We thought it would be great to keep the relationship going since they did a good job. Initially, Andy was very responsive when we were considering a large ADU project. However, when we decided it wasn't the direction we wanted to go and had a few smaller projects, he completely stopped answering. I wonder since it wasn't an expensive project like an ADU did he just feel he could brush us off because the money wasn't as enticing? He did say he would be busy last Fall 2022 and that he most likely can start in Jan 2023 but he never responded to my multiple emails inquiring about it. We were also supposed to set up time with their glass contact and he did not follow through. Truly disappointed in this company.

We were becoming totally frustrated in our search for an architect and a general contractor to…read moreguide an extensive remodel of our home. What we needed and seemingly could not find was an honest estimate of costs, an architect who could help us design our project and drive the permit process, and a contractor to build the project. Finally we happened upon STEL Builders. Cory, a walking advertisement for why you need to contract with STEL, jumped on our project and quickly gave us a realistic idea of costs. He introduced us to Frank, who is an awesome person and STEL's in-house architect. Frank gave us three options of drawings to choose from. Each option met our basic requirements and also outlined possible upgrades. Based on our budget, we committed to a plan. Within two months we had permits and construction began. We were assigned a dedicated project manager with whom we met weekly to assess progress in demo and ultimately new construction. Even before demo began, we met our design angel in Ivette. She guided us through selection of fixtures, cabinetry, tile, wall coverings, flooring; all the aspects of a remodel that keeps novices like us up at night. Her calm demeanor combined with her creative ideas made this an amazingly pleasurable experience! Ivette led us to our dream design outcome, and all within the budget we worked out with savant Cory in the beginning. STEL has great relationships with all the best subcontractors & receives priority on their projects, keeping the downtime in construction to a minimum. Midway through construction, our project manager left STEL. They hired a super pro replacement in Roberto. His many years of experience enabled us to stay on track for completion and enhanced the quality of the final product. Roberto is already a tremendous asset to STEL! And all along, even as he continued to take on new projects, Cory stayed in touch and treated us as if we were his only client. No question or inquiry we had was too small or insignificant for him to address nearly as quickly as it was expressed. We moved back into our home after six months and felt like every dream we had dreamt for our forever home had come true. The outcome has exceeded our very high expectations. In Cory's introduction, he touted STEL as a small, family oriented and local Design & Build Company. He was right about that. However, we think he understated how committed to these values Seth Larson and STEL Builders really are. They get it! For people like us, this is the largest and last big expenditure we'll ever make. They treated us with respect, congeniality, honesty and integrity. Our lives and our home from now on are forever enhanced from having met and worked with Cory, Frank, Ivette and Roberto. Thank you Seth Larson for the team you've built. Thank you STEL Builders, our new extended family!

The damage was extensive, we had to take out our shower, much of the floor of the bathroom as well as the ceiling of our kitchen. Of the many contractors we had asked for quotes, Jason of EXP Construction was the first to provide his quote within the same day. All others took anywhere from one to several weeks before we received their quotes. We are very fortunate we found Jason through my sister, whose kitchen was remodeled by Jason a few years ago. Jason and his crew have earned and deserved a 5-star rating! (He deserves more, but we are only allowed 5!) We have never met a contractor who takes so much pride in his work. He listens to what we want and then offers his creative input and sketches it out so we can better envision the outcome. Multiple times he offered to do extra work to make our bathroom extra-beautiful--at no extra cost! All of his crew are very talented. Dang, in particular, has spent the most time at our home throughout the project. His tiling expertise is outstanding and so is his plumbing and electrical work. Jason also earns 5 stars for post-construction follow-up. We found a tiny little chip on our brand new bathtub after the construction was completed. We took pictures and texted them to Jason and he offered to either repair or replace the bathtub. We chose the repair option and we know that Jason will follow through with the repair in January of 2019 after the busy Holidays are over. Additionally, we have already planned to work with Jason again on our Kitchen Remodeling project in the near future.

This was a major project to replace the front facade with a new entrance and deck, sandblast and stucco, remodel the kitchen and baths, upgrade interior wiring and plumbing, replace all windows and doors, create a new room in the basement, add interior stairs, etc. etc. etc. resulting in nearly a re-build of the entire house. It required an army of subcontractors ... we were thankful that we had Alan Lingol engaged as the general contractor to manage the details. Alan has a lot of experience in the construction business and was able to work with our architect, engineer, and countless sub-contractors. He also has strong people-skills and he listened carefully to our ideas and concerns. He was organized and thoughtful. We requested many modifications as the project progressed and we were able to work through the inevitable issues that come up with a project of this size. We are very pleased with the end-product ... after-all, we live in our house every day. In many cases Alan came up with some great ideas that we had not thought of and now look back with relief that we had incorporated some of those ideas ... even if you're an expert yourself, you still want somebody who can look at things with a keen eye and suggest alternatives. There are "before and after" pictures of our kitchen posted on the company's website. Our parents also engaged his services on their beautiful home in La Jolla which included a kitchen remodel and replacement of doors and windows. We would not hesitate to engage Lingol Construction on our next project.

His team was responsive to our thoughts and tried to accommodate our desires into the project. We were able to benefit from his discounts in obtaining tile, fixtures, and equipment to create the style that we wanted in the bathroom. His team was knowledgeable in making recommendations to improve the project. The project basically stayed within the budget parameters that we agreed to in the design phase and he was willing to make modifications in the design as the project developed. His workers were careful in their work and cleaned up each day as they finished work. The project took about 6 months to complete and turned out to meet our expectations for a modern, renovated master bathroom.

There have been no wild or costly surprises, and I must say Robert has an eye for design and helped me choose final cabinet color after my first choice was a bit out there, haha. Currently we are waiting on some custom shelves to be made for installation. We are also awaiting our beverage cooler, probably on a ship off the coast . Once those items are complete, I will upload some new photos. Mahalo Robert! Can't wait to finalize this project.

Not only did they do a fantastic job and finish ahead of schedule, but they were also a pleasure to work with! Ruth and Kevin were both extremely responsive, patient, and forthcoming, and really put a personal touch on our entire experience and project from beginning to end. I really appreciate that Teknik's approach to a project plan/estimate is about thoroughly scoping the work up-front so that the estimated timeline and costs are accurate and don't unexpectedly change later on. We were up against a tricky timeline (our new baby was born during the project!) so it was very important to us that the project finished on-time and that the cost in the end was what we anticipated, which it was. On top of being very organized, communicative, and transparent, I also felt like Kevin was very well-attuned to what we were asking for and "read my mind" in proposing solutions.
