I used to love going into the Oz. The music was always good, the bartenders always seemed very friendly, and it was always a nice place to hang out and relax. Now I do not know what happened. I went in there last weekend hoping to have fun, but I didn't. The atmosphere had changed, and I heard a lot of others say the same thing. Then I decided to shrug it off and went back in last night, only to be disappointed yet again.
In the short amount of time I was there, two of the workers walked in, and then were told to leave by a guy that I had rarely ever seen in there before (kind of a tall, skinny, blonde, and walks with a limp). He said that they were getting kicked out for having stolen chips and soda. He tried to claim it was a felony charge. (A felony charge for chips and soda? What worker in that place hasn't had soda and chips at no charge?) He was very loud and rude about it, totally did not listen to a thing they were trying to tell him. One of those two employees was the only DJ that was left as far as i knew. Those two workers had been there for quite a while as well. Customers knew and liked them, and isn't that what you want in a successful business anyways?
On my way out; several minutes after these two employees were kicked out, I stopped outside to talk with a friend before I left and I overheard more regular customers of the bar talking about how this guy is wrecking the fun for everyone, and how they were just going to finish their drinks and leave as well. They did not want to go to a bar where the fun was lost on a Friday night, and they talked about how the stop was a complete waste of their time. I know the feeling, I felt the same way.
I don't know what is up with the sudden changes, but I'm saying right now that with an asshole like that in the bar that cannot make things a private matter, I don't intend to go back. I don't know who he is, I don't know why he's there, and I do not intend to befriend him in any way, shape, or form. The old way was the fun way, and there was no need for that person to try and make two senior employees at that bar look like common criminals. The owner of the bar needs to boot that guy out before his business is run into the ground. read more
