I've been a loyal customer of Skiis & Biikes for many years and often bring in two bikes annually for tune-ups and any needed parts. One bike has a lifetime tune-up card. In past years, when I misplaced the card, staff could confirm my information in their system and honor the service. This year, I called ahead and was told they would not honor it without the physical card. I was disappointed, given my long-standing history with the shop. I decided to take both bikes to Bike Zone instead. Tune-ups cost $159.99, with an additional $380 spent on parts and labor -- business that could have stayed with Skiis & Biikes. This review is about ski tuning in Mississauga. I use my skis for club competitions. They were in good, but not perfect condition, so I brought them to the service. Before I sharpened my and my friends' skis myself and if I gave myself ten stars, the skis and bikes would receive only one star. The edges were sharpened unevenly, some spots were simply blunt. read more

I bought snowboard bindings from skis and bikes just before the lockdown at the end of November, I asked for guidance to get the appropriate size for My boot/board. the guys there sold me large Saloman bindings, I ended up discovering that they were too big once I put them on my board. so, the toe cap doesn't even stay up. when I called they said "yeah, those are definitely too big - but I can't do anything for you." I literally bought them 3 months ago and they cannot help fix the mistake. I probably won't go to skis and bikes for my snowboard needs in the future. read more

I purchased a 2009 Devinci Milano here last summer. They made a point of up-selling me on everything, even tried to sell me a maintenance package even though I told them I live no where near there and would be using the bike for city riding downtown. The only thing they didn't up-sell me on was the lock. They settled on a $50 coil Kyrptonite lock would be adequate. I was clueless at that point having used an old bike with a cheap coil lock around Halifax and Guelph for years without issues. When my shiny new blue Devinci was stolen off Portland St. while I had dinner at Sadie's one night last summer I was pretty pissed needless to say. Every cyclist and cop I spoke to told me your bike is unsafe in Toronto without a $100+ quality U-lock on it. Apparently the coil lock they sold me, even though it was Kryptonite, is easily cut with a common tool. So my question is why the hell is Skiis & Biikes selling useless locks with expensive bikes? Shouldn't their manager and staff know better than to pair off an new city bike with a lock that won't last 2hrs in the Entertainment District? I would recommend going to a bike shop in the city where the staff are trained, knowledgeable and are CITY cyclists themselves because you won't find that here. Spend $400 on the bike and $100-$150 on the lock instead of $600 on the bike and $50 on the lock. Then maybe you can use your new bike more than 4 times. read more

My bike exploded on me today. The chain snapped and it destroyed the deraileur. I happened to be close by to Skiis & Biikes so I walked my bike over to assess the damage. The staff were very helpful. They had the parts needed to repair my bike and had me back on the road in a little over a half hour. The guy helping me even delayed going on his lunch so that I could get on my way and off to the office. Their store at this location is quite large. Being the summer there wasn't very much in the way of ski equipment but I would imagine that would change come the fall. They have a very large assortment of bikes; everything from a few hundred bucks all the way up to models for serious riders/racers at three grand. They sell clothing of all types of riding weather and any accessory you can think of. They offer a full service repair shop and on this particular Saturday they had lots of staff on hand to help. read more

I came in here in August looking for a bike to use as a commuter; I live roughly 10km from my office and it's mostly roads + bike paths between the two. As soon as I arrived, someone was able to help me out: I described my requirements for a bicycle and the young lady suggested a hybrid, and listed off the brands they carried. She fitted me for a frame size then brought a few of them outside and let me ride them around to see which I preferred. Being completely new to "nicer" bikes, I really couldn't tell the difference in the component grades (i.e. the $650 Sirrus vs. the $800 Devinci vs. the $600 Trek). I was there for about ~35 minutes trying out all the bikes that were suggested and the whole experience was an informative and positive one. I noticed one complaint below about the employees not being knowledgeable because they didn't suggest to buy a more expensive lock, but how can you blame your frugality and ignorance on the store in this case? I ended up spending $600 on my bike and rather than locking it outside of my office building, I bring it in and keep it in my office to protect my property. Great experience with this store and got a good deal on a nice bike that has been serving me well for 2+ months so far :) Will be back soon to shop for a road bike and accessories! read more

