Had a Reuben Wednesday evening, as I a had heard they were good. I really like a good Reuben, but typically disappointed, but I thought I would give a try. WOW it was the best I have even had!!! Huge sandwich, soft thick cut meat, good bite to the sauerkraut, great bread!!! read more

Having been here before but had been awhile, I was really looking forward to the Cajun baked fish. Upon walking in with one other person, both the bartender and what may have been the owner? looked at us and watched us sit down at a table in the bar area. Ten mins had gone by and still not greeted and it was not busy, not for two people anyways... few more mins go by and a group of older people come in and are immediately asked where they will be sitting and menus brought right to their table and we were still ignored BUT still looked at. The tables had condiments on them so one would assume you can sit down, and be greeted within a reasonable time. we ended up leaving and going elsewhere and still we're never talked to by anyone working there. terrible service and this had happen to my mom and sister about a year prior to this. read more

Unbelievably bad, slow service on what was a slow afternoon. Couldn't get a second drink. Waitress and possibly the owner smoked and talked, totally ignored us. She never came even with our bill, so we finally assumed they would process our two drinks without a signature...and we left. Very unprofessional. read more

This past weekend, the Chatterbox hosted an event for our group, providing both space and food, and I was very impressed with all aspects of our experience. They provided pulled pork, pasta salad, chips and salsa, and all the accoutrements--everything was really delicious. The bar was clean--which is unusual for a lot of bars, and the space we had available was set up really nice. The bartenders were really friendly and helpful, as well. Normally, I don't go to bars for food or drinks,but I would definitely go back to the Chatterbox for a burger and beer sometime, and would highly recommend it to others. read more

First and Foremost, Chatter Box is a bar that just happens to serve the best hamburger in the city. When you walk in you will see a bar full of regulars. That's a good sign! Chatter Box's burger has been voted year after year as the best burger in the Wausau area. What makes the best burger? I don't know, but when you taste it, you'll most likely agree. The buns are soft and homemade, the meat juicy and it's seasoned perfectly. You will also get a choice of sides. Go for the Chippers, they are homemade potato chips with Parmesan cheese. Best of all, were talking budget prices, somewhere around 5 or 6 bucks. Try it, you like it. read more

BEST BEST BEST burger I've had in Wausau!! I grew up in states with In N Out burger and was absolutely HEARTBROKEN to find that there was none of them here! Until I found the chatterbox. They have win best burger YEARS in a row. Of course after hearing that, we had to try a burger. My fiancé and I have decided that this will be a regular place for us. Bartenders are SO awesome! By far worst food I had in a long time! We ordered fish tacos, cheese curds, onion rings, and my sister in law had chicken strips with French fries. The chicken came first while the curds and onion rings came almost a HOUR later! The rings were burnt and the curds was terrible. The fish I had more breading than the actual fish. Now here's the thing that really angered me, my brother gave the food back to the male bartender and he laughed at him and was more worried about his grammar than the food and apologize to him. Not to mention I'm on vacation and I usually work 2nd shift so me having a night out with my family during the week is out of the question. Needless to say I will never go to this place for food ever again! read more

My wife and I each had a Bloody Mary. Mixed well. Good flavor, but not as spicy as it should have been. Wasn't given the option. Our chasers were not cold from the tap. Female bartender was friendly, but disappeared as soon as we got our drinks. Both bartenders seemed more interested in the other clients outside. I wanted another drink, but by the time we were approached by the male tender I was irritated. He asked what our decision was and I opted to close the tab. He seemed a bit irritated from his friendly manor prior. We left and were never thanked. I'm sure we'll return in hopes of a better experience, but it won't be for a while. Our previous times going were much more pleasant, but that was a couple years ago. Not sure what happened. read more

I asked what soft drink they had with no corn syrup and Bartender said Snapple. I said that sounds good. Bartender brought me a Diet Snapple Lemon Tea. I asked him if they had anything else from Snapple and he said no that's all Snapple makes. Total negative attitude and very aggressive Bartender. Not my kind of service read more

After having cheese curds from chatter, I've never come to like them anywhere else. The batter is light and SO flavorful. Dip them in Chatter's ranch and they're even MORE wonderful. They have a nice patio out back, oh and can't forget about their Bloody Mary-they're great here! read more

I've been here before, and I've always enjoyed it. The bar and atmosphere are typically very nice. That being said, after my last experience there, I won't be going back. The bartender was a complete jerk, and that's putting it nicely. We were planning on leaving after I had finished my beer, and when he asked if my boyfriend wanted another one, he asked for a water instead. The bartender went to the end of the bar and proceeded to call me a name, and then call him a "fag." I've been in the service industry for over 12 years, and I've seen a lot. I typically don't let stuff get to me, but this truly pissed me off. He brought the water back and put his pinky up while setting it down, being sure to make sure we could see this action. The problem is, we tipped on the free water. We also tipped over 50% on both of our beers. He had absolutely no reason to treat us that way, and frankly I'm disgusted by his immature and narrorminded comments. I wish I had a better review for this bar because I used to really enjoy it! Unfortunately the bartender's actions are something I can't really look past. read more
