I want you, dear reader, to imagine being a child in the late 2000s. Smart Phones aren't quite accessible yet, so you have no means of entertainment aside from what's in front of you. You are a younger (or youngest) sibling of a one parent household and your parent does not trust you to be alone. Your sibling is invited to a group event but has to drag you along because of this. "This is not how I chose to spend my day, but I will try to make the most of it." You naively think. This Paintball thing sounds kind of fun after all, you've been playing shooters on and off and think it'd be fun to do this in real life. You have to wait the whole drive there because, again, you have no phone to run games on (or at least, not any worth playing) You get to the venue and you are introduced to a few people and given your equipment, noticing the different paintguns available. One of these guns is fed from the top, the other is fed from the back. Both of these are gas-powered, so you don't think much of it to start. You are given some protective gear and get into the first match. You look at your weapon, ready to finally do something. You pull the trigger... Nothing. No click, no round fired, nothing. You, in your adolescent mind, try inspecting the gun to see if there's an easy fix. It's a closed system, so there's nothing you can do. You find a referee and tell them your weapon is broken, and are brought to where the other weapons are. You hand in your defective paintgun, and are sat out for the next half hour doing. absolutely. nothing. Next round starts, you are handed a new (but very similar) paintgun. You test it with a trigger pull... Again, Nothing. You find another referee and turn in the gun but then ask if you can have one of those top-fed rifles. Surely that one won't break, right? "That's for paying customers." You just got handed two broken paintguns in a group activity and are told the models that probably do work are not allowed to you because you are a guest. You're shit out of luck, wait for round 3. Pull the trigger... IT FIRES! Maybe a bit too fast, you figure, but it at least works! You are directed to your starting spot, the whistle is blown, and you peek out of cover. You begin firing on where you think someone is, not actually sure but figure you can lay down some suppressing fire! EXCEPT... A referee approaches, sees you firing full auto, and forbids you from firing again, saying the gun is broken. You are forced to, for a third time in a row, sit out the rest of the match. You'd rather be home playing on the Xbox, this trip has been a colossal waste of your time. There's one more round at least... Broken, again. No firing. You just sit there, behind a tree, on a sweaty summer day, for thirty minutes, because you have completely given up on the staff here. No one will help you, and the equipment that actually works is not being given to you because you "aren't a paying customer." This is my only experience with Paintball. Three guns that jammed, and a fourth that had me immediately disqualified. Only a decade later do I realize how completely unjust this was and come on Yelp to leave a black mark on this website like they left a black paintball on my heart. read more

What an amazing place. I didn't even know this was here and the last time I played paintball was in the 90's so it's been a minute. We were invited to play as an end of hockey season party from my son's coach. I was out of the game for about 10 years waiting for my son to age up. This was his first experience and I couldn't be happier. They give rentals and families a choice to play only with others like them and use a smaller ball that doesn't punish the way standard balls do. Dave was our head ref and he and the other refs with him were attentive and responsive. Good job everyone! read more

PnL has a lot of build up, but the organization is really poor. The owner is money-focused so everything is expensive and they "ban" everything except the wierd brand of balls they sell which are totally overpriced. Gas is free which is nice. The snack shop is useless. The guy took 10 minutes to give me a coke and I was the only one in line, figure that out. The big problem with PnL is that the games are poorly organized. The refs do absolutely nothing so cheating is rampant. Most of the game is kids screaming at each other about hits. A lot of players wipe routinely. The games are way too long (45 minutes+) so you often run out of ammo or gas. There are long delays between games so there is a boredom factor. Also, they allow multiple "lives" so you eliminate a guy and 10 seconds later he is shooting at you again so 90% of the games end in stalemates. Also, with multiple "lives" everybody has marks all over them so it makes it easier for the cheaters (who are abundant). The team discrimination is by yellow tape tied around one arm which is very hard to see and often you have no idea if you are shooting at a teammate or not. The fields are overbuilt with a lot of structures and are on the small side. This combined with the one-game-at-a-time system results in massive overpopulation and automatic stalemates. There is a ghost town, it looks cool, but it is the worst game. Everyone cheats and there is no way to tell who is an enemy. One guy on my team had like 10 hits on him and he was running around shooting out of windows. It was a joke. read more