Got a deal last year from Groupon for a bike tune-up. First we were told that it will take a week to get the bikes ready. Then it turned into two weeks. At one point they could not locate our bikes. Then eventually they told us that there might be some additional work required outside of the Groupon deal. I told them that I would like to know the cost of the work beforehand, and then I will let them know if we want to get it done. I even had that in writing from them as proof. Eventually one month passes by and I get a call saying that our bikes are ready and it's going to cost an additional 100 dollars. I told them I refuse to accept the cost because I never approved it. The person at their don mills shop then threatened me by saying if I don't come and collect my bike in 1/2 an hour he's going to throw it out. After fighting with their staff we complained to Groupon about this and I also wrote a strong e-mail to their president for the grievance and inconvenience caused. He said he would look into it and get back to me. I never heard anything. If your only basis for good service is price then you might want to consider their services. But if you value a good and honest customer service experience I recommend you try somewhere else. read more

Yesterday I visited the Skiis & Biikes to check out their Annual Ski Sale and I was pleasantly surprised to see a great selection of skiis from Fischer, Dynastar and Rossignol. I had tested these skiis at various demo days last year, and I found the sales person who helped me to be very knowledgeable about the differences between the 3 models of skiis that I was considering. I decided to buy a pair of Dynastar Outland 80 skiis in the 178 cm length, which was the best of the bunch that I had tested last year. The total price of $429.00 included the bindings and I am extremely happy to have found such a good deal. This is the second year in a row that I have bought skiis at the Mississauga location - last year I bought my wife a pair of Rossignol skiis and my daughter a pair of Fischer Wattea freestyle skiis - and they were also a very good deal at half price or less at that time! In conclusion, I would also like to highly recommend their boot fitting department where both my wife and I have bought our new ski boots in the past two seasons. Their boot fitters, especially Brian Babcock, have been extremely helpful in fitting my wife;s boots in a way that have made our skiing much more fun in boots that really do support the feet and prevent us from getting any aches and pains due to ill-fitting boots. If you are looking for great service in downhill skiing, you should definitely check out their stores in Ontario and BC. read more

This store has a good selection of equipment, but tends to be overpriced. I haven't gone there in 5 years as the service in the past has been awful. Unfortunately, nothing has changed on that front. I went to pick up my skis from the service department and was totally ignored by the staff for about 5 min. After raising my concern to the manager, it became quite clear that he really didn't care one bit about his rude employees. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

They were kind of snobby, no one really paid attention to me and the bike selection was okay.

I started going to Skiis & Biikes (Mississauga location) about 5 years ago to take advantage of their Junior Half Back program. Since that time I have had nothing but great experience and service from them. They have kept my 4 kids in great USED skis and boots. I like how they track my purchases with a phone number so the credits are received regardless of if I remember where I kept my receipt! I've also bought bikes from them and the service on that side of the house is just as good. If you compare them to the mass sporting good retailer then their prices are a little bit higher but I've never had a problem returning items, getting information or getting work done on the gear. Sometimes you get a more "junior" employee who may not have as much training as others but I find that employee tends to go get you help rather than try and fake the advice. Richard D read more

Just got my skis back from getting tuned. The p-tex repair was terrible and incomplete. The edge and base sharpening was a joke. The side edge was sharpened with the wrong angle, probably 1 degree instead of the manufactures angle of 2, so the metal edge is nice and polished on the half closest to the top of the side but the actual portion of the edge that comes into contact with the snow is rusty... I would expect a ski shop to know what different ski makers use for side and base angle and not just let some kid run the skis through a grinder. Now I am going to have to undue the damage they did to my edge. $70 dollars down the drain. Lesson learned! read more

I recently needed to purchase a gift card for a birthday gift. Since the stores were inconvenient to get to and I needed the card within two days, I called the store to see if there were any options to have it delivered to my house. Gillian who was the person in charge of the online business graciously offered to have it personally delivered to my house. Quite possibly the worst company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Absolutely horrible staff and a sociopathic manager that didn't even show a shred of caring when I complained when I was told that larger snowboards 158+ didn't have a market rudely by one of their unknowledgable teenage staff. This is not a family run business no matter how hard it tries to be and in desperate need of new management that cares more about you than your ability to fork out 5000 on skiis for your kids. I will never be returning here and will be letting the rest of our club and friends know about this horribly run store. We'll be taking our business elsewhere, I suggest you do the same. read more
