My daughter had the marinara pasta with Parmesan and she loved it, finished every bite. It's a good portion too, and it was only $9! In fact, she liked it so much we had to come back our second night so she could have it again. To me, the highlight was the warm bread. It's served with softened butter, and coming in from the chilly outdoors to it was heavenly. I also had their Beach House salad--the candied pecans and the tangy sweet vinaigrette were very good. The second night I tried their Filet Mignon Beef Stroganoff, and it was way too rich for me. I barely ate many and it unsettled my stomach. Should have just stuck with the salad again! Wanting our special evening to be truly memorable, I spent over an hour researching romantic restaurants with beautiful scenery in the area. While many options stood out, the Beach House Restaurant at Lover's Point immediately felt like the perfect choice. We were absolutely delighted that we chose to spend our anniversary here. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Camille, who mentioned they were expecting us for our 7pm reservation and were already preparing the ideal table after I noted our 30th Anniversary on OpenTable. Camille escorted us right away to a stunning spot overlooking the ocean. The view was breathtaking -- calm, peaceful, and utterly romantic. Camille let us know that Emily would be our server and would be with us shortly. Even while busy helping other guests, Emily greeted us with a warm smile and assured us she'd be right over. As soon as she had an opportunity, she took our drink and appetizer order. She quickly took care of us, by bringing our drinks, fresh bread, and West Coast Poke to start. The bread was perfectly crisp and flaky on the outside with a soft, warm, and moist interior. The Poke was exceptionally fresh, beautifully seasoned, and vibrant. As a native of Oahu, I'm quite particular about fish, and while nothing quite compares to Hawaiian Island fresh fish catches, this came impressively close. Jose, the kitchen runner, delivered our entrées, and Emily promptly checked on us, to ensure we received all our dishes and offered fresh ground pepper. My husband and I shared the Grilled Salmon Filet, Tomahawk Pork Chop, and Wild Mushroom Curry. Every dish was executed to perfection. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were outstanding: the salmon was perfectly seasoned, the pork chop was juicy and tender, and the curry offered a wonderful balance of spices -- flavorful without being overpowering. The accompanying mashed potatoes, wild rice blend, jasmine rice, and vegetables all complemented the entrées beautifully. A huge thank you to chefs Pete and Aleia for creating such an incredibly delicious and thoughtfully prepared meal using the freshest ingredients. Emily provided exceptional service throughout the evening. She was attentive, hospitable, and genuinely kind, continually checking on us and ensuring we had everything we needed. Her care made our experience even more special. As night fell, the ambiance became even more romantic. The beach house at lovers point has a phenomenal view! Upon arrival the GM Axel promptly sat us early for our reservation! The server, Emily, was prompt with water and our bottle of wine. Belle Glos Pinot noir was delicious and paired well with our entrees, the filet mignon stroganoff and the lamb shank. This is our favorite family restaurant when we visit Monterey. Always a treat to come here and enjoy the ambiance and scenery. The food is always good. We love the firecracker shrimp for appetizers and the sunset early bird menu has lots of great options. We usually get the salmon entree, ahi tuna, or steak. We came here for a birthday. I had booked this place a week in advance and the ocean view was the main thing that drew me to choose this restaurant. Although I requested a table with a view in my reservation note, the hostess didnt accommodate our request. When asked how long we would have to wait, we were told maybe 40 mins, so we took something else. I was initially fine with this, as requests are not always guaranteed, but 5-10 minutes later, a view table was given to another group of the same size. Aside from that, we were pleased by the food and service. Our waitress was attentive and the hot iron chicken was very juicy. We went at 7pm on a Friday night and the place was pleasantly busy. We ordered a martini and looked at the menu and out the window. They serve delicious complementary warm bread and butter (a rare thing these days). I ordered the Airline Chicken. Strange name but absolutely delicious chicken cooked in a cast iron pan with au jus and potatoes, onions, carrots, green beans. Our waiter (Emily) said it was very moist snd tender and deli and she was right. I recommend it. My husband got the mahi mahi and he was very happy with it. It was served on a delicious bed of.... Risotto? We weren't sure but it tasted great. The only unfortunate thing was we ordered a crème brûlée for dessert and waiting quite a long time to get it and it was completely unacceptable. The crème was not cooked / a liquidy mess and no crunch at all to the brûlée. The waiter was lovely and noticed we didn't eat it and took it off the bill. That was nice but after waiting so long to get it I think a small complimentary dessert would have been nice. Oh well.... Saved the calories I guess. Only open for dinner starting at 4:30 PM There's ample seating in the dining room, bar or the outside patio with heaters. On the weekend, I 100% recommend calling and getting a reservation. The Bar does have a small TV. Should you want to watch sports!! Ryan, the bartender makes excellent craft cocktails or if you're in the mood for beer or wine of course they have that too. My kids love coming here! This restaurant is kid friendly, but I do recommend bringing some crayons or activities for the children. read more

