Great food!! Service is impeccable, my wife and I came in at 2:45 PM and they close at 3:00 pm. Jocelyn was a great hostess and server. The restaurant was unusually packed (according to the waitress) on a Tuesday afternoon so she was hustling around like crazy trying to make everyone happy-and it did not go unnoticed- or unappreciated. Wow! My family and I stumbled upon this little spot for lunch after hitting up cosmic cave. The place was excellent from the cozy atmosphere to the great service. We started with appetizers. The mozzarella sticks were out of this world. Honestly probably the best I've had. Okra was great. Mushrooms aren't my thing but those in our group that like them really enjoyed. We loved it so much we go a second round. Lunch meals were all very good. I had the pork sandwich which was great. All of the food was simple but done very well with really good flavor. Exactly what we were looking for. The atmosphere was fun and cozy. Perfect for us city slickers escaping city life. Everyone was very nice and attentive. We will be back. Maybe tomorrow. read more

I will say that their breakfast sausage patties were delicious. Our waitress was not happy...appeared to have "issues". I asked for the gravy on the side of my biscuits and gravy and it came on the biscuits. So, I couldn't really tell you about the quality of the biscuits. read more

Had the small biscuit with sausage. It was bland and the sausage were square and no flavor. It was a disappointment and service was poor. I have had the waffle and french toast before and wouldn't try them again. I have been warned by a friend that it was not a good choice. I have given it 8 to 10 tries over the past couple of years. Only breakfast items I have enjoyed are coffee, pancakes and bacon. After today's experience I doubt I'll return. read more

This was such a cute little joint! Husband and I were in the area looking for a bite to eat, when we quickly realized that Monday is not a great time to dine out in the Eureka Springs/Berryville area. So many places are closed! We finally came across Ozark Cafe and wandered in. I was after breakfast, but they only serve it until 10:45 AM which was sad. But I recovered and ordered fish and chips instead. Hubs ordered the chicken fried steak, which he's pretty picky about, but he said it was good and homemade, not the frozen chicken fry he's come to despise. My fish and chips was exactly what I expected. Battered white fish and crinkle cut fries- nothing overly greasy, which was nice. Perhaps the best part of our lunch was listening to all the locals greet one another as they came in and hearing the waitresses address the other patrons by name. So sweet! In short, exactly what you would expect from a local restaurant. If you are ever in Berryville, AR, I highly suggest you stop in at the Ozark Cafe for lunch. This is a super authentic-feeling outpost in the middle of the Ozarks where they have very friendly service and solid food, as well as live entertainment on the weekends. It's over 100 years old, and you really can feel the history when you walk in the door. Menu options range from the extensive list of specialty burgers (including the "Excaliburger", consisting of 1/2 pound beef patty with two grilled cheese sandwiches serving as the "bun") to entrees like the "Cow Patties", their take on chicken fried steak - served in a frying pan and topped with peppery white gravy. A great way to un-do all the health benefits of a day's hiking (albeit a tasty one). I tried a piece and it was great compared to the other 2-3 times I've tried chicken fried steak. Our party had a pretty good sampling of the menu, including the above mentioned items. We also tried the fried mushrooms and fried pickle appetizers, which were standard - but good. We ate every morsel. Some of the entrees come with a self-serve salad bar, but I didn't try any of that. I opted for the spiciest burger on the menu (I think it was called the "flamethrower") which included hot sauce, cayenne & jalopeno peppers and pepper jack cheese), because who wouldn't want to shit lava while on a camping trip with a limited amount of toilet paper? The burger was great, as were the fries. One MAJOR drawback to this place is that they do not serve beer, which would accompany every dish on the menu perfectly (especially the aforementioned flamethrower). But again, options are limited, so if you're on a camping/hiking/canoeing/floating trip and want to have a hot meal that someone else cooked - this is it. Also, I could see myself getting pretty tanked at this place and not making it back to the campsite, so it might be for the best. There are also a number of awesome-looking desserts, including cakes, ice cream sundaes and old-fashioned ice cream sodas. I didn't try and of them, but you could just tell by looking at them that they were made with care and tasted good. It may benefit slightly from the fact that it's just about the only bona-fide restaurant within miles (at least it was the only one I saw), and that we were starving after a day of travel and hiking. But even so, it's a place I would frequent even if it was surrounded by other options. I wish there were more places like it. And? Portions are great, and very affordable. I will definitely be back here on my next trip to the area, and recommend you do the same. read more
