The worst moving experience. Don't use this company. Caused damage. Inexperienced staff with bad attitude.

After a recent move, I wanted to find somebody relatively local to service my piano and, after doing some research, found Jake. All I can say is that the reviews about him are extremely accurate! Communication was excellent, he is punctual, and he will give you a pretty accurate estimate on the pricing prior to booking the appointment. The piano sounded great after the initial tuning, and he also replaced some clips on the Dampp-Chaser that were damaged during the move, as well as replacing the pads and liner. I had some regulation work done on the piano about 20 years ago and was never very happy with the piano action after that work. I mentioned this to Jake and he told me that the regulation was currently not in spec. He spent some time asking me what I disliked about the action, and he felt like there were many things that could be done to improve the playability. We scheduled a few additional appointments, and I couldn't be happier with the results! I think it actually plays and sounds even better than when I first purchased it many years ago, so if you are looking for somebody to service your piano, Jake has my highest recommendation!

The entire house needed to be completely cleared in only 4 days for the final "walk through." I had already flown back to LA but was confident that I would find someone on Yelp in no time. I searched piano movers in the Westchester, New York area, read several reviews and then made a few inquiries over the phone. After getting a few price quotes, my intuition told me to go with Sherzod at "Magic Piano Movers." He was very nice to talk with and took the time to explain step by step how they would pack up my baby grand piano before they moved it to its destination in Monroe, NY. The price was $650 which included gas, tolls, packing it up securely/safely, and setting it up at the new location. He also asked if any steps or stairs were at either location since they charged an extra fee for any steps over 3. Sher was very honest and upfront which I appreciated. My cousins met the movers at my house at 9:00 am on Saturday. They told me that they were on time, early even, and did an excellent job getting the baby grand out of the house. They broke it down, wrapped it up to protect it and got it on the truck very quickly. It was comforting to know that my piano was in good hands while 3,000 miles away. I HIGHLY recommend Piano Movers.

Here is an example: "Unless a greater valuation is stated herein, the depositor or owner declares that the value in case of loss or damage arising out of storage, transportation, packing, unpacking, clearing or handling of the goods and the liability of the company for any cause for which it may be storage, transportation, packing, unpacking, clearing or handling of the goods and liability of the company for any cause for which it may be liable for each or any piece or package and the contents thereof does not exceed and is limited to the standard/minimum amount set by the comp any and based on the size of the instrument." I asked them to add the value of the piano to the contract and they refused. At one point they didn't want me to call so we had to go back and forth over text. Who does business that way??? To have the piano covered for its full value they asked me to pay $150 extra for insurance. How can a piano moving company not have their own liability insurance that covers the total cost of a piano??? Eventually I got tired of texting and went with someone else. Bottom line, train the people answering the phone so they understand the business, can make decisions and don't have to go back and forth to "the boss" and make the customers wait all day over text to get basic agreements settled. Very unprofessional.

Little ear is the BEST! I would flat out not look to anyone…read moreelse to tune your piano. I found a beautiful 1938 Krakauer baby grand on a piano adoption site. It had not been tuned in years and sounded like nonsense because of that, but the action and all keys worked great, so I had it moved from the upper east side to Bushwick. I hired another tuner I found on google with decent reviews. He showed up late, fiddled around for a few minutes, then judgementally asked if I had a piano tech look at it before moving. He basically told me it was worthless, made me feel stupid for paying to move it, and wouldn't even try to tune it-what if I wanted to have it re-stringed? Like, how do you know what lengths i would go to restore it? He offered me no opinions or options and I felt completely mansplained. He thankfully didn't charge me a "consult" fee due to his tardiness. Fast forward, my husband called little ear and explained the situation, as I just didn't believe this beautiful grand piano belonged in a dump. We got an appointment within days. Our piano tech was friendly and cool, and explained that while the knobs were a weird size, he could get to work on it, and suggested tuning to 410 (baroque pitch basically) to avoid breaking the strings. I was like, great! I'm a classical soprano who sings a lot of baroque music anyways, and just want to play recreationally/don't care if Debussy sounds a half step lower than 440. Like, I just wanted it playable, I'm not playing at Carnegie Hall on it tomorrow. He offered me a totally chill and easy solution for an instrument I just want to play for my own enjoyment. In less than two hours, suddenly I heard him playing Bach in my living room and it sounded beautiful. I was so excited! The piano not only looks so beautiful in my apartment, but I have really enjoyed getting back into practice because it is now actually playable. Not only did they do a great job, but they were totally unpretentious and not snobby about working on an older piano and offering me a solution, even if it's less than conventional. I will be using again!

I still wanted to get some practice out of it before chucking it (I'm a bit sentimental, as it's been in the family for so long), and Little Ear Piano Repair was still able to fix a broken string and tune it as well as reasonably possible, which was fine, as I'm just an amateur and not a professional piano player. It was all done pretty affordably, too, which was another plus. So, needless to say, I couldn't be happier with the service, and it comes highly recommended.