My husband and I ate here twice on our trip to Pacific Grove. Excellent both times. We sat on the heated patio and watched the beach goers and the ocean waves. The servers were friendly and helpful. We had the house salad both nights, it was delicious. The warm bread and butter is also so yummy. We had the firecracker shrimp both nights also. It's a must get. Unfortunately, we were pretty underwhelmed by this restaurant. It was our 25th anniversary and it was recommended by the Inn we were staying at. I ordered the broiled oysters with garlic chili oil to start. We also got the Caesar to split. My husband ordered the chicken dish, while I had the crab arancini as my entree. They were busy when we got there, but slowly people started to leave. Our server took awhile to greet us, but we understood. The oysters were so disappointing. The garlic chili oil was drowned out by toasted sesame oil (which I hate) and they were almost inedible. The sesame oil was not listed in the description on the menu, or I would have passed. Hard. Also, whoever shucked the oysters, didn't remove the whole body from the shell ( big no no) so I was fighting with my fork to release them. I worked at an oyster bar for years and shucked my fair share of them. It was hard to cleanse my palate of the sesame oil, because it was so overpowering. The Caesar was fine, nothing to write home about. The crab arancini was the best thing that I had. Really crispy and delicious. My husband was very disappointed with his dish. He is a chef of 30+ years and was excited to try the Demi glacé that was listed on the menu. What came out was chicken broth with so much garlic that it was also overpowering. The menu also said that the carrots and potatoes were roasted, but all of the veg had been boiled. So, everything was the same boiled texture and it was very unpleasant for him. He did let our server know. Our server ( a younger woman - didn't get her name) never asked how the food was. I don't know if she just didn't want to know, or what. She also never refilled my husband's empty water glass and didn't ask if I would like another glass of sparkling wine when she dropped off our entrees, even though my glass was empty, The one nice thing is that they gave us a complimentary coffee/chocolate dessert to celebrate our anniversary. Unfortunately, by this time, we were ready to go. We will not be returning. Fix your menu and make sure the kitchen is preparing food the way it's described. read more

For dinner, we ordered the scallop pot pie; flaky open faced crust with 6 good sized scallops in rich, buttery cream sauce (had quite a bit of pearl onions). I had the cioppino; filled with white fish, 16-20 sized shrimps, clams (tiny meat) and 5-legged soft shelled crab. Great flavors on the broth, not too salty like others I've had in the Monterey area. Overall a good dinner with a great view and exceptional customer service (took my original 4 star to a 5); we will be back for other items on the menu on our next visit! The clam chowder is thick with clams, celery and an almost potato puree, so, so good; served with sliced hot bread and butter. The lobster ravioli was to die for. Thick, creamy sauce, large parmesan flakes over 8 large lobster stuffed ravioli with asparagus and mushrooms. Not sure what hubby ordered but the risotto was divine with crab with a slight sweetness. (but once we set out out table we did have a kids menu and our server was nothing like how it started.. We order appetizers calamari and the food was great. (Sorry for the length.) My family and I frequent Beach House, not only for the gorgeous backdrop of the Pacific Ocean, but for its very affordable and reasonable Local's Menu. The waiters were friendly and efficient (shout out to Jill!) and the food was delicious, well-cooked with excellent flavor pairings, and came out in a timely manner. I've had no concerns until a month or so ago when I decided to take my close friend to Beach House, as she had never been. To preface, we are both in our twenties and look younger for our age. We both dressed appropriately, spoke cordially, and did nothing out of the ordinary. Unfortunately, our waitress treated us as if we were there to waste her time the entire dining experience. We observed throughout the evening how she greeted her other patrons with a huge smile on her face and with an introduction of her name, which was Rachel. With us? She did not smile once, introduce herself, and her body language was turned away with no eye contact. Her statements to us were very short with a negative tone. When my friend asked for a glass of wine, she seemed annoyed as my friend struggled to get her I.D. out of her bag (it took an extra second, I'll admit, because her bag was next to me across the table). She hardly checked on us throughout the meal, such as not refilling our waters, and after we declined the dessert menu, she simply gave us the check without a word and sharply turned away. The most appalling part? My friend asked for a to-go box. At this point, we both were pretty shocked at her blatant disregard for us, as it was VERY apparent she was treating us differently from her other patrons. We felt singled out the whole evening, and we kept going over our demeanors and wondered if we accidentally did something to offend her. I kept asking, "Should I say something to our waitress or to someone in charge?" We decided not to, as we didn't want to cause trouble (although I hate to say this, we should have in the moment). When the waitress finally gave her the box...she didn't even look at us and her entire body was completely turned away. She said curtly, "Here you go," and quickly thrusted the box DIRECTLY in my friend's face near her eye. Now, I'm not one to wonder something like this...But was our treatment that evening because of our assumed age? Was it because my friend is Korean? Was it because our waitress saw us and assumed two young folks wouldn't tip her or care about anything (we certainly did care and did tip)? I'm not sure why. Her almost hitting my friend in the face with the take-out box just shocked us so much. The reason why I am detailed about this experience in my review is to prevent this from happening to another guest again, as it was very obvious my friend and I were treated differently. I'm not trying to make any trouble, but if it had hit her eye we'd be very upset. Anyways, next time I'm here, I'll be sure to request Jill as my waiter, since she is terrific. She was super sweet, very efficient, and attentive to us. I also recommend the firecracker shrimp as a starter. It's slightly sweet, and the spice level isn't too crazy. It's garnished with green onion and cabbage. The portion size is very generous, and enough to share (although why would you? It's too good!). I'm not sure if this is still on the menu, but a year ago I had one of their specials: teriyaki filet mignon bites with kimchi risotto...HEAVENLY!!! It was such an amazing combination. On the Local's Menu, the sirloin steak with fries and zucchini is excellently cooked and is extremely affordable for the gourmet meal it is. Beach House is always wonderful, but the negative experience I mentioned is worth mentioning. Otherwise, I do recommend it. I just wish that hadn't happened. read more
