P.F. Chang's is a nationwide chain that I've been to a handful of times over the years. Mostly in Houston. The same company owns Pei Wei. Think of P.F. Chang's as a more expensive, upscale version of Pei Wei. When I found out that this location in South Scottsdale started it all, I knew I had to check it out. I stopped by on a Wednesday for dinner. I found free street parking a couple of minutes away by foot. Ambiance (4.5/5): The original P.F. Chang's is a beautiful restaurant. There are two large horse sculptures outside of the restaurant. Once you go inside, you'll see a trendy establishment with Asian decor. For some reason, it gives me Vegas vibes. We sat at a booth. And the area surrounding the restaurant is just as beautiful. It's on the water. It's a nice area to take a stroll. And there are many others restaurants, bars, and shops in the area. Service (3.5/5): Friendly service, though a bit slow. With that being said, I appreciated that when we tried to order two cups of wonton soup, our waiter recommended that it would be a better deal to order a bowl. It's cheaper that way and you get more soup. That was a nice touch. At the same time, he poured our wine without giving me a taste yet. And with it being a white wine, he also didn't chill it at the table. These are standard practices when it comes to wine services that sometimes get lost at chain restaurants. It's all about the proper training. Drinks (4.5/5): P.F. Chang's has a nice list of cocktails and the usual assortment of beverages you see when there's a full bar. With that being said, we focused on wine. The reason? On Wednesdays, all bottles of wine are half off. That's a deal I couldn't pass up. We went with a bottle of Pinot Grigio from Venice. Food (4/5): A bit of a hit and a miss. I'm a big fan of wonton soup. P.F. Chang's iteration was elevated in the sense that included ingredients you typically don't see in this dish including shrimp, chicken, and mushrooms. Unfortunately, it missed the mark. The broth was flavorless. The chicken was bland. There weren't a a lot of dumplings in the soup. It was disappointing. A total 180 occurred when I received my beef teriyaki. Prepared in a wok, the protein came with pineapple, veggies, and was served with my choice of white rice or brown rice. I went with brown rice. The teriyaki was absolutely delicious. The sweet teriyaki was so good that I couldn't help to eat it all. While the prices are a bit steep for a chain, P.F. Chang's is solid (with a few flaws). read more

We met several friends at P.F. Chang's for an early dinner. For beverages, we ordered wine, beer, and pomegranate lemonade. We decided on a few appetizers first. We had an order of lettuce, wrapped chicken, pork potstickers, and one dragon roll sushi. For the main course, we had another order of dragon roll, sushi, crispy, honey chicken, firecracker shrimp, 2 pepper beefs, and Buddha's Feast. Service was very quick and all dishes came out at once. All dishes were quite good and satisfying. It was a nice meal. Arriving early was a good idea for conversing. Several free covered parking and valet options. Went here to redeem my free appetizer for my birthday. I got the spicy tuna on crispy rice. It's one of my favorite dishes and PF Chang's did a great job! It's new on the menu and may be seasonal. But I enjoyed it! Then we got the Mongolian trio and the Singapore street noodles. Both were great. I really like the food here. It's very tasty. I don't like the high prices though. It's probably not worth $27 for the Mongolian trio but I still liked it. Our server was excellent. She came out right away and checked in often. This was a really cool experience! I went with my mom and it turns out that this location is one of the corporate locations so they actually introduce and try out dishes that are not in some of their other franchisees. My mom and I really enjoyed the lobster dumplings. read more

Here for happy hour. Made a meal out of their appetizers. My favorite were Chang's lettuce wraps: chicken in a savory sauce, served with crispy rice sticks and fresh lettuce cups. Bbq pork spare ribs were tender and slow-braised & glazed in tangy bbq sauce, topped with sesame seeds. Pan fried pork dumplings with chili dipping sauce. Bartender was very nice & helpful. Not the best experience of Pf Changs. Chicken, lettuce, wraps, good ordered the Buddha feast doesn't taste as good as it used to. Order a couple appetizers and right after those came out we had ordered fried rice and it came out probably 7 to 8 minutes before our main courses came out. We said the fried rice was going to be for our main courses so by the time our main courses got there the fried rice was cold. I ordered the orange chicken and on the menu it states it's just traditional orange chicken and if you want it spicy, you can ask for it. I did not ask for it. When it came out, the waitress asked the guy bringing it to us. Did you make this spicy and he said I don't know I know and of course it was spicy. Now I have diverticulosis