Pacific is still my favorite buffet and has been since I was in high school, but I stopped in this week and noticed some changes - most likely to cut costs and to make up for the lower lunch and dinner prices they have going right now. The grill options I wrote about in my last review are no longer, which was why I felt the need to come back and update my review. The grill area has been replaced by a hibachi bar, where you can put noodles, rice, eggs, veggies, and different raw meats on your plate and have the hibachi chef grill it all up for you with any sauce you pick. The line for it wasn't long, but my brother and I decided to pass on it because we were already eating a lot of other things. The people who did take advantage of the hibachi grill looked pretty happy, though, so I'll likely try it next time. Also different - the crab legs aren't part of the buffet, but you can order them for an additional $1.99. It makes sense since they cut the price of dinner, and it doesn't bother me because I never actually ate the crab legs anyway. The oysters and shrimp are still there and more than enough for me. Despite the changes, the Chinese food options are still great and better quality than other buffets, even though some things are hit or miss depending on the batch that comes out. For example, the General Tso's chicken was a little soggy this last time I went, but the crispy garlic shrimp that was next to it more than made up for it. It's nice that I can try a little of everything then decide if I want more when I go back for seconds (or thirds, or fourths). I grabbed a plate of sushi, and while it's not the best quality, some of it is actually pretty good. I didn't care much for the individual red snapper and tuna pieces, but I did get some pieces of interesting rolls, including one with shrimp tempura in the middle topped with different raw fishes that was great. The dessert options are also great - lots of fruits, including lychees, and several flavors of ice cream. Right now Pacific's doing a 2 for $20 deal for dinner on weekdays, or $11.99 otherwise, and lunch is cut back to $7.99. For all-you-can-eat, you can't beat that. read more

Chinese, BBQ, American cuisine, One of the largest selections I've ever seen. Everything from sushi to beans, And a staff that was the opposite of mean. What a fantastic buffet. Super clean and modern with every kind of food under the sun. Everything was very tasty except the desserts in the rotating display case. Stick to the ice cream when it comes to dessert. The sushi sticks out as the best part of my meal. One of the things that stuck out was how nice the waitstaff was. They all had huge smiles, would talk to me when they came by, and cleared my dirty plates as soon as I was done. I don't eat at buffets often but this place is certainly a hidden gem. It's somewhat tucked away so you wouldn't notice it from the main road. The food is delicious and there's a dish for just about any appetite. I've been here about twice now. I'm not the biggest fan of their food but their buffet selections are a lot better than other places. The food is normally warm when I get to it and it's usually pretty stocked. Their sushi bar is great but there needs to be an upgrade for certain rolls. I witnessed some deplorable and degrading behavior from the staff at Pacific Buffet and Grill. A young woman who was clearly disabled was verbally abused, chastised and threatened by staff. The hostess yelled at her as soon as she walked in with what appeared to be a guide dog. At first they were refused seating but eventually let inside and seated. The young woman had difficulty walking and her arm seemed paralyzed. I paid no mind to them after this until who I assume is the manager started getting loud. It appeared the woman had dropped food while she was eating. Her guide dog gobbled it down and the manager threatened to throw her and her party out if it continued. The young woman argued back she dropped it and to leave her alone, explaining her disability which she should not have felt like she needed to explain to a full dinning room. The manager would not let up and eventually just walked away and sat at a table behind them staring at her with the hostess talking in Chinese as they did so. The young woman didn't eat for the rest of the time her party was there, clearly not enjoying some time out with friends and family. I found this behavior utterly despicable, derogatory and discriminatory. I went to leave a review and scrolling through other poor reviews shows this is not the only person with a service dog that has had such treatment. Pacific Buffet and Grill discriminates against disabled people. read more

