Did the all you can eat sushi. server (who was the owner I'm assuming) was very rude wouldn't allow my girlfriend to order more sushi because I hadnt finished mine! The restaurant was packed and there was only one waiter . The waiter never went to our table even though we told him politely that we have been waiting 30 minutes. The women who owns the restaurant was more concerned answering the phone rather than the people who have been waiting for a long time. Not so 'All-You-Can-Eat' and the wait staff leans toward rude more often than not, along with providing unreliable service. Went with a group of friends, not our first time, but we thought we would give things one last shot. The sushi came out with more rice than anything else, as is typical. I'd say there is, on average, about 50-70% rice with only 30-50% everything else, if you're lucky to even get that much. You can literally fill the plate they give you for your personal use with rice after just two rolls. They rely on this to fill you up so that by your 2nd or 3rd roll, you are too full to get any more, thus limiting what you actually get for the supposed 'All You Can Eat' sushi. I wouldn't mind limits on it IF the amount of fish, vegetables, and other fillings was reasonable. The options for fish are also limited and they use the sauce to make up for the quality of the fish they give you. The wait staff was very rude and didn't seem interested in waiting on us as the night progressed. Needless to say, we won't be bringing friends there anymore. read more

The best sushi hands down in York! There is a lot of places to get sushi in York, but you can't beat the sushi rolls here. The rolls are our favorite!!!! They have different rolls others don't have. Tired of going to places and getting same old thing. Here there is something for everyone. Plus they have all you can eat sushi Mon - Thurs and Sat's for only $18.95. All rolls are included in special!!!! We come here at least once a week. They often have free "HOT" saki that goes down smoother than the regular stuff most people serve. Like any great place waiting for amazing food is always worth the wait! You can go eat anywhere in York get in get out and most of the time the food was ok or not good at all. Our favorite sushi place in Lancaster (Tsunami) closed, and all the other sushi places nearby (Sushi One, Ginmya, Blue Pacific, Tokyo Diner) are very spotty with regard to their sushi quality, so we ventured across the river to York - and we're so glad we did!! The entire meal was great. The service was quick, and the food - from the avocado salad (way more avocado than other places add) to the miso soup to the fried dumplings (delicious!) to the sushi itself - was really, really good. The fish was fresh, the vegetables fresh and firm, everything was great. Our server was friendly and showed up on time to refill drinks, take away dishes, etc... and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We will definitely go back - and hope other Lancastrians will make the trip across the Susquehanna to check Oyako Sushi out! One word of warning - the place is easy to miss - their listing on the sign outside the shopping center they're in is close to the bottom, and we drove past it the first time, even with the GPS telling us "You have reached your destination!" We then called to find out where they were, and had to turn around. They're in the shopping center with the Food Lion, so keep your eyes peeled for that as you go down Market Street! :-D read more

During COVID we have been focused on supporting local. I am writing this review after three separate orders. I always order one staple item and try two new things as well. First order - ok. Next order, terrible, so I reached out to Oyako Sushi and they gave a three dollar credit. The order was not seasoned and the shrimp tempura was made with imitation crab meat. Today's order (09/05/2020) of shrimp tempura was the same, shrimp were not used for my shrimp tempura. The tempura chicken was not seasoned and the spring rolls had no taste was well. Money wasted and I have now ordered elsewhere for my dinner. Unfortunately, consistency is not a thing for Oyako Sushi. I will no longer be able to support this local business read more

Great traditional ambiance, clean and comfortable. The servers were attentive and quick with anything we asked. The deep fried rolls we tried (TNT and Volcano) were excellent, but the standard rolls were wrapped with a ton of rice, way more than I've seen at other places. I would suspect that this is because we picked the buffet option, but I wasn't happy with that. I'm in York for business and needed to find a place that could give me my sushi fix. Was really surprised that the AYCE was only $19.95 because in Philly, it's usually $25-30, which leaves me conflicted. With this price, I ordered 3 rolls and have it originally priced more than $19.95. I did get cooked sushi this time because I'm weary of new places serving raw food (really only trust cities due to past experiences). Staff is really friendly and attentive (which juxtaposes others' experiences). I think I received a training waiter, because she forgot little things like a soup spoon for my miso soup, which I'm not bothered by since it was calm. Or else, she had to run back to double check with me on my order. No big deal, I worked at a restaurant when I was a student. The soup itself definitely has to be instant miso, the way the tofu was cut and the seaweed size, as well as the miso gathering at the bottom of the bowl - all indicators. The sushi was fine (dragon roll, sunshine roll, spicy yellowtail), not the best, I think the eel was really warm because the roll was practically falling apart between my chopsticks. Otherwise, room temperature is okay because that's what it should be. It's good for a quick fix, and for a rural area that doesn't get to provide as extensively in the city (not in a bad way, just means of resources). Would recommend to travelers. Added bonus: eight pieces in a normal roll and they let you take the unfinished sushi home! read more

Food was delicious. However, the service was beyond horrible overall. Stood and waited for 10 minutes to be seated, only to find out you can seat yourself and I never had to wait. The server (or anyone working) could have easily welcomed me and said to do just that. Waited about 30 minutes to place an order, and then another 40 mins to get food. Granted they were a bit slammed, but we also heard others waited over 1hr 20 min to get any food and still never got any food. So even though we had a long wait, we ultimately felt lucky. The manager / cashier came across rude / disrespectful and wouldnt help compensate or reimburse other customers for outrageous wait times, and for items not yet received. read more

I tried the buffet. The sushi is made fresh and the roles are creative. (Too creative in some cases). The service is a decent pace, a little on the slow side, but not too bad. The only major complaint I have is there is too much rice in the couple rolls I tried. I don't know if this is because I was doing buffet, but maybe try giving more soup instead. read more

Stopped in because I'd seen a few raving reviews -- and I'm glad I did. This is by far the best sushi I've had in (and around) York, and rivals my favorite places around the country. I ordered the salmon roll, the Pink Lady roll, and the Jungle roll as part of their $18.95 all-you-can-eat dinner special. As another reviewer mentioned, the fish-to-rice ratio is excellent. The fish was fresh, buttery, and colorful. My salmon roll was actually the shining star of the bunch. I did knock a star off for the slow service. Upon entering I stood at the counter for about two minutes with no hostess, server, or any sense of direction in sight. It took about 15 minutes of me looking at the menu for my order to be taken, and then another 45 for two-thirds of my food to arrive. I do work in food service and noticed there were two large parties who placed their orders immediately before mine, so my patience wasn't wearing thin, but I can see how others' might. When my food finally got to me though, I was wholly impressed! Good job, Oyako. I might only order carryout from now on, since I did feel a bit awkward dining by myself, but nonetheless I had a very positive experience. read more

I have been here multiple times and all tho the wait is usually pretty long, today was ridiculous! we waited 15min before getting our menu, than 5min after the lady comes to take order, my wife was asking questions about something than I put my order in and she walked away without getting my wifes order, about 25min later mind you we haven't received at least our waters that we ordered, we finally decided to leave, right before leaving she advised me my food is done but we still decided to leave and take food to go, since my wifes order hasn't even been takin after 45min of waiting. love this place cause there food is great but they really need to work on there service read more