Rob, the owner and Dom, our ref were awesome! A group of my friends and I (12 of us) went there a couple weeks ago for an air soft game, and it was great. We brought our own guns and were missing a couple things, and they didn't hesitate at any time to help and provide us with what we needed. And during the game, our ref was fair and made the rules clear. The time for the games felt fair and we went through about four games in different towns during our time there. We probably would have done more but we wasted time setting up. We plan to go back for paintball soon. read more

I've gone here for a couple of years (in the spring/summers) and I've had a pretty good experience. My fiance is the one who got me into playing and while I was nervous at first, I've found the sport to be enjoyable and exciting! I have to say that P & L has a fair amount of fields to play on (as well as a ghost town) so that you can get a good experience and different types of games. Some are in the woods, some on more open fields. Your experience will depend largely on the other people playing (in an open game) and on the refs. I've played with some really cool people and also some real jerks. That means the people are either fair and respectful or they cheat (don't call themselves out after being shot) and don't mind causing you to have bleeding wounds (from shooting you at a close range instead of asking you to surrender). I've found most of the refs to be cool and fair. I find the older the ref, the more experience and the better they are as refs. Usually most games only have one or two refs, so they can't be everywhere and they do their best to keep teams and games fair. I have my own equipment and luckily, my fiance knows what is good to get and I have a nice gun, etc. but overall playing this sport is expensive. We buy paint at P&L and get the cheapest they have and don't have too many problems. We've brought our own paint and it's not that much cheaper. I am not sure how much it costs to rent a gun. I never buy snacks on site but it's a good idea to bring granola bars or trail mix to snack on in between games. We bring water and Gatorade. I've even seen people have a pizza delivered! We usually eat a big meal after spending the day playing. Don't forget paper towels and a water bottle with a spray head to clean your masks and guns between games! People often seem to leave out these items! They do come in handy and we tend to bring a big chest of tools, extra parts, etc. Overall I have enjoyed my times at P&L! read more

Pros: The variety of fields (including Ghost Town), game attendance can be from tiny (5v5) to huge (30 v 30+), the refs are fair, helpful, and have a great sense of humor. Cons: Jacked up rental paint prices, no outside paint allowed, cash only while you're out on the fields (paint, upgrades, food) Was shot 6x once I surrendered and the ref banned the offender, just as he should have been. Obviously the poor refs weren't on the field that day. read more

I had never been paint balling before...actually I bought a paintball gun back in the day when it first was hot, never actually used it, sold it..thank god the mischief I would have caused if I knew how cool it was earlier. The first time I went was with over 30 people for a bachelor party not really knowing what to expect. Here today with two of my kids age 11 girl and boy age 13. They loved it and me Mom too.. Good way to have fun with your teenagers. Do recommend covering gear for $5 and thinker ones to protect you in case afraid of bruises are cuts.. But can also wear legging/jeans/ sweater. Do give yourself 4 hours to enjoy. One of the best fields in the New England area in my opinion. I have been paintballing for seven years and P&L is the the place to be. No matter what game you want to play, the referee will cycle to that field as long as you ask. From Woodsball, urban, to speedball. Downside: The only con I've encountered is if people reserve private games. They can sometimes hog a field to two hours. P&L also closes early as well since they are an outdoor facility, but I've heard the referees talking about night game set ups in the near future. read more

