I was having severe difficulty getting into the vans and their drivers very gently picked me up and put me into the vans. They were always timely, courteous, and good drivers - and since I used to drive medical transport, I know what a good driver looks like. I still use them for local transportation as they are very reliable and cost competitive with the local cabs - which are not nearly as reliable even if you book ahead. I cannot say enough good things about Arkansas Journey Tours. They are the best.

Pinnacle Mountain State Park is a nice place to to spend your day doing hiking and it's only about…read more20 minutes from downtown Little Rock. I spent a few hours hiking on one of the more difficult hiking trails and it was a great experience! The trail was clean and well labeled, but the only difficult part was locating the same trail markers going down the mountain, especially since there are so many rocks and boulders throughout the entire terrain so it was very easy to miss several trail markers on the way down. I love that the state park offers a variety of trails and difficulty levels, so whether you are a beginner hiker or a more experienced hiker, you are bound to have a good time. I enjoyed the trail and the experience of doing some rock climbing, and if I'm ever in the area again I will definitely come back!

For context, we were told there is a "hard" side or an "extra hard" side to hike LOL. We chose the "hard" side. You do need some moderate physical fitness - a good portion of the "trail" was just spray-painted yellow marks on large rocks and boulders you have to climb. But we did it all in under 2 hours? Great views from the top, and there is a wonderful playground in the middle of the parking lot too! What a unique and fun experience. Honorable mention: we saw a raccoon in a Christmas sweater.

Lake Catherine-- We absolutely love this lake!…read more Although, I felt like things were not labeled as they should have been during the hike of "Falls Creek Falls". There were marks on trees during the hike that were red, white and yellow, but I had no idea what those meant. Maybe this part of town is less touristy and more locals, because people had set up hammocks, and all of their things that they needed for the night/day around the waterfall after the hike. I spoke to a sweet man and woman on a golf cart who seemed to work there, as they were going around and changing papers for the reservations for there were trailers in the parking lot, and they advised us on where to go and park. They did advise us that if you go on the trails, if you go towards the left, the hike is shorter and it's about a 1/2 a mile, and if you go towards the right, it's about a mile and a 1/2 Which is a great tip because, of course, we wanted to take the shorter route. We had a toddler and an elderly person with us, and so we did not want to do a strenuous hike. This hike was just enough for us to feel better adventurous, and like we accomplished something when we got to the falls. The falls were beautiful, and the water looked gorgeous. Although, I did see later on another app, that a lot of times sewer water gets into the falls. Unfortunately, we had decided to take a dip even though we didn't have swim suits just because it looks so refreshing but it's just something to keep in mind. Overall, we would definitely come here again! It looks like a great place to bring lunch and hang out and eat after a great hike!

He drove us all around Hot Springs and gave us the low down on the all the different areas in the city. We were able to get off and on the trolley a few times to explore some areas a little bit. The best part is that we got to fill up on some hot springs ourselves. They provide you a little water bottle and you go to these spouts and fill up. I've never seen anything like it. They have these spouts all over town and people come from all around to fill their bottles and containers with this spring water. And it comes out hot, about 143 degrees. Don't miss out on the trolley tour, there is a lot of valuable information here.

Due to a big rain earlier, we could not take the trip we had signed up for, but he worked with us and got us out on a different nearby river. My son and I got what amounted to a private tour on the water. He's a knowledgeable guy and very nice. Little Rock is a very beautiful area and Sam took us pretty deep into it. We learned a lot of the history and the natural features of the area, got in a pretty good workout, and had a great time. Sam also does bike tours and will tour the Arkansas River in the downtown area on kayaks and can also go out on a barge. We would do everything with him if time permitted but we were only there for a day. Time permitting, we will be back there one day and I'm hoping sooner rather than later. If you're in Little Rock I highly recommend look up Sam Ellis at Rock Town River Outfitters.

The bike I rented was the most basic one, but very comfortable and was a smooth ride. Very happy they provide a helmet. I rented in December and the weather was just right. I just sweated a bit pedaling through the wind to get to the Big Dam Bridge! I also got to see the beautiful fall foliage. Again, highly recommend biking to see some of Little Rock's awesome sites and get a taste of nature.

This is a neat little gem that you will find in Riverfront Park right behind the River Market. It…read moreis a unique outdoor art gallery that is home to over 100 unique sculptures by artist from across the country. The pieces are situated in which are known as "rooms". The sculptures run pretty much the length of the river. Just when you think you have reached the end, another one pops up. I took photos of many of the sculptures, but there was no way I would have gotten all of them. I found one sculpture in the series, titled STEADY, all the way down by the Clinton Library. Fitting it is of Bill Clark, who the park that the sculpture sits in front of is named after. If you are looking to get more bang for your buck, you will find a high concentration of sculptures around the XIX Amendment Plaza in the Park. Parking to see this garden is relatively simple. You can find metered street parking within a reasonable walking distance of the section of the Garden you want to see. The meters run from 8AM to 6PM and are free all other times. The Garden began in 2004, with around 30 sculptures, but is always expanding. A piece is selected to be added annually. Most recently in November 2022 they added a sculpture of Daisy Bates, a civil rights activist, publisher, and journalist who played a pivotal role in the fight for civil rights in Little Rock. This Garden is free and open to the public which is awesome. I have paid to see much less. They have some real nice pieces in this Garden but my favorites were Breaking the Cycle by Kevin Kreese, Joy by Nnamdi Okonkwo, Over the Moon by Craig Campbell and Through Looking Glass by Mark Leichliter. The garden appears well maintained and I really loved the concept of bringing public art to the people. This is definitely a must see while in Little Rock. It is centrally located, so it can easily be paired with visits to other attractions to maximize your time. I highly recommend taking some time out and enjoying the art, nature are river.

There's a jogging track, a few piers to fish from, a kids playground and hiking trails that lead back into the woods. There's 53 acres to explore and I have been told, an excellent 4th of July fireworks display held by the water.
