We had our 40y+ two doors replaced recently to modern aluminium ones, and with the built-in phone connection now, I can check if the garage door is left open from most anywhere in the world. We also recently had 2-day power failures and the new openers have batteries in them, which allowed to us to come in and out at least 6 times no problem. Dan says he could do this about 12 times. Doors and rail hardware are very quiet and I cannot tell if my wife is back, but the phone app alerts me without an app subscription. What I was impressed with Dan's team: - They take and answer and return calls quickly. - They come out fast if you live in Half Moon Bay coast side. - Very efficient, clean jobs. (You check my garage floor when I say this.) - Our doors were installed just over a week from the order, which is fast for this scale of work! Used them on my house for a broken garage, ended up being the spring. Great pricey but a local coast business. Then my garage door would automatically go up when it touched the garage floor. Call them again they looked into it, programmed it and then it happened again. The same technician the son came out and charged me (not a big deal) then told me if it does it again, garage door motor is going to be needing replacement. Obviously it did it again so we went without a garage door opener for a while then I called. PACIFICA garage door that has been purchased by GDI and a young technician (22years old) came out I explained we need a new garage motor. He said let's take a look at it. He took time and reprogrammed it and now 5 months later still working without a problem. He said looks to be set to go to far Down and it will automatically go back up. I waited to confirm this reprogram service call to confirm my fix. So far so good! Main spring on our small garage door broke as I was trying to get the MG out of the garage. While I normally am a "fix it myself" kinda guy, I have NO idea how these springs actually mount/work, so resigned myself to weeks w/o a garage door opener (on the coast, one waits and waits for the "we can be there two weeks from today" thing...being remote does have its downside). Called the # for the ONLY garage door company on the coast, Pacific Garage Doors. It was almost 4:30, so expected v-mail. To my surprise, a guy picked up. I explained the problem, asked what kind of timeframe I was looking at, and got "oh we keep those springs on the truck - would 5pm be too late?" As I hurriedly picked up my jaw off the floor, I said heck no! He showed up, his team did a great repair (and after watching, it was NOT something I could do....pretty dangerous stuff, winding the spring). GREAT experience - and given my big garage door is used more, and has two aged springs, I suspect I'll be seeing them again soon. On a side note - the SMALL door weighs 85lbs. When the spring is broken, there is nothing to keep the door up, so it drops like a rock. Good reason to keep kids away from garage entries. Never had thought about it before, but it would do some SERIOUS damage. read more

He and Dan the son came within 1/2 hour to open the door so we could get our cars out. They came just 2 days later and fixed it. While fixing it, they got another call for the same problem, and went to take care of it, even though it was late and Dan was trying to get out of town for his 40th wedding anniversary. This father-and-son team deserves more than five stars. We first encountered them when we needed someone to look at our existing garage door setup and offer advice. They spent a good 30 minutes working on our garage door and didn't charge us a dime. Several months later we decided to replace the entire door with a Sonoma style door with decorative hardware. Needless to say, they did a flawless job. Dan Jr. was extremely particular about getting the decorative hardware just so, which my wife and I appreciated. The garage door is now one of our favorite features on our old home. We have subsequently purchased a new home, and the garage door immediately failed. Dan Sr. picked up the phone despite the long holiday weekend, and he sent Dan Jr. over to take a look. Dan spent a fair amount of time analyzing the existing door (which is super heavy and rather beat-up), and then when I subsequently tried to open the door manually and nearly killed myself (true and embarrassing), both Dans came to the new house and a huge amount of time (again without charge) trying to help us out. We ultimately decided to replace the garage door on our new house with exactly the same door we installed on our old house, and Dan and Dan have worked hard to ensure that they can get it done more quickly than one would normally expect. I was able to reach Dan and made an appt to have him look at what's wrong with my garage door. Note that he replaced my whole garage do I have his number on my garage wall. My husband met with him and I guess because of the Covid he didn't even look at what was wrong with my garage but gave my husband an estimate. No mention whether they were repairing my garage they just left. I sent him an email again and as his previous customers I tried to ask if he will give as a discount but his response was he was not available in the next few weeks. I guess he didn't want my business because I asked for a discount. My garage door broke this weekend (one of the lifting cables snapped), and I called Pacific Garage Doors after reading the reviews here on Yelp. Dan (the owner) answered the phone himself and gave me an estimate right over the phone. He and his son were at my house within an hour or so and completed the repair quickly and professionally. Dan also mentioned that they could replace the other cable now since they were there, and offered to replace the wheels as the bearings were very rusted and wouldn't last much longer. I chose to do both items and now have a smooth, quiet door that I know will last a long time. He also gave me an extra remote that he had and replaced the cover on the inside opener for no charge! I would very highly recommend Dan and his son to anyone, and will use them for sure when I'm ready to get a new door (although I won't need one now for a long time!). They were fast, clean, friendly, professional and very reasonably priced. I'm so happy to have found another great business located on the coast! read more
