Yum yum yummy!! I have been to uchi a couple of times for dinner and always have an incredible meal. With quality fish and unique flavor combinations, uchi is consistently a hit. The ambiance of the restaurant is upscale with warm lighting and a central bar. Service is always exceptional and I love that they go through each dish as they bring it out to you. Today I went for the weekend lunch special which is an incredible deal! $25 for the prix fix which includes an app, entree, and sorbet; $5 cocktails. Will definitely come back for lunch again!

This place is an EXPERIENCE to dine at! I don't know a lot about sushi and Japanese food but the service helps with any questions and even recommendations! We went there with family and did the option where you can set a budget and they bring what they think fits your preferences, definitely recommend if you are unsure of what you want to get but want to make sure you hit a couple things. I won't share everything we got in the review because I honestly don't know what everything was called but I will share a few photos of just some of the stuff we got! All the fish is phenomenal, we got a lot of sashimi and nigiri and all were amazing. Mushroom rice was great and broke up the food a little, and the tapioca dessert is a must-have! That was the best dessert! The service was incredible, we had a really nice waiter who we got to know. He was super attentive and he even brought us an extra appetizer when he noticed we didn't get as many pieces of sushi as we should have on one plate. Thank you!!

Hidden gem for sure, tucked away in old town Scottsdale. Very easy to miss the entrance but feels like a hidden alcove once you make your way in. Execution is on point. Get the chirashi bowl. It's a very accurate representation and was exactly what we were looking for. Glad we went with the prix fixe menu to try a good spread and while everything was excellent from the Gem Salad, Crispy Rice, and Walu Walu (all of which you must try). The seasonal sorbet really left an impression on us. Not many places execute creativity well and here is Uchi firing on all cylinders and hitting.

We've been to other Uchi locations in other states and it's always unbelievable. Our server took time to explain the menu in great detail and made plenty of recommendations throughout the meal. She came by regularly to make sure everything was okay plus water and drinks were never empty. The Ootoro just melted away and the wagyu nigiri had very generous portions of Smokey Wagyu steak. Every roll and nigiri piece was amazing

We took our out-of-town guest to Uchi and it was all of our first time visiting. The menu can feel a little intimidating at first, but our waitress made it easy by recommending the tasting menu. She asked about our budget per person, our preferences, and was very accommodating of our guest's gluten allergy. Every dish that came out was incredible from the nigiri to the sushi and the drinks were just as impressive. The atmosphere was perfect too: not too loud, so we could actually enjoy conversation. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience feel seamless. We'll definitely be back.

Uchi looks great on paper , beautiful decor, nice staff and interesting menu. But I wasn't super impressed with flavors. My expectations were high and Uchi fell a little short. Presentation of the dishes was great. My biggest complaint is the squash was sooo salty in the crispy rice dish. The rest of the dish was trying to compensate with its lack of flavor but the salt overpowered everything. The salmon sake hand roll was ok. Coming from Seattle, I have had way better sushi. The salmon had a strange texture/taste to me. Sakara tempura was nice. The small pieces of pearl onion was my favorite part, wish there was more of them. Spicy ponzu was not spicy at all. Fish pieces had nice texture but flavorless.

We went for lunch and the lunch menu is definitely worth. I love the vibe of this place. the subarashi drink is my favorite here. The walu walu is cooked perfectly, not dry at all. of course the fish is always fresh here. The service is very attentive and quick.

I'm not sure if these items were only for restaurant week which is sad because everything was absolutely delicious. Our server Marina was amazing and took such great care of us, the whole staff actually! I loved the ambiance of the structure of the place, how big our table was, the lighting, vibes. Restaurant week was nicely priced and I would definitely want to try more options off the menu. 10/10 experience

I love uchi and have been several times at this point. We typically sit at the bar, and Kyle the bartender makes very food drinks. We typically order nigiri, my boyfriend likes the Uni varieties when available, I think from Santa Barbara and Japan. I love the toro with caviar. As well, I like the salmon belly, Wagyu, and sea bream as well. We love the crispy rice pot and to add the gyu steak. This is a staple for us and love to add eggs in the morning for breakfast with the left overs. They do have a great happy hour that offers a coursed meal, I think $120 for two people. We typically never make it at this time. As well, we like the Brussels sprouts, ham and eggs, fresh roll style sushi roll. I think the only thing I haven't cared for is the carpaccio on the menu. For dessert, we always get fried ice cream for either at the restaurant or the pint style to go (which we often keep in our freezer at home). Overall, we love this place. The service and food are always spot on.

I've never been to an omakase experience before, and I'm so glad this was my first! My sister and I did the happy hour omakase which I believe was a great deal. It's $120 for 2 and you get 8 rounds of different things. I also let them know I'm pescatarian and they were very accommodating and replaced a pork dish with a fish one for me. We were worried the omakase wouldn't be filling, so we ordered a few extra things, but I think the omakase is honestly more than enough. The only extra thing worth ordering is the mushroom rice. Soooo good! I'm not sure what was the replacement for the pork dish, but at the end they gave us a white fish that was amazing with the mushroom rice! Overall, there wasn't a single thing I didn't enjoy and every server was so kind! I absolutely will come back.

