5 more per ounce then the wire transfer option online. I paid $90 over spot for an ounce of gold (online wanted $110) they paid spot for the gold I sold them. If you want gold or silver in your hand that day I find they have a large selection and reasonable prices. If you want cash they offer spot.
