P.F. Chang's is a nationwide chain that I've been to a handful of times over the years. Mostly in Houston. The same company owns Pei Wei. Think of P.F. Chang's as a more expensive, upscale version of Pei Wei. When I found out that this location in South Scottsdale started it all, I knew I had to check it out. I stopped by on a Wednesday for dinner. I found free street parking a couple of minutes away by foot. Ambiance (4.5/5): The original P.F. Chang's is a beautiful restaurant. There are two large horse sculptures outside of the restaurant. Once you go inside, you'll see a trendy establishment with Asian decor. For some reason, it gives me Vegas vibes. We sat at a booth. And the area surrounding the restaurant is just as beautiful. It's on the water. It's a nice area to take a stroll. And there are many others restaurants, bars, and shops in the area. Service (3.5/5): Friendly service, though a bit slow. With that being said, I appreciated that when we tried to order two cups of wonton soup, our waiter recommended that it would be a better deal to order a bowl. It's cheaper that way and you get more soup. That was a nice touch. At the same time, he poured our wine without giving me a taste yet. And with it being a white wine, he also didn't chill it at the table. These are standard practices when it comes to wine services that sometimes get lost at chain restaurants. It's all about the proper training. Drinks (4.5/5): P.F. Chang's has a nice list of cocktails and the usual assortment of beverages you see when there's a full bar. With that being said, we focused on wine. The reason? On Wednesdays, all bottles of wine are half off. That's a deal I couldn't pass up. We went with a bottle of Pinot Grigio from Venice. Food (4/5): A bit of a hit and a miss. I'm a big fan of wonton soup. P.F. Chang's iteration was elevated in the sense that included ingredients you typically don't see in this dish including shrimp, chicken, and mushrooms. Unfortunately, it missed the mark. The broth was flavorless. The chicken was bland. There weren't a a lot of dumplings in the soup. It was disappointing. A total 180 occurred when I received my beef teriyaki. Prepared in a wok, the protein came with pineapple, veggies, and was served with my choice of white rice or brown rice. I went with brown rice. The teriyaki was absolutely delicious. The sweet teriyaki was so good that I couldn't help to eat it all. While the prices are a bit steep for a chain, P.F. Chang's is solid (with a few flaws). read more

We met several friends at P.F. Chang's for an early dinner. For beverages, we ordered wine, beer, and pomegranate lemonade. We decided on a few appetizers first. We had an order of lettuce, wrapped chicken, pork potstickers, and one dragon roll sushi. For the main course, we had another order of dragon roll, sushi, crispy, honey chicken, firecracker shrimp, 2 pepper beefs, and Buddha's Feast. Service was very quick and all dishes came out at once. All dishes were quite good and satisfying. It was a nice meal. Arriving early was a good idea for conversing. Several free covered parking and valet options. Here for happy hour. Made a meal out of their appetizers. My favorite were Chang's lettuce wraps: chicken in a savory sauce, served with crispy rice sticks and fresh lettuce cups. I ordered through Uber Eats. This was not the issue driver was quick actually early. This was 100% the store. First off I ordered a meal that showed a 20oz bottled drink. Thats what I ordered but instead I got a fountain drink. I dont drink fountain drinks from delivery services ive seen to many tictoks. Second I ordered a peanutbutter and chocolate desert and orange chicken and egg drop soup. Soup was hot and delicious. Orange Chicken and noodles were bland. Dessert was melted into soup also since they put this cold creamy dessert in the sane bag as the soup and orange chicken. I called the store the manager apologized said yes they person packing it made a mistake and they were out of bottles of coke. Can't someone pickup the phone and call I would have asked for a different bottled drink. But since I ordered thru Uber I need to contact them. The service was great! Everyone was kind and professional to me. I wouldn't recommend getting the Hot & Sour Soup, but the Orange Chicken, Spicy Chicken and Crab Wontons were excellent. I order delivery from them often, at least once a month for the last 3 years. I always order extra dipping sauce for the shrimp and the egg rolls. I pay for it but never get it. The pad Thai is dry as a bone, I have to wash it down with a liquid. It needs peanut sauce that they always seem to forget to put on the dish. We placed our order online twice while staying in Scottsdale. Unfortunately both times were a miss . First time: We waited for curbside pickup for 20 minutes after the time we asked for. I called to check on what was going on