Went with my buddies and our girl friends, relatively cheap, they had a full BBQ grilling station, and the pros were able to fix my gun I thought was permanently broken. The owner was completely rude. When he realized his team screwed up and booked my bachelor party on a day they were going to close, he told us he would honor it but everyone has to pay in advance over the phonw and not at the day of the event. When I called and tried to make a payment, he said I had to pay the eighty dollar option and anything less wasn't worth it to him. He tried so hard to sleeze his way out of honoring his commitment.i tried to work with him, but he was just rude and unhelpful at every turn. The other reviews were right. He cares about money. I had a great time painballing here today but it could have been way better. My group tried to use the groupon but in the end we still forked over $152 in paint (for 3 people) and 2 masks. When we walked in to the store we handed in our waivers and a gift certificate and explained how we were using the groupon. Here's where we got confused; as the man working the counter was talking to us another employee was testing a gun in this very small shop with a low ceiling so you couldnt hear anything. We'd called ahead to make sure we would only be paying $30 tops. The way rentals worked was " all or nothing" so I was forced to buy a mask. And, of course they were out of the cheapest mask ($15) so i had to pay $20! This place is crazy expensive and i swear they care more about money than attracting customers. Also, the paint you have to buy from them isnt allowed in their own guns! The sets they have to play games of paint ball are pretty sweet but i really dont think it was worth the money. Dont bother with the snack shack. The referees do a good job explaining rules of games but they are not so good at enforcement. I'm giving this place 2 stars for their money based interests and confusing service. I had a good time but I dont think i would go again anytime soon, i'd rather play in my friends back yard. read more

I've been doing a tour of paintball fields within an hour of Boston and this place has the best woodsball fields. They have at least 6 fields, and some incredible 2 and 3 story structures/towns to play from. Their speedball field is mediocre, made of big wooden spools. Pro-shop is good, decent prices and the repair techs are super helpful. On the downside, they charge $100 a case for paintballs, most expensive place around for paint. But if you have your own equipment, you can bring your own paint and the field/air fees are pretty reasonably priced. read more

This place has soo much potential to be better than is it. The field and maps are alright but the rental gear is the absolute WORST I've ever used. By the time you get to the field your mask are already super fogged up, to the point where you literally cant see a damn thing. The markers were also shit. Everybody on the field had issues with the rental markers. I give 2 stars because the refs were nice even though they dont pay attention to the game. I used 500 paintballs in 1 game because people kept getting hit and not getting out of the game. The game times are really long like 25+ mins. Only recommendation is to get better rental gear and have the refs pay attention. The refs literally just stand there and watch. They arent even paying attention to the game. read more

I've been playing at this field regularly for the past two years. Prices are reasonable and there is a large variety of fields to play on. The refs are usually on the ball and pay close attention to the games they are running. The refs are strict about safety and repeat the barrel bags/masks spiel almost every game. This is very important. On a typical Saturday or Sunday there can be anywhere between 15-50 walk on players. Though there are some negative things. -Wait times. There have been days where there has been 30 min waits between games. -Variety. Pnl has many wonderful areas to play. Despite this I've been there on days when we have played blue barrels almost every game. -Crazy 25 vs. 25 player games. This is fun once or twice but always turns into hide your head until half the players are eliminated then move up. This is a great field for both the newcomer and seasoned vets. Rental equipment is in good condition and the employees know what they are talking about. I would recommend Pnl to anyone interested in the sport if paintball. read more

Been here on and off. The staff is nice enough. People have said this place is expensive, I really don't know what they are talking about. They are about the same prices as the other locations, if not a little lower. I have rented, okay prices, but now used my own equipment, which does help out a decent amount. The Pro shop has all your basics covered, anything you need, they probably have it. This place is probably best known for their ghost town. Two story set up with a jail house in the middle with one other structure, smilier to an old western town. Several other decent sized fields. With busier days, sometimes there can be a bit of waiting for field use. Its not bad though. I'm usually a walk on. I've always meet friendly players there, every now and then few kids lacking basic manners. Overall good experience. Recommend for first timers. For some of the cons listed in other reviews, first off you are there to play. Basic prep for an active day outside, I bring my own drinks. With few other guys there, have ordered pizza for delivery to the field. As for wiping and cheating, I have never experienced any of this. If they do, bonus balls? Now the only actual con that should be mentioned is the lack of an air field, which means no speedball. read more

