Oystertown is a special gem tucked in a cute building on Lighthouse Avenue. The food was AMAZING! Not only delicious but artfully served. We had the 1/2 dozen oysters and glasses of the Vino Verde, both on happy hour. The chopped salad was light and flavorful and the seafood chowder was delish (and dairy free!) Service was fantastic, attentive and very warm. If you live here, you must try Oystertown! If you don't live here, add this to your list of places next time you're in Monterey. read more

I have passed by this spot several times when visiting Monterey and have been curious. Today I happened to have time and see a spot right out front for parking so decided to stop and check it out. It is a beautiful open space/kitchen/bar and from what I could see a lovely outside dining area with a few tables. I was able to sit at the bar fairly quickly. The menu looked amazing and from what I could see while waiting the food was top quality. I ended up ordering the oyster shooter which was phenomenal. The flavors they mixed together with the tobiko and quail egg is perfect...so perfect I ordered a second. The clam on the half shell was OK but after starting with the oyster shooter I think anything else was not going to seem as amazing. It was a near perfect experience except I used my sanitizer after eating the clams since they left a fishy smell and I could tell it immediately upset the bartender so I felt I had to leave quickly. It was super uncomfortable and I wish I hadn't heard her make a comment about it. However, I understand it is such an open space I should have waited until I was done and out the door before cleaning my hands. Was not my intention to upset the staff/bartender. Otherwise, the menu looks amazing and I hope at some point to return. read more

My wife and I couldn't wait to try Oystertown and this establishment doesn't disappoint. The Food, Staff and Ambience is amazing! We wanted to try everything on the Menu. The Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We loved the Vibe here. The Locals that we sat next to were also very nice. Definitely can't wait to come back! All the food was so good and I want this place to succeed but unfortunately I can't afford to eat here.

first time here. the ambience caught me! absolutely beautiful. the smiles by the workers was genuine and so friendly. the happy hour menu was slight but what was offered was great! $5 wine, 6 different types of oysters for $15 dinner was delish. we had the seafood soup, no fairly, and it was excellent. cauliflower with breadcrumbs melted in our mouths, the special was collar of salmon in an asian flare and thee best! we had the tiramusu for dessert. all came to $125 and worth ev penny. thank you Monica and the other gal who were so friendly. will be back. read more

Love this new spot in town! Steamed mussels, hippie hand grenade and the banana pudding were perfect! Hubbie had bowl of the soup the meatballs and stole 1/2 my dessert. Staff is attentive without being annoying, and delicate balance in a small place. Ambiance is modern and clean. Seats are comfy and it is truly an oyster bar! Just found my newest go to spot whenever I am in Monterey. Food is fantastic and the space is gorgeous. Happy Hour oysters are a must! HH overall is great, with $3 beers and $5 wines at a steal. This is an excellent place to visit. Beautifully esthetically designed and comfortable. With a pleasant staff interaction. Food was exceptionally clean and tasteful. What a find! Only in town for one night and wanted to have a light seafood dinner without the tourist crowds or vibe, man did we luck out! Friendly, knowledgeable staff guided us to some delicious choices, including some delicious fresh oysters. Chatting with the chef/owners and locals about the area was an unexpected and delightful highlight of the night. We didn't have a wait that night but we would gladly queue for a spot at their uniquely set-up bar the next time we visit. read more

This place is epic! It's locally owned and operated! Skip the Cannery row if you're visiting from out of town and get an uber to OysterTown. Philip owns the place and he is there in person making everything amazing! You can watch him work! Monica also owns the place and she is there waiting on you, like really paying attention to the entire room. Ashley was my server and like Monica she was really paying attention and listened, suggested and came back to follow-up with me. The service was great and the food was better than anything in the area. There's a lot of detail put into each bite and if you slowdown in OysterTown for just a moment, you'll taste every flavor deliberately put there. Can you tell I loved it? We had a wonderful time at the restaurant. Ashley was a wonderful host and made us feel very welcome. We were craving premium oysters. This is the only place in Monterey and Carmel serving Shigoku and Kusshi oysters. The special sauces for dressed oyster dishes added such elevation and excitement to the taste of the oysters. Mixed experience to be honest. The oysters were fresh and everything we tried was delicious. Service was a little disappointing, the lady taking care of us at the bar forgot to give us plates, our drinks, and the bread plate we ordered until we reminded a different staff member. Didn't really get to try everything we wanted because by the time we were checked on, we were kind of over waiting and just decided to get the tab. All of the staff was very friendly and the place had good vibes, maybe it was an off night, but I can't say I'll be back to find out. read more

Oystertown was amazing ! We have been hoping a place like this existed in Monterey ! By far the best oysters we've had on the peninsula! We started with a half dozen , they gave us two of each of their daily offering ! They were so delicious! Next we tried one of the specials, a raw scallop tostada! This was also so fresh and the scallops were so sweet ! I would say a must is their hot cross buns with herb cream cheese !!! Just as delicious as the name sounds. Last we tried Grama Lina's meatballs! So sweet that the chef uses his real family recipe ! Another must try and rounded out our meal completely! They have a fantastic wine selection !! Beer as well . The place is so cool and such a nice ambiance!! The kitchen is open and you can see chef at work ! Phil and Monica knocked it out of the park ! We can't wait to go back ! read more

My husband and I wandered into Oystertown on a rainy Monday night. It was just about closing time and we were the only ones there. We were warmly greeted by co-owner Monica, who made us feel welcome despite the late hour and inclement weather. We don't live in Monterey (we live in Hawaii), and it was a quick trip. This restaurant is the reason for an extended stay! The food was wonderful...oysters absolutely fresh and delicious, the lobster roll (special) was amazing with generous amounts of fresh lobster. My husband had an expertly seasoned uni gnocchi which he thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you to Monica for your hospitality and excellent wine recommendations, and to Chef Wojtowicz for his delicious cuisine. We cannot wait to return! read more

Very nice people running the place and the food is excellent quality and presented beautifully. I found it a little pricey but I guess you get what you pay for. I had the sampler plate. The shrimp were delicious and the oysters first class. I could've use some more toast for the smoked oyster dip. read more
