They would let us go drop off the one heavy item we brought though. They weren't able to give us cash, so we had to wait over a week for a small check. If you are allergic to bees, this isn't the place for you. Because of the dripping soda, alcohol, etc. from the cans and bottles, there are bees everywhere.

If the actual cutoff time is earlier than what's posted, it would be helpful and more respectful to customers' time to clearly state that. A notice indicating a 3:45 PM cutoff would help avoid confusion and unnecessary trips. (I went to two different Sunset Recycling down that were down the street from each other and I was denied at both of them)

When I'm was a kid, there was a certain entertainment value to taking a trip "to the dump." My dad…read morewould load up the truck with old junk and off we would go into the foothills where, for a nominal fee, you could push all the crap out of your truck onto the ground... all while flocks of seagulls and crows poked through the trash for food while giant bulldozers and other cool machinery pushed the huge piles of stuff around. Fast forward 35 years, and now I am the dad with a big truckload of broken flooring and wall plaster that needs to go somewhere. Turns out the dump I went to as a kid is now all filled up, and features a golf course atop all those piles of trash buried beneath. So, with a huge mess on my hands, I started calling around to see where I could legally get rid of some stuff. I called this MRF, and they actually answered their phone. Since this simple move seems to be a rarity in the local industry, I ended up going there. I arrived at the facility, pulled my truck into the vehicle scale, and approached the window. COVID rules play here, but with the dust and god knows what blowing around, it's a good idea to mask up anyway. The place also requires patrons to wear safety vests, and they sell them for about five bucks if you don't have one. Note well: it ain't cheap. All sorts of rules, regulations, taxes, fees and the like have made this gig practically a Ben Franklin cost per trip. But I suppose it's better than trying to dump it illegally or hassling the "two scoops at a time" routine in your weekly trash pick up. They also did not weigh my truck on the way out, so I guess they just use a tare weight in my make and model. Who knows? Regardless, I made two trips here and got rid of most of the junk I needed to.

We rented a trailer and brought a lot of our trash that couldn't fit in our house bins. Minimum charge is $74 for a ton and you need a yellow vest for whoever is in the car that's going to go down. If you don't have one they sell it for like $4-5 dollars each one. So easy! And such a clean site for the fact that it's a place you dump trash! Would come back! Brother comes here to recycle items and it's a no fuss, in and out experience that happens pretty…read morequickly. We drive there, he stops the car, takes out our bag of recyclables and we get the cash on the spot. They give you a receipt too. We only ever recycle bags of drinks cans and bottles here so I can't comment too much about recycling other goods but if we were going to give it to someone else or just toss it out, the tens of dollars we do get after months of collecting is worth it for the convenience of it all. So in my opinion, pretty worth it for the amount of goods recycled and little effort needed.

It was time to help Mother Earth, so I separated the plastic bottles (the caps can be left on in this county) from the aluminum cans and headed to Gina's Recycling Center. There was a woman in a wheelchair - I thought she might be Gina, but she turned out to be a customer and she only spoke Chinese. I couldn't understand her. A male worker was there, but he only spoke Spanish. I asked him in English if they take counted bottles and cans or is it by weight only? He couldn't answer. It seems like they had been closed for lunch break. Another worker arrived, opened the door, and spoke English. Cans and bottles are by weight only. Okay. Thank you! I poured the cans into one bin and poured the bottles into another. I signed the receipt and got some cash... thanks! Note: Closed on Wednesdays