Hmmm... this one was alright but it's tough picking a good Chinese buffet out here in New Haven county because while one is not the same as the next, the quality of the food and the interior decor can leave a lot to be desired. When I stepped in it did smell really funny - like some food has gone bad or something went bad and re-heated...it was really hard to say. But I waited until it was my turn to order. In this restaurant, you pay before you dine. Talk about trust in the customer! LOL But yea, the Saturday dinner price is okay but the drink is really where they get you. Came out to a little over 16 for the buffet and the drink. The drink I believe was well over 2.50, which is a bit much considering that the drinks are from the well of the soda fountain. I take it that since it's a Saturday dinner they figured to also charge more for the fountain drinks. Anyway, so I had the following: Dim Sum - Pretty good. Sugar Donut - Very good. Steamed dumpling - OK. About every variety of sushi that they had - Pretty good. Pineapple Jello - Good. Oreo Cheesecake - Good. Sirloin Steak - Meh. Turkey - Meh. White steamed rice - pretty good. That wasn't all that I had, as everything else I had wasn't very memorable. The thing that kind of bothered about this place was that everything else cooked on display didn't look very appetizing. It just looked like it was sitting out there for quite some time. The service was OK but not very quick as other buffets when it came to taking away the empty plate so the customer can make room for a new one. I did not feel that I was being watched though. But I did feel that the servers were bored because it looked like a slow Saturday afternoon. So if you're looking for a place to eat with a pretty large group and on a budget, I would come here for a good time. Just make sure you come hungry and with an open mind to eat your money's worth. I tried hard to do that but due to how the place smelled and looked and how the food looked, I personally couldn't eat up to what I paid for. Love going here especially when you have a small budget a large appetite, your not quite sure what you want or you just want everything. I take my kids here too because even the pickiest kids find food they love. They keep all kinds of food from pizza to Chinese, to pot roast coming out fresh and hot! The ice cream area needs to be better kept to ensure cleanliness and sometimes the tables and chairs could be wiped better. This four star review should be taken in context of other buffets that I've eaten at. In the overall Yelp context, it would be three stars, but I feel that it would be unfair to compare this to a sit down restaurant offering a far smaller variety of food. Those eating establishments by their nature, should be better than a buffet. The variety of offerings here is huge. They offer traditional American food like pot roast, roast beef, roast pork, & baked ham, as well as fish, baked and fried. Pizza, mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, gravy, and much more. Typical Asian dishes that are all well above average. Sushi of many types are available, kept iced. I'm not a fan of sushi, and have never sampled what they offer here. And desserts, including fresh fruit and ice cream, of more kinds than I can list here, all very good, again, in context of a buffet. This is my go to place when I'm unable to decide what to eat when I go out. There are other Asian buffets nearby in my area, but this one is my favorite by far. Thos restaurant claims they are back to normal but they lie! Instead of $14.00 per person they charge $12.99 but they fail to tell you that they no longer are offering sim sum, clam chowder, steaks on the grill, cheese burgers, crab legs and much more! My wife and I have tried Pacific Buffet twice now. The take away for us is that it's just not very impressive at all. Nothing is really terrible, but nothing is really any good, either. The food selection is decent, at least. This is an Asian style buffet, mixing traditional Chinese Buffet elements with American Buffet elements (General Tso's chicken and rice, along with steak and potatoes, etc). The selection is actually the highlight here, but the quality is just lackluster; nothing stands out. The cleanliness is hit or miss... the restaurant itself is clean enough, but I had to cycle through more than one dirty plate before finding a clean one, each time I went up there. The service is also poor. I asked one of the women clearing the plates if there was any barbecue sauce (for my fried chicken), and she told me that they had none. Another worker (one of the cooks, I think), overheard and said that they did have some, which he got for me (they must just use big jugs for cooking, but don't have any bottles to bring to the tables). I was thankful he got some for me, but if he hadn't been standing there I would have gone without. All in all, this is not a favorite place of ours. I can't say we'll never go back, but I don't really know if we will. The only compelling reason for us to return is that there is no other comparable buffet in the area. So they sat me RIGHT next to an old "gentleman" ... As soon as I sat down the guy started (or continued from before I got there depending on how you look at it) letting em fly if ya get my drift. I almost told the guy he should go check himself in the bathroom. I figured eh. Not the restaurants fault I'll continue with my experience. I went up to the buffet. Immediately drawn to the sushi side of things... Mistake! The sushi had signs on every other item that stated "for dinner customers only" (mind you its 230pm) and the rest of the sushi wasn't labeled at all... I assume that what I COULD eat? Idk.. Needless to say all the stuff an avid sushi eater WOULD eat was labeled for dinner only.. The other stuff looked not fresh and just overall unappealing. With fears of running up my bill I backed away from the sushi and walked over to the Chinese food.. I grabbed some rice. And some general tsos chicken... I took one bite of the chicken and immediately got this grizzle crunchy uhhhggh yuck making me gag thinking about it. I spit out the bite into a napkin and just walked out.. First time to this place, I was so surprised by the quality and the quantity of selections. To start out this place have your classic Chinese selections such as General Tso's, Chicken w. Broccoli, Sugar Donuts, and dumplings. Then there are American dishes that no other buffets has, such as Steaks on the grill...oh...oh shrimp scampi (my favorite)... lastly, they have a awesome variety of sushi... I was way too full by the time I came around for the sushi.....