Chicken & Beef Combo
Kathleen W.

The quality of the food was good, but nothing special other than tasting slightly cleaner/less oily than some other Hawaiian bbq establishments. I would say they give you an average amount for portions and the price. The inside appeared clean when I went, it's in a cute corner area of the plaza and the self- serve sauce station was nice to have. Service was okay, not the friendliest bunch but they get the job done. A really reliable 3 star experience.

Kalbi, bbq chicken, and beef meal

We ordered here approximately 3 times during our short stay at a nearby resort. The beef and bbq chicken were delicious and the quantity was plentiful. The spicy chicken definitely missed the mark so I would not get that again. We ordered via delivery service all three times so I cannot comment on how the establishment is but I would definitely order here again if I'm ever in the area.

Teriyaki Chicken

Happy New Year! For the last day of 2022 we decided to get some Hawaiian food. The lovely Carla was there to greet us with an Aloha and we ordered a few plates. I got the Hawaiian BBQ chicken and teriyaki chicken, Aloha plate style. The protein comes with white rice and a light salad (lots of onions though). The fire chicken we got took longer but overall we didn't wait too long for our food. Several people came in and picked up orders while we were waiting. Everything tasted great and I love the big portions at the right price. They also have a sauce station by the drinks where you can get extra teriyaki and katsu sauce to take home. Leftovers the next day were good too, so that's a plus. Friendly staff makes a big difference and we were sent off with a Mahalo. Check this spot out!

Why is Ono temporarily closed until December?

Open now!

Is this location closed? We tried calling our order but no answer and then drove by and all was dark inside...

Apparently so. Sign on door says "this location is temporarily closed. We appreciate your business." No mention of re-opening, but the tables and chairs are still inside, and there is still cans of soda in their countertop cooler.

Do they accept Android Pay?

No

This past Sunday, Mother's Day 2026, I stopped in around 3:45 to pick up dinner with chicken teriyaki, beef bugolgi, tempura shrimp, white rice, and green salad. It was the only meal of the day that we each ate from the same establishment. After I ordered, I heard the guy cooking complain to the cashier girls up front that it would be awhile, but they didn't repeat the concerns to me, so I didn't pay it any mind. Overnight, Sunday night/ Monday morning, my wife and I both became violently ill. I think maybe that chicken that was gonna take too long to cook, wasn't cooked all the way. It doesn't matter how many times I've eaten here in the past without incident. That was an absolutely terrible experience, and I won't risk it happening again, just because the cook wants to get out of work early. I will never eat here again.

Wife order the coconut shrimp plate along with their mac salad and I had the bulkogi plate with mac salad. I also ordered a side of fried won ton. I think overall the quality of the food isn't what it used to be although I will say was good today. My bulgogi had some tough, grisly pieces of beef, which is to be expected due to the cut but I've also had this dish elsewhere and found it to be really tender and juicy...not so much today. The fried won ton or ok but again, I remember them being filled with more filling and thought these were a tad over fried. The coconut shrimp was good and it came with some teriyaki chicken as well. Overall a good meal and we will come again!

I love their proximity to JL Patisserie because I can grab a meal and dessert in one stop! I ended up getting coconut shrimp, because theirs is the best. To a balance out the fried, I ordered a mahi mahi seafood salad with mango dressing. This was the best salad I've had in a long time and just hit the spot. Place is cute and tucked away. Good if you want to eat in, but I prefer takeout. I noticed they added a Baja fish taco which sounds amazing, maybe next time.

I'm mourning the loss of what used to be not only AZ's best fish tacos and freshest poke, but also their S tier fries. Reading some of the reviews I thought it was just a change in name only. Unfortunately the recipes and food quality has changed as well. When I first moved here from Hawaii, I was resigned to the fact the most restaurants in AZ just didn't have the capacity to serve seafood as great as the islands. That was until I visited Coconuts at the old FLW and Scottsdale location. I continued to eat there as well as their new Shea location and also the location on Mayo, always eating consistently great fish tacos and poke. I would bring friends and family there who also enjoyed the fresh ingredients that reminded them of home. Surprisingly the fries on the side were also a standout but now the recipe changed and now taste just like every other takeout restaurant which is a shame. I know a lot of Hawaiian restaurants with fish tacos and poke have opened up in the area in the last few years, but Coconuts was always my go to for fresh fish and tacos and even their fries. I can't say the same about Maui fish tacos and will have to find somewhere else. On the plus side, the servers were excellent and friendly and they rightfully deserve some praise.

This is the original location that haas been there for years, but they've expanded to a few other locations. This location is small but it's cute and the staff is really friendly. You can order online for their regular menu but they had some specials this weekend (sign up for the emails because you can see the specials at leach location and you get a code for a free cookie for your birthday) so we called in. Food was ready in 15 minutes. We got the lobster roll which is Connecticut style-my preference-with lots of butter! They had a fish and chips special so we got that too. And a pb&j cookie for my birthday! My husband very recently broke his leg so picking up Chulas with some great lobster was a nice treat! It's not inexpensive but you get what you pay for. Very fresh, high quality seafood. They have great poke and a great fish market if you want to pick up raw seafood to cook at home. Definitely a little gem in SoSco.

Being the desert, the quality of Seafood is important, since we are nowhere near seawater and the reputable Chula Seafood is here to serve us, desert dwellers, well. TUNA MELT- it's refreshing to have a tuna sandwich that is not canned tuna. There is a chimichiri sauce that you can get to drizzle on it that really gives a depth of flavor. The bread was a nice sourdough that was not just a cheap white bread and did not get soggy. However, with my sandwich, the bread was burnt so that bitterness ruined the flavor of the delicate fish. My pictures shows a few burnt spots, but on the bottom side was way more burnt and it was like they put the most burnt side on the bottom to hide it and hope I didn't notice. I did not appreciate this. CLAM CHOWDER- creamy and more on the fluid consistency, being made with fresh clams makes the difference. Not the best chowder i've had, but was pretty decent. The fish variety can vary with seasons, but it is nice to get different choices throughout the year. There are limited offerings here compared to the bigger location across town, as far as menu and fish selection. But for a small store it is a good place to get some quality seafood to take home or sit and eat. Check out the great happy hour deals

High and low tables and self serve drinks. There was also a sauce table. My husband ordered the BBQ Beef plate with double Mac salad. Not sure what the cashier heard but when we checked the plate, it had sautéed cabbage instead of extra mac. Brought it to the cashiers attention and she apologized and said that was her fault. She provided another scoop. My husband said it wasn't bad and he knows his teriyaki. He did say that the extra teriyaki sauce I got helped as it was slightly dry. They also gave a lot of the bbq meat. He ran out of rice so I gave him some of mine . I ordered an Aloha Plate Combo which is a 2 choice plate from a set list and toss salad instead of mac. I got the Shrimp & Island Fire Chicken. The shrimp was okay, panko fried. The island fire chicken was a sautéed chicken with onions in a spicy sauce. It was an okay plate, nothing that really wowed. There was so much sauce on the chicken, it was hard to tell how much chicken there actually was. I also ordered 2 spam musubi for the plane as we had an early flight the next day. The rice was dry so the musubi kind of fell apart. It was recommended to eat wirh the Katsu sauce so I had a small cup in the container. It was a lot better with the sauce. Overall, if we ever do go again, I would pick something else for myself however it is a limited menu. It would be difficult for them to compete with Panda Express 3 doors down.