We came during happy hour and stayed through the golden hour on a warm Monday evening -- what a lovely experience it was! The venue is cozy and tastefully designed. We especially love dining outside when the weather is nice though. When we arrived, we were seated on the patio immediately, but if you want to be inside/are visiting during rush hour, make sure you've reserved a table ahead of time, otherwise you may be in for a wait. The food is high quality and heavily inspired by Japanese cuisine, so instead of relying on salt for seasoning, the dishes rely more on umami created by the natural flavors of its ingredients. For those who find that bland, you may enjoy something with more sauce. Bluefin Otoro nigiri was very pricey, but very fresh. And our Kinoko nabe really stole the show with its balanced textures and complex flavor profile: aromatic, rich, and yet light at the same time. The servers are experienced with the house menu, so even if you are familiar with Japanese/Asian cuisines or have been to Uchi before, I recommend listening to your server as they introduce the options (menu items are always changing depending on the market availability). If you're not sure about portions or have any concerns like allergies, let your server know. The young man who took care of our table was cordial and knowledgeable, and we valued his perspective. He was spot on, as we loved everything we ordered! Ps. I will say, if you order the mochi donuts, they seem to be donuts that just use rice flour, which makes them a bit fluffier on the inside. But they don't have that QQ chewy texture like the mochi donuts sold by Mochinuts and other bakeries. However, paired with their caramel gelato and raspberry compote, the mini donuts were still a hit with us. Take that with a grain of salt!

When we walked in it had a very fishy smell, so it kind of made us second guess our choice. But we went for it anyhow. The greeter/server was very pleasant and sat us. It was very clean inside with ample space between seat. We browsed through the menu and started with our usual edamame and pot stickers. The edamame was salted well throughout where a lot of places just put the salt on top only. We ordered a couple varieties of sake which were both good. Out of all of the things we ordered the karange skewer was just a little more oily than were use to, but still good. The spicy salmon roll had really great flavor and the lollipop roll was probably one of the better versions that we have had. The musubi was giant to say the least, it was good, but offered a bit too much rice. Overall the food and service was great and we were very happy that we ended up here!

We were nearby for a show, and decided to stop in on a Wednesday evening for a late dinner with some friends. They have a good happy hour menu, and my friends ordered off there, but I was craving sushi so I got the nigiri omakase. It came with miso soup, which I enjoyed, definitely hard to go wrong there. The sushi itself was decent, nothing crazy, but definitely better than grocery store quality. The tuna and salmon pieces were a little fishy, maybe not the freshest, but it was also quite late (~10pm) so I wasn't expecting too much. Beautifully presented, and the cuts were quite large which was nice! The food came out pretty fast, and the service was pleasant. The restaurant vibes are pretty dark, and moody. The bathroom was kind of scary personally, super dark and a little messy, so I decided to wait till I got home. Overall, a solid experience, and definitely a good choice if I am in the area.

She was very friendly and went down the menu telling us all about the specials and her recommendations. We needed no recommendations because we were there for one thing the Bei special. The special was an assortment of various rolls assembled beautifully making each piece stand out. The first bite was divine and as we worked around the ring of rolls they got better and better. The sauces brought perfect harmony and complemented the fish. The sushi was incredibly fresh not having the fishy order lingering. The rolls melted in your mouth like butter leaving you satisfied. It was so good we placed a second order. Bela stopped by frequently checking on us and also telling us about the restaurant and the area and provided a friendly atmosphere that you do not often get in northern Midwest. The Spider Roll was very good except for the sauce on top that did not suite our palate but after removing the sauce it was fantastic. The Hot Mama Roll was also amazing. The flavors went well with the Yuki Mango Nigori Sake. We also tried some of their beers and spent a while catching up. Belas service was second to none and made this reunion fabulous. The sushi at Bei was better than 95% of our sushi restaurants in my state and the price was very good. They also have a cute cat robot that delivers food! Thank you Bela we hope to come back again on our next trip to Arizona to try more food.

However, if you are a person who likes plain food, with no depth of Thai flavors, this is your place. My friend and I just played with our food after the second bite. Nope! I didn't even bother to put it in the refrigerator and immediately place it in the trash. Very disappointed. As for the service, it was very questionable because no one even SAW that we went eating. Finally, after 15 minutes or so, I say our food was okay. I lied!! And asked for the check, like we wanted to escape an establishment that was based on a sham. The decor was nice and the location was quiet for an afternoon weekend. The Mongolian beef was more like pot roast and fatty. It certainly was not what I would consider spicy. Ambiance is VERY casual. There are regulars and they seem to be like family, so that is cool, once you have been accepted in the circle of trust. Maybe I am spoiled, because we tend to get very good Chinese in Las Vegas, due to the "Whales" coming in to gamble. Maybe this considered fabulous for Scottsdale, but certainly not what I was raised to expect. Now, it has been few weeks since my nephew and I tried this place. I wanted to let it breathe before posting "hot". To be fair. We were offered some dumplings to apologize for the wait. We declined, because I was afraid of what they may taste like. I asked for the check and the lady resisted saying that we hardly touched the food and she did not want to charge. This also was nice, but my ENTIRE working life has been in the hospitality/customer service/food service industry. They have bills to pay. They prepared the meal. They provided the service. They deserved to be paid. She apologized once again and said that they were using a new cook. I thought that I might be unusually over-critical however, my nephew, who resembles a trash compactor went away saying that there would be way he would ever get food from there. I wish this place well. Maybe there needs to be a better front of house/back of house dynamic. I can think of many things that would help.
