This was great since we are staying in a hotel! This is a really cute spot in Eureka Springs. Not too far outside of downtown. There is parking but not a bunch so it stayed pretty full. We decided to share. We got a dinner salad, summer rolls (not fried here) with shrimp, and the avocado curry with chicken. They do have fried rolls but they call them spring rolls here. I'm used to spring rolls being the rice paper and not fried. They have both. The spring rolls were very good. The peanut sauce is a bit sweet for me but still good. You get 4! The dinner salad was plenty for both of us. I'm not sure what the dressing is that came with it but it was way too sweet for us. I don't think it was a Ginger dressing which I thought would be their house. We would have preferred another dressing but otherwise enjoyed the salad. The avocado curry with chicken was very good. I never know what spice level to get. Some places are too mild and others are hotter even at low levels. My partner doesn't like a lot of spice. I couldn't decide if I should go with mild at 1 (on a scale of 1-5) or go with 2 because I do like some spice (but not so much I can't taste the food). The really nice woman up front said, we can do 1.5 so I said, yes! Well, I guess I am in Arkansas... ha ha. I will definitely ask for 3 when I'm back again. I couldn't taste any heat. Otherwise, the avocado curry was very good. Unique for me. I had not had avocado curry before. Had a bunch of large pieces of avocado! We would definitely go back to Thai House when visiting again. It's one of the only Asian restaurants I have seen in town.

Well Yelpers, I've found my new fave Northwest Arkansas restaurant! TBH, I wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived. It looked like a modernized restaurant with an open kitchen. I opened the door to the restaurant and waited to check in and a handsome young boy asked if I had reservations and I advised I didn't and he asked if I wanted to sit indoor or outdoor. He grabbed a menu and helped me to my table. I was quickly greeted by a staff member and given a glass of water and was told that there isn't an assigned server but that multiple staff members will work together to attend my table. After eating American and Italian food all week on my business travels, I was craving some authentic simple home cooked food and this location brought me virtually home for dinner. For those of you that know me or have been following my review journey, have gotten to know my household ethnicities. When I saw the House 1830 Menu, it was a delightful mix of Vietnamese and Laotian food! The color purple was present from accent walls by the kitchen to my cloth napkin on the plate sets, to the "seasonal" menu font color all tie together with staff uniforms including the outdoor purple umbrella above the outdoor seating space. They even have custom pillows on the bench seating with the House 1830 logos. Susana, one of the owners came to greet me and asked if I've been here before or if it's my first time. She shared that her husband Binh was the head chef today and many patrons typically think it's a fusion restaurant but it's really a family inspired menu that keeps the food as authentic as possible. Binh is Vietnamese and their sister in law Bé is Laotian. I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Bé as she was celebrating her birthday elsewhere as she should. Susana shared that her contribution is the inspired cocktail menu...which had so many yummy options that you don't see anywhere else. They had a Lychee Martini on the menu but I see it often everywhere so I ordered the Longan Martini to try and it was delish! I started with my roots and ordered a Vietnamese House Sampler described as a sampling of the crowd favorite starters. Cha Gio | Mini Banh Xeo | Bo Xien Tam for $21. The eggrolls were crispy and had the right amount of filling well seasoned, the Bite-size Banh Xeo shrimp crepes was light and the flash fried marinated beef skewers were seasoned to perfection with a family marinade. Lettuce, cilantro, mint along with the various nuoc cham (dipping sauces) were great! I didn't want to fill up as I wanted one of my favorite Lao dishes Nam Khao - Crispy red curry seasoned rice combined with small chunks of cured pork, and spices. It comes with lettuce, mint, cilantro where you can eat it like a lettuce wrap or eat it as is like fried rice for $18. This light entree for me hit the spot. The staff was exceptional, occasionally stopping g by to check if my water was ok or if I needed anything. I went to check out the bathroom to wash my hands and thought the wall murals were trendy and happy to see the restrooms were clean. I stopped at the open kitchen and complimented the chef and his staff on my delicious meal. They were very cheery and thankful for the compliment. Went back to my table and contemplated another cocktail or dessert but I was really beyond stuffed and figured I'll be back and to save options for my next visit. Chef Binh stopped by my table and we started talking about a little of everything. The restaurant concept, the seasonally inspired menu and to keep things fun for regular diners, shhhh....you didn't hear it from me...but there's even a secret menu that changes often! You'll have to ask or sign up to get the details! You don't get many seasonal menu options from Asian restaurants so I love that they have a seasonal menu and a secret one that only the special members know about! Come check out House 1830! But in practice, it was initially bumpy and overwhelming. We got asked for our drink order like 3 times, by 3 different people in less than 5 minutes. The service itself was preventing me from being able to read the menu! There are some unique cocktails, so I actually needed to focus and read about them. Our food was really, really good. We ordered a couple appetizers (wish they had fresh spring rolls in addition to the fried ones), and my husband had the Crying Tiger Steak, which was mouthwatering (though pretty fatty/gristly -- could've used a tad more butchering). Both the appetizers and my husband's steak came with specific instructions from the server of how to eat it properly: first put this on it, then add this, etc. It's not my favorite when chefs tell me HOW to eat their food. Can I just eat it? And figure it out for myself, how I like it? We aren't from Arkansas, and from what I can see, House 1830 is not a typical local restaurant, which is great. If you have ever been to a Thai restaurant, you know that menu has a lot of curry, pad thai, noodles rice, etc. with various proteins. There is also the heat levels: 1-5 and then Thai Heat. Our server, Champ, was very friendly and attentive and took care of all our dining needs. We started with the Fresh Spring Rolls and the Crab Rangoon as appetizers. Both appetizers were delicious and well prepared. The spring rolls say 2 on the menu, but apparently, they are big so they cut them in two, so you end up getting 4 good sized rolls. For our entrees, my wife ordered the Red Duck Curry, which is prepared with large medallions of duck, coconut milk, basil and a variety of vegetables. She chose heat level 2, which is hot enough for her. She chose the white rice with the meal. I ordered the Bangkok Mango, which is prepared with shrimp, scallops and squid simmered in a Panang Curry and stir fried fresh mangoes, bell peppers and basil. That seems a bit steep. Not tamed down Midwest spicy, or just kind of spicy. And honestly, as someone who frequents Thai places, they're some of the best I've had! They have plenty of vegetarian options here for those of you looking for something edible in Branson. I would definitely order from here again.

Meanwhile, they had literally just seated other customers moments before us. Every sign on the door and online indicated they close at 3:00 PM, so refusing service 25 minutes early made absolutely no sense. If the kitchen stops taking customers before closing, that needs to be clearly posted. Otherwise, customers should reasonably expect to be served during advertised business hours. The inconsistency and poor customer service were frustrating, especially after making the effort to come in before closing. Definitely not a welcoming experience.