and the person answering the phone was very rude. The food was "meh", the string beans were over cooked to the point of being uneatable. Not the best use of over $100 Second time was worse: Scheduled pickup for 4:15, called at 4:10 that we were there, called again at 4:30 and was hung up on. Called back and asked for the manager and explained that it was now over 30 minutes after the pick up time. He said it would be right down. Unsurprisingly, the food was cold when we got it. We got here and we were sat by a host who did not acknowledge us verbally. We were confused as to why he left. We looked at him awkwardly for direction and he signaled for us to follow him. We were "sat" outside. He told us to sit anywhere so we chose one of the only tables that were cleared out. Every other table still had dirty plates and used cutlery and glasses. Our server came to us and i ordered our drinks. I showed her my ID and she checked it and gave it back. She whispered: what can i get you to drink. i ordered again and she left. We waited 15 minutes for our drinks. As a restaurant worker (me and the bf are like cooks), we try to give every place the benefit of the doubt. However, it was a Tuesday night and it was dead. In fact, we thought they were closed because it was seemingly empty. We were only one of four tables outside. Once our drinks came we were ready to order. I ordered 4 things for two people. The wait for the food was half an hour. On a slow night. I'm half an our we got only two of the things we ordered. We ordered everything at once anticipating a long wait. The soup and the 6pc dumplings. Both were drenched in oil. The soup flavorless, and the dumplings overpriced. We paid $18 for 6 pieces of mediocre dumplings. Twenty minutes later the other items arrived. The dynamite shrimp were nothing like they looked in the menu. The only thing worthwhile was the Sweet & Sour Shrimp. We grabbed a medium plate but the portion size was ok. At the time two servers started to clear out the tables that needed to be bussed. They were too distracted talking with each other to complete it efficiently. They managed to clear off the tables and put all dirty dishes, cutlery and glasses onto a single table before leaving. We asked for the check a paid. The only highlight of the night was that we got double fortune cookies. We tipped our server generously despite the poor service and dismal experience and vibe. Still as an industry worker, I can't help but feel bad for the people working here so I must rate them higher than 1. I would not recommend at all though. read more

The veggie spring rolls were probably the weirdest I'd ever tasted - too thick, not crispy enough, sprinkled with some weird seasoning on top that was terrible tasting and the filling itself was tasteless. I'm a big big spring roll fan and these were awful ugh. I gave up after half a spring roll. The kung pao chicken was okay, but ridiculously greasy - enough for me to not be able to finish it. The noodles were okay, some super clumped together again couldn't finish. I've not had the same experience at other PF Chang's tbh, I think they need better management. The beef with the Mongolian beef tasted like beef jerky and the chicken and broccoli tasted water downed. My husband and I have dined at this location a few times now and it's alway wonderful. We celebrated my birthday here and our server Teetia was fantastic. She took wonderful care of us: attentive, friendly, happy, interested.It was really nice. We each had a cocktail; I had the sparkling Paloma and it was so refreshing. We shared the pork potstickers. I got the Mongolian beef and my husband got the orange chicken. I love PF Changs! We came in on a Friday night and there wasn't a long wait. We sat on the patio. They have plenty of misters so it was comfortable. The staff was so nice and loved out dog! They brought her out water and all wanted to pet her. We did the $20 deals where you and your partner split an app, same soups and then 2 entrees! Not sure what happened in those previous reviews, but everything was hot & flavorful for us! I have not been to PF Changz in years, but today I was reminded of all the tasty food they offer. We parked across the bridge in a 3hr spot which was perfect. The wait time was about 30 minutes, so we decided to sit at the bar. The bartenders were flipping the drink tickets around very quickly, which is always a good sign. Let's get into the food. We ordered the crab wontons for an appetizer. DELICIOUS! The honey chili sauce paired perfectly with those crispy crab puffs. For entrees, we chose the pepper steak & sesame chicken with a side of fried rice. Everything tasted just as I remember! The brown pepper sauce was probably my favorite. The entrees are family style, which is perfect for sharing and warming up leftovers. We will definitely be back for happy hour! read more
