He's listed as a provider under Ambetter so I chose this insurance company. I called today to make an appointment only to be told by an extremely rude member of his staff that they do not accept Ambetter... when I asked why he was listed as a provider, I was told that the corporate group accepts that insurance but he doesn't. I then asked how was I supposed to know that since he shows up as a provider her response was that "I should have called the office... I'll have ro find another dr.! I'm not going that easy...as a radio host it'll be the subject of my shows for the next MONTH! RUDE people have no place in customer service positions! I guess my loyalty to his practice means nothing therefore I'll have no problem trashing it on air! Shame on you Dr. Bates for allowing what you've built to tarnished by corporate mismanagement. I've checked with Ambetterb and they have you listed with a valid contract... in addition they have indicated that you have NOT submitted any paperwork to withdraw from their network... hence they will be filing a complaint against your practice which I will be posting on social network as soon as i get my hands on it. Your "first impression" team has failed miserably. I'm now committed to pay an insurance company for a year...that serves no purpose since I chose it so I could continue to have you as my primary care physician. Maybe... just maybe that woman that was so rude should pay more attention to having the correct information on the insurance site than being rude and callous to patients...! Without getting too graphic, part of my healing process was the need for a catheter, first time ever -- in my "male organ" by a hospital emergency room medical staff. The pain and agony I had gone through. The following day I went to see, through a great referral from a surgeon I know, -- Dr Ead at his office. Dr Ead has a confident and assuring demeanor, with a good sense of humor, as well, and simply the magic touch in placing a new catheter in me, and several times thereafter. What a difference! These were forms to be completed by hand (not digital, old school) and then had to be entered manually by the receptionist. I was a new patient and it would have been nice to have completed these forms online, prior to my visit. My appointment was set for 10:00. I did not get in the back for my triage until 10:30 and did not see the Doctor until after 11:00. They do not use a digital scales or blood pressure machines. Medical devices could use some updating. They required me to have an EKG, even though I expressed that I did not want one. They told me they would not bill my insurance and that it was for internal use only and was required by the Doctor. The examining room had rules on the wall and advertising for allergy testing, with two notices to turn your phone off as well as a referral policy. No artwork. The lobby was also decorated with policies on all the walls. Although, they did have lots of brochures for services and magazines on the waiting area. Now for my visit with Dr. Alvarez... the Doctor had a wonderful bedside manner. He was warm and friendly. Dr. Alvarez gave me a thorough exam and gave me some good medical advice. He spent a fair amount of time with me, I did not feel rushed. I would highly recommend Dr. Alvarez to anyone seeking a solid primary care physician.

When someone is unaware and needs to be educated you do not hang up on them, you correct them. It is common knowledge to say goodbye before ending a call. Just normal manners. Which they have NONE!!! I understand some people have bad days but you don't get a pass to be bad at your job.