This review is most relevant to private groups. It was $100 extra for the group to be private (so for 8 of us about $12 extra each) Our ref was really cool and let us play a variety of games each on a different field. The fields were really fun and varied quite a bit. All in all it was a good value for paintball and is a great place for a group. We bought a living social deal for this place. The deal got us all our rental equipment, but we each had to buy our own paint for $30 and plus the private group cost. So just over $40 per person for a full day of small group paintballing. The cost was definitely hidden from us as presented in the living social deal, but was still less expensive than it would be somewhere else. I can't comment on the public group play, but for a private group I'd definitely return here again. read more

Ref's could not control the group, they had to end a game early because people were not getting out after being hit, moving the barricades and shooting people getting off the field. After the match people were taking off masks prematurely and the refs walked over told them to sit out a game but they just went back in for the next open call. Multiple people not following the surrender rule either getting shot at point blank range from someone blind firing over a barricade is not fun. Refs even said they would not play us in ghost town because the group of people were too out of control. There were too many people and not enough refs in each game. it was about 80 people and 2 refs. The Airplane field blows as well. It's too overgrown with weeds and is not well set up for the type of games they have had us play on it. They stick you in basically a fenced off castle type of place with no way of getting out and into cover after you leave and try to have you bring a bomb to the airplane that's basically the start of the other team. To top everything off, one person in our group needed to exchange his "Advanced" gun that we payed extra for 3 times before he got one that could fire somewhat consistently. My gun only fired ~3 balls before I needed to shake it due to their shitty gravity fed hoppers. read more

First off, I call them to see if they were open on Easter Sunday and they said yes. I arrive on Easter to see that its closed and the guy there says "we haven't been open on Easter for years"..... Then when you get there, the equipment you receive as part of the rent package (gun, ammo pack belt, C02 tank) arent in good condition. The belt I got didnt have a clip so i had to tie it around my waist. The gun would leak somewhere so I would run out of C02 mid match. Then when you play a game, the ref really doesnt do anything. Just stands there. There are people there with much better guns and have calibrated it to illegal shooting speeds so when you get hit, you know you got hit. Those individuals with personal performance guns also play dirty and shoot you in the back of the head when you are hit initially and have to go back to the home base to get back in the game. Obviously the ref does nothing the whole game so even if you get hit twice (which means you have to go back to home base), those pro players will keep shooting you in the head and back. Not a fun place if there is a disadvantage. The maps are cool tho. read more

Excellent place to play the sport of paint ball as a group, family, or paintball team. I came here yesterday with my friends and the paint ball guns were very good quality. They have a variety of different paint ball games such as ghost town which is a little village to play paintball in. Or capture the flag. The prices on renting a gun and on paint balls are very good. You also get unlimited nitrogen for the day! The workers are very nice to. Neck guards only cost $5. Great place for beginner paint ball players or experienced players. They are just to expensive on the upgrades, paint grenades, and smoke grenades. We had a great time! I will come back again! read more

Staff at pro shop and fill station were very rude! Pro shop is nothing special went up to field brought the wrong batteries asked for 3 AA he stated how much"really?" I stated a dollar for 3 AA he told Me 3 dollars! Rip! Had very long wait times between games! Spoke to ref about the wait time he stated people need to fill there guns and get more paint, not for 20 minutes not every game. All they ever played was respawn " waste of paint" except for spools. Took my son and some of his friends out for a day of paint ball with a groupon we bought. The facilities are nice and the equipment worked. The problem was on the fields. The referees had no control over the games and it was a free-for-all. They would try and state rules and nobody listened or cared and did what they wanted to. Players just flat out ignored the refs and shot when people were out or surrendered. Watch a grown man destroy a little kid until he cried and the refs did nothing to prevent or stop it. I would never go back to this place or recommend others to patronize it. I threatened to beat the hell out of some guy which is against the rules and they didn't care. They just want your money and don't care about your safety or enjoyment factor once you pay. read more
