OH MY GAAAHH! This place was even better than I expected. To be honest I didn't know what to expect. The menu can be a little intimidating but the servers walk you through it and break it all down. Our server Alyssa was soooo amazing, very sweet and super informative. The food was insanely delicious and all of the staff was all so amazing. I HIGHLY recommend coming here and do not leave without trying the fried milk dessert even if you don't want dessert you NEEED to try it. Also the vibe is super chill yet fancy. Love this place PS this place has the BEST edamame I've ever had in my life

Came here Saturday for lunch. The restaurant is beautiful, dark but not pitch black. On the quieter side so it is easy to have a conversation. Reservations HIGHLY recommended. We overheard the hostess say there weren't any tables available. Our service was amazing, super knowledgeable and attentive. I got the Grand Prix preset lunch special with the Hama chili and crispy rice. The Hama chili was probably the best thing I've ever had in my life. I ordered a crunchy spicy tuna roll as well which was delicious.

I've been eyeing Uchi for awhile and finally checked them out with a friend during restaurant week. They had a great tasting menu to try all of the best and some limited menu items. The interior is very unique and beautiful. It sort of reminded me of being inside a train. I don't think there was anything I tried that I didn't enjoy but the stand outs for me were the Uchi wedge and nigiri special. The flavors were unique and nothing like I've had before. Our sever was great too. She was very friendly, knowledge and attentive. Overall it was a great dining experience and I'll definitely be back again.

Walking in, the restaurant is beautiful and the ambiance is perfect for a nice date, special occasion, or an elevated girls night. The service was good but it definitely felt as our server was trying to upsell us by only recommending the most expensive things on the menu. We ordered a few things but after we looked at general reviews, we realized she hadn't told us the actual most popular dishes. Regardless, the food was subpar and not what I was expecting for the price point. Granted, some fish stood out (like the otoro gunkan) but only a few dishes out of the whole were good. The desserts are amazing and delicious!

Great food! I was hoping to do the omakase but when I asked my server about it I didn't get much guidance, it was more like "it depends" and it would've been more helpful to give suggestions. We ended up just ordering à la carte . Everything was great but our server i couldn't tell if he was having a bad day. We got an odd vibe. Overall though it's a beautiful ambiance inside and worth visiting if you haven't yet.

I really enjoyed our dinner at Uchi! I avoided going before because the $$$$ price designation on Yelp scared me - but in my opinion everything was pretty reasonable for the quality! We went here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. We started with the edamame and brussel sprouts - both super tasty. Our server was very kind and gave us great recommendations for our main course. I can't remember what all we got but all was delicious and fresh! I also really enjoyed that they brought an additional roll/nigiri for the birthday boy instead of a dessert (he is more of a savory guy anyway). The vibe of the restaurant itself if cool - amazing architecture and low lighting. I will definitely be back!

Yum yum yummy!! I have been to uchi a couple of times for dinner and always have an incredible meal. With quality fish and unique flavor combinations, uchi is consistently a hit. The ambiance of the restaurant is upscale with warm lighting and a central bar. Service is always exceptional and I love that they go through each dish as they bring it out to you. Today I went for the weekend lunch special which is an incredible deal! $25 for the prix fix which includes an app, entree, and sorbet; $5 cocktails. Will definitely come back for lunch again!

This place is an EXPERIENCE to dine at! I don't know a lot about sushi and Japanese food but the service helps with any questions and even recommendations! We went there with family and did the option where you can set a budget and they bring what they think fits your preferences, definitely recommend if you are unsure of what you want to get but want to make sure you hit a couple things. I won't share everything we got in the review because I honestly don't know what everything was called but I will share a few photos of just some of the stuff we got! All the fish is phenomenal, we got a lot of sashimi and nigiri and all were amazing. Mushroom rice was great and broke up the food a little, and the tapioca dessert is a must-have! That was the best dessert! The service was incredible, we had a really nice waiter who we got to know. He was super attentive and he even brought us an extra appetizer when he noticed we didn't get as many pieces of sushi as we should have on one plate. Thank you!!

Hidden gem for sure, tucked away in old town Scottsdale. Very easy to miss the entrance but feels like a hidden alcove once you make your way in. Execution is on point. Get the chirashi bowl. It's a very accurate representation and was exactly what we were looking for. Glad we went with the prix fixe menu to try a good spread and while everything was excellent from the Gem Salad, Crispy Rice, and Walu Walu (all of which you must try). The seasonal sorbet really left an impression on us. Not many places execute creativity well and here is Uchi firing on all cylinders and hitting.

We took our out-of-town guest to Uchi and it was all of our first time visiting. The menu can feel a little intimidating at first, but our waitress made it easy by recommending the tasting menu. She asked about our budget per person, our preferences, and was very accommodating of our guest's gluten allergy. Every dish that came out was incredible from the nigiri to the sushi and the drinks were just as impressive. The atmosphere was perfect too: not too loud, so we could actually enjoy conversation. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience feel seamless. We'll definitely be back.

One of my all time favorite restaurants! Service here is impeccable and they truly can feed me anything and I'd be happy. Their lunch prices are a great deal and omakase is worth every penny! Definitely sit at the sushi bar if it's available for an interactive experience with the chef

I was dining solo and had no trouble finding a seat since there's plenty of seating throughout the restaurant. That said, I was surprised by how quickly the place started filling up after opening, which is always a good sign. One of the first things I noticed was the large sushi bar and being able to watch the sushi chefs at work. There were five of them, which I took as a sure sign this place gets busy. I ordered the spider roll, salmon avocado roll, and steamed edamame. Everything was fresh, well-prepared, and exactly what I was hoping for. One unique thing about Kodo is their rice blend. They use a combination of black and white rice, which gives the sushi a distinctive purple color. It's not something you see every day, and it definitely makes their sushi stand out. I also have a food allergy, and the staff handled it carefully and without any issues. They offer fountain drinks, which I always prefer. And I liked their plastic to-go container. It kept my leftovers from getting soggy by next day. Easy five stars.

The sushi itself was decent, nothing crazy, but definitely better than grocery store quality. The tuna and salmon pieces were a little fishy, maybe not the freshest, but it was also quite late (~10pm) so I wasn't expecting too much. Beautifully presented, and the cuts were quite large which was nice! The food came out pretty fast, and the service was pleasant. The restaurant vibes are pretty dark, and moody. The special was an assortment of various rolls assembled beautifully making each piece stand out. The first bite was divine and as we worked around the ring of rolls they got better and better. The sauces brought perfect harmony and complemented the fish. The sushi was incredibly fresh not having the fishy order lingering. The rolls melted in your mouth like butter leaving you satisfied. It was so good we placed a second order. Bela stopped by frequently checking on us and also telling us about the restaurant and the area and provided a friendly atmosphere that you do not often get in northern Midwest.
