I placed a fairly large order and had some time to wait, which actually gave me the opportunity to observe something truly refreshing: exceptional, genuine customer service. Mina's kindness and product knowledge were evident in every interaction. Nothing felt forced or rehearsed. It came across as completely natural, which is rare and so appreciated. What really stood out was how she carried herself during the slower moments. When there were no customers to assist, she wasn't idle or distracted. She was proactively prepping bags, wiping down counters, and engaging warmly with guests in the dining area. In an age where it's all too common to see employees disengaged and on their phones during downtime, watching Mina stay present and productive was genuinely impressive. She is courteous, knowledgeable, hardworking, and clearly takes pride in her work. Ono Hawaiian Foods, you made a great hire. Give this young lady a raise, she deserves the recognition! read more

This Ono is located in the Scottsdale Towne Center open plaza. I should have referred to my previous review. The portions are definitely smaller. We ordered our usual Aloha plate; two entrees which were Katsu and BBQ chicken. The katsu chicken batter was crunchy and a bit hard, not good. The BBQ chicken was much better. No more katsu for us unless I forget again. No more Mac salad with the meal either. A green salad is preferable to me anyway. There is a special deal right now with two different fish orders. Thank you so much, Ono for being open a little later than some of the neighboring quick food spots in the area. Honestly that was one of the big reasons that we'd even stopped in. we have Ono close to home and we actually frequent it pretty often for their awesome BBQ chicken. we love it. it's simple and it makes for an easy, clean meal. This particular location is very close to where we were staying for the week. we came in with only about an hour to spare before closing time. the sweet lady working the register was so sweet. she didn't rush us. she greeted us upon arrival. the store was neat and clean. my family and I were able to order easily and enjoy our meal in house. the portions were just right for us, just like we are accustomed to. the dining area was spacious and clean. there wasn't a wet dirty mess by the drink dispensers. that was nice. parking was easy. we parked right in front of the store. this location is the one that is in the scottsdale towne center. they are next door to a NY pizza shop. read more

Wow this is the best place for Teriyaki Chicken or Fish!! I have tried the smaller plate and it was delicious. I like the Number 1 & 21 or 22. The meals come with cabbage and broccoli plus 2 scoops of tasty rice. I like teriyaki chicken the most and it has been great every time we eat here. My wife really liked her teriyaki fish plate and the chicken. The teriyaki sauce is very tasty. Highly recommended. read more

We ordered here approximately 3 times during our short stay at a nearby resort. The beef and bbq chicken were delicious and the quantity was plentiful. The spicy chicken definitely missed the mark so I would not get that again. I think there are new owners here. I've been coming here for almost 20 years and the food is not the same. The chicken. Katsu is still good, nice and crispy but the bbq beef is dry. A regular staple in Scottsdale that has the closest accuracy to Hawaiian food in the area. Great portions for a decent price, always end up having leftovers for an additional meal later. I like that you can also change up the meal with customizations, I.e. all steamed veggies or sub more rice/Mac salad. My go-to orders are the Kalbi, Kalua Pork, and Hawaiian bbq. Happy New Year! For the last day of 2022 we decided to get some Hawaiian food. The lovely Carla was there to greet us with an Aloha and we ordered a few plates. I got the Hawaiian BBQ chicken and teriyaki chicken, Aloha plate style. The protein comes with white rice and a light salad (lots of onions though). The fire chicken we got took longer but overall we didn't wait too long for our food. Several people came in and picked up orders while we were waiting. Everything tasted great and I love the big portions at the right price. They also have a sauce station by the drinks where you can get extra teriyaki and katsu sauce to take home. Solid performer in the rice bowl category! Island fire chicken: I love to hate the hot sweet grilled deliciousness. Nose running, can't stop. Onions either raw or burnt, I eat them all. Otherwise great dish. I cannot get enough of the savory sweet hot sauce. I also really love the basic house salad and ginger dressing, includes some edamame, better than most! Every time I order the Island's favorite combos, the Kalbi beef, one piece , ALWAYS come in either miss a half side on one end, or a super huge fatty piece in the center where edible part is very small. My standards for Hawaiian BBQ are shaped by tasting the most delicious Kahlua Pork in Oahu on vacation. I had yet to experience amazing Hawaiian BBQ here in Arizona prior to visiting Ono. Short review: Fantastic food + friendly service. I highly recommend! It's a fast casual order-at-the-counter-then-seat-yourself type of concept. We got two combo plates to go. Kahlua pork, katsu chicken, and island fire chicken were the proteins we chose. I was happy they had an option to do half pork/half chicken because I couldn't decide! Each plate comes with Mac salad and rice. The protein is served atop a bed of veggies - namely cabbage + broccoli. The cabbage then picks up flavors from the protein. You can serve yourself Katsu + Terriyaki sauce. The terriyaki sauce pairs well with the Kahlua pork but it's not necessary since it's so flavorful on its own. The mac salad tasted like summertime. Bad joke: I am so glad we finally gave Ono a try because we were saying 'oyes' the whole time we ate. Da-dum-chhh *slaps knee*. Anyway, support this local business!