which you can't eat spicy foods or the next day you're gonna pay for it and I did with just a few bites. Couldn't eat most of it just packed it up for someone else to eat. If you stated on the menu, then you should follow with the menu says and don't make it spicy. Just doesn't seem this is the same P.F. Chang's that it was about a year ago. I used to always like the fact that they would come when you had leftovers and package it up for you and give it to you. None of that during this meal and the table was small. We order a lot of food well over $100 worth and trying to put all of these things in small little boxes on a packed table was very inconvenient for the three of us. Second I ordered a peanutbutter and chocolate desert and orange chicken and egg drop soup. Soup was hot and delicious. Orange Chicken and noodles were bland. I called the store the manager apologized said yes they person packing it made a mistake and they were out of bottles of coke. Can't someone pickup the phone and call I would have asked for a different bottled drink. But since I ordered thru Uber I need to contact them. The service was terrible. The waiter left our fat menus on our table the entire meal, along with several extra dishes- he never picked them up and we shoved them to the side. He sold us a fancy drink based on the bottomless refills. But he never came back to give us more, only when we were leaving! we felt shorted on that. Then, he brough dessert to us while we were halfway thought dinner. Then he brought the check while we were STILL eating dinner. We ran out of water and finally the manager came to bring us some (it was very hot and we were also eating hot food). It was literally as though no one every showed them how to treat a table. The food tasted like PF Changs. The photo showed some vegetables in on dish but there were none in it when it came. I have never written a negative review before, but this must be said. They have a nice lunch and dinner menu with multiple options to choose from. We did a take out of kung pao chicken, low mien with a spring roll and it was tasty and filling. They also have a happy hour menu with different options but those aren't too many compared to the regular menu. I ordered into my hotel room from here. Usually a big fan of P.F. Chang's occasionally. Got my food and honestly I was so disappointed. The veggie spring rolls were probably the weirdest I'd ever tasted - too thick, not crispy enough, sprinkled with some weird seasoning on top that was terrible tasting and the filling itself was tasteless. I'm a big big spring roll fan and these were awful ugh. I gave up after half a spring roll. The kung pao chicken was okay, but ridiculously greasy - enough for me to not be able to finish it. The noodles were okay, some super clumped together again couldn't finish. I've not had the same experience at other PF Chang's tbh, I think they need better management. My husband and I have dined at this location a few times now and it's alway wonderful. We celebrated my birthday here and our server Teetia was fantastic. She took wonderful care of us: attentive, friendly, happy, interested.It was really nice. In addition to the treatment we received from her, we observed her taking care of her other tables and it just seems like she was born for this role. Very very good at her job! Hang on to her as long as you can P.F. Chang's! The food as always was excellent. P.F. Chang's is one of my favorite restaurants and they always deliver. We each had a cocktail; I had the sparkling Paloma and it was so refreshing. We shared the pork potstickers. I got the Mongolian beef and my husband got the orange chicken. For dessert we had the chocolate soufflé which was made extra festive with a flaming sparkler on a champagne bottle. So fun! Needless to say, we were full and satisfied! Love the ambience. I order delivery from them often, at least once a month for the last 3 years. I always order extra dipping sauce for the shrimp and the egg rolls. I pay for it but never get it. The pad Thai is dry as a bone, I have to wash it down with a liquid. It needs peanut sauce that they always seem to forget to put on the dish. When I call the restaurant for help, they always tell me that I have to get with DoorDash. It's a dead end street and I think I ordered my last meal for me and my neighbors at P.F. Not sure what happened in those previous reviews, but everything was hot & flavorful for us! I have not been to PF Changz in years, but today I was reminded of all the tasty food they offer. We parked across the bridge in a 3hr spot which was perfect. The wait time was about 30 minutes, so we decided to sit at the bar. The bartenders were flipping the drink tickets around very quickly, which is always a good sign. Let's get into the food. We ordered the crab wontons for an appetizer. DELICIOUS! The honey chili sauce paired perfectly with those crispy crab puffs. For entrees, we chose the pepper steak & sesame chicken with a side of fried rice. Everything tasted just as I remember!
