We've driven by this restaurant for years on road trips. We stopped today for lunch. I ordered a salad and the greens and avocado were fresh and the salad was crunchy and delicious. I love this place, probably my favorite local restaurant. It's small but nice inside. Its staff are friendly. The food is amazing and a good price. Love this place so much! We've never had a bad experience here. We've never had a mediocre experience here! The atmosphere is perfect if you're looking for a little casual cafe. The staff is always very nice, very attentive, and helpful. The food has been nothing short of perfect for what this is. From the typical eggs and bacon breakfast, to the blt, to the cheeseburgers and fries, I've never been disappointed yet. I wish I would remember to take some pictures when I go, grr! We're on our way out of Branson after a wonderful week of being in Branson and seeing some wonderful shows and great restaurants. This wasn't a great ending to the week. We stopped for breakfast before our trip back home. My husband and I order similar breakfasts. One egg over medium, hash browns, he got toast and sausage and I got bacon and an English muffin. Our eggs were over easy with the eggs running all over the plate. My husband said the sausage was great. And, the bacon was fine. My English muffin came with no butter on it and none on the side. By the time i got it, the butter didn't melt. And we had NEVER seen hashed browns like they served. They looked like the PikNik Potato Sticks (I think that's what they were called) we had when we were kids and you can still get them in the store. They were not browned at all. They tasted like the Potato Sticks. Absolutely bizarre. If we're ever in the area again I won't choose to go there. read more

I can see how this is a stopover spot. Burger at our table looked incredible. Sunday around lunch they were busy. Don't expect COVID compliance here. Server barely had a mask on and kitchen staff didn't at all. Seating barely spaced and definitely more than the 20 people allowed as posted on the door. Two stars for this. Stopped in for supper on the way home from Harrison. Hubby ordered meatloaf, mashed potato with brown gravy and creamed corn. He said the meatloaf was good and so was the rest of his order. We stopped at this little cafe on the way to ride the ferry at Peel. I ordered the footlong chili cheese dog, and Holy Smokes, it was huge! I'd say it would weigh just under 1/2 pound. I just love a good dog, and I could not finish it, it was so big. I haven't seen a wiener that big in a long time. I'm glad to find a place that truly knows what a good dog is. Thanks y'all. Top Rock is the "country cafe" you're looking for. This small cafe sits conveniently next to the road with ample parking for its size. The small dining area was very comfortable. The first thing we noticed was the smell: CLEAN! Wow it's rare nowadays for a small place like this to be so clean, especially for an older building. Obviously these people understand the importance of changing the grease in their fryer. The staff was extremely friendly. Small town folks treated by small town folks. They know their regulars by name and treated us as if they'd known us just as long. Drinks were filled with haste. Food was made and delivered immediately. If you're not a regular and you tip these folks less than a $5 you're just doing it wrong. All servers could learn from these "Arkansawyers" (Sorry if I spelled that incorrectly). Finally the food. My dad and I had pretty much all fried food. He had the catfish lunch with "twisters" (curly fries) and I had an appetizer platter as a meal. The sizes were appropriate and the quality was great. Restaurant owners take note: these people can teach you a thing or two about keeping your fryer clean. If you're a fan of fried food but, like me, haven't come across anything good in YEARS, this is your place. I highly recommend the fried pickles. They use the spears rather than the sandwich pickles and they're AWESOME! The poppers were great too. read more

I had the meatloaf lunch special which came with mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans and a roll. It came with a big portion of meatloaf with a slight barbecue flavor. Well, THAT was a pleasant surprise! Two friends and I stopped in for breakfast on a return trip from Branson. We were skeptical as there was only one server and all the empty tables were dirty. Yet the local folks were there and their dishes looked tasty, so we stayed. We each ordered bacon, eggs, wheat toast and coffee. The coffee was excellent with none of the burned acidic taste associated with diner java. Eggs and bacon cooked to perfection. Service was prompt and attentive. We were on a road trip and hungry. We stopped at Top Rock based on the yelp reviews. We had three chicken baskets. All were made to order. The chicken strips were made with real chicken and not the processed stuff. The french fries and onion rings were good. Our Favorite surprise were the fried pies! We ordered chocolate, peanut butter chocolate, peach and blackberry, they were ALL DELICIOUS! The girls working packaged our order so that it was easy for us to eat while driving. My wife and I like the little hamlet of Alpena, Arkansas. We pass thru there occasionally. The last time thru we stopped at The Diner and had a hamburger. It was good. I would recommend it. Later, on our way out of town we passed the Top Rock Cafe and made a mental note to try it sometime. So today we were on our way home from Mountain View and a family vacation with all the married children and grandchildren. It was lunch time and Linda and I were both hungry so we pulled in and both of us ordered a hamburger. Linda ordered a regular hamburger and, after finding out the patties were a quarter pound, I ordered a double burger. We both got fries as well. This was a very good hamburger. It wasn't greasy at all, but was still flavorful and cooked just right. We also saw that they offer a large burger called the Leopard Burger named after the school mascot. I think I'll try it next time although I will probably need a doggy bag or maybe Linda and I could split it. Hey! That's beginning to sound like a plan! ;-) read more
