The restaurant itself is relatively upscale for a hotel but has a warm vibe. The Belgian waffle is a must- it's decadent, the berries are fresh and the whipped cream is cloud-like and sweet. The American breakfast was hearty and filling. The bacon was perfectly chewy, salty and cooked. The Yukon potatoes were crispy and had a good level of spice. The eggs were super fluffy as well. The sourdough was warm and the butter was creamy. Let's start with the wins: the service was genuinely excellent -- attentive, warm, professional. The Old Fashioned was well-crafted, and major props to the bar program for stocking Nochino. That's a detail that signals someone behind the bar actually cares. The food, though? It missed. The fish was overcooked and the presentation felt like an afterthought. For a restaurant at this price point and in this setting, I expected more -- both on the plate and on the plate. You can forgive a lot in a restaurant when everything else sings. We are here for Thanksgiving as we were trying something new vs traditional so we left town for Monterey and let me just say this... my meal was so delicious! I tried swordfish for the first time and it was so flavorful! My entire meal was so good it left an ever lasting impression on me that I cannot wait to come back again! I was a little unsure at first, but I'm really glad I tried it. I got the milk and honey toast, and it was so good... like I'm actually sad it's an hour and a half away because I'd go back just for that. My husband had the avocado toast with two poached eggs, my daughter had the pancakes, and we also got fresh berries, grapefruit juice, orange juice, and hot chocolate. Everything was good, no complaints. Our server Claudia was really sweet, very patient, and knew the menu well which I appreciated. Joe, I think he was the manager, came over and talked to us and shared a little background about the food and the chef, which made it feel more personal. They mentioned the cook had been on Food Network and created that milk and honey toast, which made sense after tasting it. I was really looking forward to having a meal here and we were definitely satisfied! We were staying at The Clement Hotel for a couple of days for our anniversary getaway, so I decided to make dinner reservations here for our first night. It was very convenient for us and made perfect sense to stay on site while having a few cocktails! Our reservation was set for 7pm, hoping we could catch the sunset. Unfortunately it was a bit overcast, but we still had beautiful views nonetheless. There was a romantic elegance yet fun vibe in the restaurant. There was also soft live music playing which was very nice. We were seated by the windows overseeing the ocean and we were lucky enough to see a mama sea otter with her baby swimming around in front of us, which made it even more special! I ordered the South of the Border and my husband ordered the InterContinental Drift as our first round of drinks. Both drinks were unique and delicious. We each ordered Clam Chowder as our starter which was pretty tasty. My hubby ordered the Salmon and surprisingly enough I wasn't too hungry after having the soup, so I ordered an appetizer instead. I chose the Monterey Bay Calamari thinking it was a small portion, but it was the total opposite lol. It was a boatload of Calamari and so very good! We were both pleased with our food choices and ordered another round of drinks. I decide to order the Rested Plane this time which was refreshing. We had exceptional service and our waiter was very animated and fun. I'm so sad we didn't get a chance to have breakfast here, but totally recommend it for dinner. Definitely resort prices so feels a bit overpriced, but a delicious dinner overall. Recommend making a reservation because we were able to sit by one of the windows with views of the water which was lovely. My husband and I shared the Ora King Salmon which was cooked perfectly. It was served with sautéed spinach, cauliflower, and mushrooms. We also shared the prawn and Dungeness crab pappardelle. The crab is mixed in with the sauce and 5 pieces of prawn. The sauce is creamy and salty and the lemon adds a nice fresh acidity to it. Both dishes were a good size for sharing between the two of us. We ended the meal with the milk and honey toast which was a great way to end the meal. The toast was so buttery with a nice crunch on the outside but fluffy on the inside. Came here with some coworkers for a team dinner on a Tuesday night. It was super slow inside so it was very quiet but not awkwardly so. We ordered fairly quickly and the food was delicious. I had the chicken and it did not disappoint, everyone else at the table were also very happy with their choices. It was definitely enough for two portions and I really wish I hadn't been traveling so I could have taken home my leftovers. Toward the end, it definitely felt like the waiter was trying to push us out quickly, which was surprising given they were open for another couple of hours and it wasn't busy at all. Took the most amazing walk down the trail along the bay to get to this restaurant and so happy we did. Started with a dozen oysters. They were a 3/5. I was surprised. I didn't love them. They were pretty briney and just ok. Our martinis were bomb. Hubby had delicate little floating ice in his and we hardly ever find that yumminess! It was ice cold and so yummy. Since we are