A lively diner experience with great gravy and tasty pancakes. We stopped here on Valentine's Day for breakfast and had about a 20 minute wait for a table for two. It was well worth it. The gravy was thick and well seasoned and the biscuits were fluffy. My meal also came with a piece of ham that was well cooked and not too sweet, like some breakfast meats. The large pancakes were cooked to perfection, according to my partner. Also had hashbrowns, not pictured but only bc I was too slow before they were scarfed down. Food was great, I ordered fried catfish & shrimp and I hardly ever eat fried food. The batter was well seasoned and lightweight. Normally fried food is 80 batter 20 meat but this, oh my I could taste the seafood and it tasted SO fresh. Service 10/10 Ambiance felt like I was eating in a log cabin in the woods. It was very slow when we got in and we were promptly greeted and told to pick whichever seat we liked. The older lady was very sweet and made sure to keep our waters topped up. Me and my best friend are down in eureka for senior skip day and the place we were going to had the wrong time online so we walked across the way to see if another cafe was open it wasn't open yet they hadn't even started opening duties but a kind man I'm guessing the father of one of the lovely servers in there. They immediately asked us if we wanted coffee and continued to check throughout our whole time there. They allowed us to order a whole hour early and our food was out in minutes. I got 2 pancakes with hash browns and my best friend got biscuits and gravy with one egg and one sausage and we are almost all of it. Our food was so good and hot and we had amazing conversations with all the staff there. The place was very home style and welcoming something you would go to as a kid in the mornings, very nostalgic. I visited with my service dog, who is crucial for my daily functioning and well-being. To my shock and dismay, the staff refused to serve me because of my service dog, despite it being against the law to deny service to someone with a service animal. The staff was not only uninformed about the legal rights of individuals with service animals, but they were also incredibly rude and dismissive when I tried to explain the situation. I felt humiliated and disrespected, and this incident left a bad taste in my mouth--not that I got to taste anything, given that I was denied service! I would strongly advise anyone with a service animal, or anyone who values respect and inclusivity, to avoid this place. There are plenty of other establishments that understand the importance of accessibility and treat all their customers with the dignity they deserve. This cafe was a small joint along the strip of shops that wasn't too busy during lunch so we decided to come in so we didn't have to wait. I ordered the chicken fried chicken (fried perfectly and tasted great) with a side of mashed potatoes and green beans (obviously not made in house or fresh) and white country gravy on top (had no flavor and needed lots of salt and pepper). I honestly expected small town diner food and it's exactly what I got. The service was just fine so no complaints.
