Bottomless drinks were replenished quickly. Food was pretty decent overall. Eric brought out a complimentary desert for my mom. CONS- There's no valet service on the weekend, parking is limited. I asked if I can bring a small cake and was told they can't hold it in the kitchen only behind the host stand. You only get one flavor of the bottomless margaritas you can't switch flavors. The bathroom stalls have frosted doors with only about 85% privacy, check out my pic for reference. We loved everything but the pomegranate guacamole needed some salt. The Açaí was liquidity. I ordered Ribeye tacos. When I received my order I couldn't believe they would sell that as an entree and not an appetizer ! The corn tortilla was so small and on top was a layer of ribeye meat. Topped with pickled onion. That's all ! It came with two small tacos. Small enough to fit in a woman's palm. Crazy. There was no option for rice or beans. The sauce itself was not very good and overall I left hungry. I do not recommend this as your entree and is not really even good for sharing as an appetizer. Came here for restaurant week. Parking was easy. We got the Al pastor pad Thai without meat- it seemed a bit saucy and the taste didn't seem too different or unique from a regular pad Thai (although having the meat could've been the reason). The sea bass was so silky and the sauce was good- would've been great with some rice. We also added on the sashimi, and they were thick cuts. The bread pudding had too much coconut for me, but overall not too sweet and the pudding had a firm texture. I ordered the matcha cocktail, which was light and not too sweet (it was on the smaller side though). Everything came out relatively quick, and they did pack up the leftovers for us. 2nd time here for brunch and took my fiancé (his first time) and we had a great experience but come hungry! Our waitress was fantastic. She offered us "SAMPLES" of every starter--when you hear the word "sample" you think smaller portions. We said--sure let's do it. Well... It was a plate of everything and it sent us into another universe. We both don't like to waste food so we did our best to not leave too much over and we had to tap out missing a few plates of starters and desserts. We did at least take bites of our entrees but had so much regret trying to keep up with the starters. Best starter for the fiancé was the sumo rangoons and for me it was the pancake street tacos. The bacon and eggs were definitely an honorable mention. We had a dinner reservation at Sumomaya and were seated at the first booth on the right, in the main restaurant space. Great corner view of the entire restaurant, which I took a lovely tour of while looking for the bathroom. Its not obvious that it's back towards the entrance. Despite this being a QR Code menu restaurant (I am not a slave to my phone, I detest this), we had fantastic service and the food was good. Happiest Ending roll was meh, guacamole and round chips were ok, but the surprise hit was the okonomiyaki style peppers. The Mexican street corn off the cob was also quite good. The service was top notch. Thoughtful, observant, and food was brought out quickly. There was a live DJ Saturday night curating vibes. I just don't understand the hype around this place. I've been here multiple times for brunch and dinner and it's just not my thing. I've tried almost everything on their brunch menu and I have never been able to find something I like. Yes, I eat it but never finish the dish because the combinations are just weird in my opinion. And although this was tasty, it was a fairly small portion of meat. My other friend had the enchiladas suizas and we shared our food. This was pretty good. From the small plates I liked BOURBON TOFFEE PLANTAINS, POMEGRANATE GUACAMOLE (not yelling lol, just copied & pasted), gauc was very good, Sumo Rangoons & mini churros. I didn't notice at the time but the bottomless plates also included "chef's assorted sushi rolls". I would have tried if I saw that. Note that all people at the table have to do the bottomless brunch and they do not allow for any food to be taken as leftovers. Glad I went to celebrate with my friend and her family, however due to costs with cocktails and brunch, it's definitely something I wouldn't do just anytime for breakfast. My partner and I recently tried SumoMaya for the first time and decided to go all in with their brunch deal: "unlimited shared plates and desserts plus one entrée per guest for $45." I've been here three times and really tried to give this place a fair chance--even though I don't live in Arizona. Each time I visited, I hoped for a better experience, but after three tries, I don't think I'll be coming back or recommending it, unfortunately. The first time was a few years ago when I came with a large party. I told them I wanted to pay for everything, so I asked what the total was after we ordered. They told me it was around $300, which I was fine with--but when I went to pay, it was literally double that. I still don't understand how the number could be so far off. I probably wouldn't have told everyone I was going to pay if I had known it would be double what the waiter told me. We also ordered the yakisoba for the table, and it tasted extremely burnt--no one could eat it. The second time I came, they never brought out one of our appetizers. It was also impossible to get ahold of anyone, and everyone's food came out at very different times. The third time, the staff was just rude. When we arrived, the restaurant was completely empty, but we were told I had booked a high-top (which I didn't realize). We were then moved to the bar since it was more comfortable, but they insisted the restaurant was completely booked and were very rude about it. After being there for an hour and leaving, half the tables were still open, so we easily could have had a dining table. That same night, I was ordering with my mom, and she clearly told them she doesn't like anything spicy. The waiter suggested mushroom tacos that sounded delicious, so we ordered them--but they came with jalapeños. The Pad Thai was delicious but I would say the sushi wasn't great. While the aesthetics are gorgeous and they have great cocktails (and I do think most of the food itself is delicious), it's just not worth it when we've had a frustrating experience with the staff every single time. They were able to accommodate our 15+ person group, but we did have to hit a minimum spend. The drinks were hit or miss, so I'd stick to the classics. We had a set menu, so I didn't get to order the food I probably would have otherwise, but I really enjoyed the Rainbow Ceviche. Most of the other dishes I tried were good, but nothing out of the ordinary. There was 2 of us and we got sat at a high top that was in the corner of the restaurant. It was a tight area and I didn't like that we were just stuck facing the corner of the glass. We were looking forward to trying this restaurant since it was new for us. It took awhile to get seated with reservations. It was very smoky as if the kitchen was venting to the front area. We went back to the table and it was along a glass wall, high top with a clear plastic stools. Very tacky and not fitting for my outfit as I had a skirt on. I requested to change tables and hostess said it was unsure if I could and if so it would take awhile to get seated. I said ok because I was not going to sit at that table. The set up was like a bar style except the bar stools were leather! Once seated at another spot the service was very minimal. Waiter told us what he could not do and even forgot part of my husbands order. The food was ok but not worth it for the price. They also added a surcharge for unknown reasons. Plus the restrooms were full of smoke from the kitchen. By the time we left my hair smelled as if I was barbecuing outside. Ugh! Too bad this place was such a disappointment. Unfortunately my French toast came out raw so I had to send it back and they gave me a new one but most of the girls were done with their meal by the time I got mine. I was not comped or offered to be comped in any way. The ambience at the restaurant is fantastic with a really awesome modern look and a giant beautiful tree in the middle of the restaurant. I had a single mimosa for $12 but the girls all ordered unlimited mimosas for $35 a person. The service was OK however, the waitress skipped me and another girl for drinks a couple of times so everyone had their drinks at the table before we even ordered ours. Parking here was extremely limited so try to drive together. Overall, the ambiance was cool and the brunch special was a really unique and cool way to do it but I think the overall experience was just okay. Just an amazing, culinary experience. I highly recommend this spot for brunch. The inside is beautiful. You get unlimited tapas (brought out two dishes at a time as they are ready) and one entree.