staying at the hotel, we decided to check this place out. We had dinner and breakfast here and both meals were really good. For dinner, I had the sea bass and it was cooked to perfection! The kids enjoyed their meals too (there is a kid's menu). There is also a separate kid's dessert menu. We ordered the honey & milk toast dessert at the recommendation from our amazing server, Tony, and it was to die for. Tony was so great, he checked on us just enough and brought my son binoculars so he could see the dolphins and sea otters from our table. We sat right by the window and it was so fun. My son said he's the best server ever! Hah For breakfast I had the chilaquiles and it was good. Their homemade salsa is yummy! Service was outstanding once again. Their drinks are delish too. The C Bar is one of the better restaurants in the Monterey area. I recently returned after a long hiatus, and it was exactly as I remembered it, and that's (mostly) a good thing. Food is very good. I had the duck entree, which remains the same as I remember it many years back. It's an excellent dish, with a balance of flavors and textures that are deeply satisfying. The duck breast is a remarkable piece of meat, boneless and massive, it feels like this duck hit the gym. Relatedly--and I remember this from the past, too--the duck breast is surprisingly firm. I wonder whether there's any way for the kitchen to dial up the tenderness a little. I also had a cocktail which fully met my expectations. Also apropos food, years ago I ate one of the best diver scallop dishes I've ever had here, and I notice it's not currently on the menu, I wonder whether it might return at some point. Service is very good, casual and attentive. One modest caveat here, too; I'm a believer in the slightly old-fashioned notion that you shouldn't even offer to clear plates while some at the table are still eating. Atmosphere is good, elevated but relatively casual and family friendly. On the other hand, for a non-family date night, the vibe might feel a tad too casual, especially at this price point. Price is relatively high, appropriate to what's on offer, but a meal adds up. I see in another review that a locals' discount is on offer, I guess you have to know to ask for that. read more

He carefully described the specials and specialty bar drinks we could enjoy. Went on a girl's trip for the day so had to try this place. Spot is really nice and we got the window seat with view of the water. It's so clean bright. The service was impeccable . They came around and checked on us a lot. The amount of food we ordered is always too much! But we wanted to try many items on their menu. We chose 5 appetizers and 2 main dishes. The food was delicious. It took a lot from the 3 of us to finish it all. Will definitely come back when we visit Monterey again. I made a reservations for brunch and this place turned out to be one of the best dining experience we had during our trip. I wasn't expecting an indoor table next to the window, but we got a table with an amazing view. Service was quick and nice and the food was hard to beat. Purely by coincidence when I was planning a trip to this part of the state, I stumbled upon a video of a guy dining here, raving about the view and food. About a month before I searched for a hotel, I studied the restaurant's website but didn't see the entree. I called the restaurant and the kind lady explained that it is offered Thursdays and sometimes Friday if there are leftovers from Thursday. After a tiring drive to the area, I was not hungry until a little after 6:30 pm when I made my way here. The entrance is just past the Intercontinental Hotel main entrance towards the water. The greeter led me to a table facing the bay. After getting the menu, my waiter told me about the special and gave me time to plan my meal. I went here on a Sunday night at 7pm. I had a reservation and was seated immediately. The restaurant has a dim, moody interior with modern furniture. It is located inside a hotel. Everything was great and the food was delicious. The only downside was that I had to ask the server for the complimentary bread since it still had not come out after the appetizers did. Calamari: 4/5. The calamari was crispy with a strong smokey and lemon flavor. It paired well with the chipotle aioli sauce. There was also fried lemon and asparagus. 12 oz. new york steak: 5/5. We visited the region for our wedding anniversary and after a long day of driving and visiting the Aquarium and touring the Cannery Row we decided to have dinner here at the hotel because it was convenient and also had great views of the bay. I had breakfast at the C restaurant + bar and its what you'd expect from a hotel restaurant. Food here is on the expensive side and isn't anything extraordinary. I got a bowl of oatmeal with brown sugar and dried fruit for $15 while my wife got a salmon omelette for $25. A cup of coffee runs you $8. The staff here is nice and attentive, coming around multiple times to refill my coffee throughout the dining experience. You do get a spectacular view of the bay if you're able to snag a window seat but other than this, you're better off getting better tasting, better value breakfast elsewhere. If you're part of the IHG ambassador program, don't forget to bill to your hotel room (instead of putting down a credit card) so you get the $20 credit off your bill at the end of your stay. read more