(maybe next time). I finished with some hard packed ice cream. The staffs are friendly and the place is clean. I will be back soon to try out the sushi, I don't think I will be disappointed. I am not a huge buffet fan. However, I have always been pleased with Pacific Buffet. It is probably one of the better buffets in the area. The food is always fresh and they have a wide selection of food. Selection varies from typical Chinese/American buffet fare to grilled meats and sushi. Pricing is good too. During the week for lunch it is $8 a person and all day on weekends and/or dinner it is $12 a person. I have not had a bad experience here and always leave satisfied. read more

This one by far is the worst I've been to. The food choices are lacking when compared to other AYCE restaurants and the quality and taste is very poor. I'm hesistant to review, just because it seems like we landed here on "unruly kid night", where every parent lets their kid roam around the buffet as if manners were a thing of the past. Yep, i surely want to eat from a pile of food after your kid has dragged their snot covered hand through just about every dish being offered. If i were running the place there were about 6 families that would have been kicked out on their ass. Nobody kids need 3 full bowls of ice cream. /end rant That being said, the sushi was pretty good until i heard the guy say "tilapia". Excuse me? No more buffet sushi for me. Pretty sure they'd impale you John Belushi style if you tried to serve tilapia sushi in japan. Everything, except for the steamed dishes seemed to be over-sugared. This place is AWFUL. My boyfriend and I decided to grab a bite to eat on Saturday night when he suggested Pacific. He has been there before and shared that they had a nice variety to chose from and was high quality food. With that being said I agreed and away we went! I should have known the minute we walked in the place to turn around. Upon entering the restaurant there was vomit (yes you read that correct) on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. When we went it to be seated the hostess was rude and sat us down at a dirty table which she cleaned off while we were standing there. A waitress never came to take our drink order so we decided to go grab some food. The buffet was not stocked well, everything was picked over and frankly quiet messy. I ended up trying to play it safe as I was unsure of the food quality. I decided on the salad bar with some mac and cheese and chicken wings. Two bites in and I decided that it was a bad decision. Everything tasted artificial and the salad was not fresh. My boyfriend got some Chinese food and Sushi and reported that he has had better. About 10 minuets later a waitress finally came over to take our drink order and after a few minutes returned with our drinks AND our check. Needless to say we are never returning. read more

This place is like a nice/souped up version of Old Country Buffet (OCB), with better food, and a much different clientele. HUGE selection. I mean GI-NOR-MOUS! Chinese is especially good. STAY AWAY FROM THE SUSHI, tastes funny and is mostly rice. They've also got most of the standard OCB types of food, just MORE of it. Servers are drab, but I mean, whaddya expect? Go for lunch. Pacific Buffet and Grill is about what you expect. A variety of asian standard dishes, a little bit of American food and variety stuff, fruits, salad bar, and the like. Actually they had grilled plantains which were very good. Two snags here. One, I had tea. And when it was brought out, either it didn't steep long enough or not in the right temperature, because I was almost completely drinking water. Two, about half the food was lukewarm. Work near by. It's an easy place to get in and out of during lunch hours. The place offers Chinese, America Grill and Sushi. I love their grilling station, which offers good variety of grilled meat. I've been here quite a few times and always enjoyed the selection. I do warn not to go on a Sunday when the prices are upped for no other reason then... Its Sunday. I love their sweet sugary little buns. Tons of food to pick from. Also not a bad dessert selection either. Love their chocolate cake! As for sushi its not that terrible but don't expect anything spectacular there, it is a buffet after all. Giving them a break there i personally like it probably more to do with the fact i get huge scoopfuls of wasabi that i love! Sometimes they do have more intricate rolls to pick from too! My husband and I don't get to go out to eat that often but when we do we like to support our community. We have been going to Pacific on and off since they opened but the last three times have been terrible. The chicken items were all dry as was the beef barbecue. We could hardly chew either of them.
