Pacific Coat Paint was the ONLY paint company who would even discuss doing interior painting at the tail end of summer. All other paint companies were desperately trying to finish up exterior painting before the rains came. Because my budget was on the lower end, they worked with me to build a custom quote for only the finished area of the basement floor of my house, excluding the bathroom. They staffed the crew of two, who showed up and were done within 2 days, one of which was mostly devoted to prep and taping everything off. If I remember correctly, it even ended up raining one of those days so they wouldn't have been able to do exterior work anyway. Guess they made the smart choice not to lose out on business! There was some weird peeling paint going on in the bedrooms, and Pacific Coat did an extra inspection before work began to make a recommendation. I was dreading that it might be due to moisture, but they took a look and said it was more likely due to multiple layers of paint over wallpaper. Oops. They helped scrape off and even out the affected area, and patched another area with a hole in the wall. Quality at the end of the project was good. Can't find anything to fault there. Though I begrudgingly booked this service, because technically painting is something I "could" do myself, I am glad to have had Pacific Coat take of it. The bill was ~$2700, but their quick work let me get roommates in weeks to months sooner than if I had tackled the project myself. This is a hard one to review...Anthony, who was in charge of the painting portion was very helpful and patient as I tried to figure out colors, etc. , he was straightforward and the paint job itself turned out well. My continuing concern is around the caulking part of the job. It isn't holding and/or is falling off in some areas. Pacific Coat wasn't the lowest bidder or the highest but the job turned out excellent and I feel like I received good value for every dollar spent. The old saying is that a good paint job is 75% preparation and that certainly describes how Pacific Coat painted my house. Our previous painter pressure washed one day and painted the next. Pacific Coat spent four days with a two man crew washing, scraping, calking and spot priming before they painted. When they were nearly done they asked me to inspect everything and make a touch-up list. I was pretty picky about it. Their response was to take care of all of it, immediately, with no questions asked. That's excellent service. I would highly recommend Pacific Coat Painting! We wanted to do some interior painting across our entire home, including ceilings, walls, and trim. I reached out to four different companies for quotes, and was impressed by Pacific Coat's customer service, reputation, and competitive pricing. We first met with Josh for the quote. He spent about an hour in our home, walking from room to room to understand what we wanted done, providing his opinion, and answering all of my questions. I felt like he was really taking the time to look at each room and evaluate its needs. He promptly sent a detailed quote later that day. I appreciated the level of detail in the quote about what was included/not included in each room, what potential add-ons there could be, etc. (and other quotes I received from other companies did not have this level of detail). I then sent him a list of additional questions (a long list!) and he was thorough and prompt in making sure I had all my questions answered. The customer service and level of detail was wonderful, and at no point did I feel pressured to move forward. I was also interested in working with a color consultant, and he shared a recommendation with me. Once we sent in our deposit and had our job scheduled, he introduced me to our paint lead, Kyle. Kyle and the rest of the painting team were amazing! Kyle set-up a time to come by and do another walk through of our home before painting began, and again took the time to answer all of my questions. I decided last minute to change some paint colors, and he was flexible with that change. The job started on time, and he and his team arrived promptly every day and he provided a great summary of progress/next steps at the end of every day. My husband and I work from home and that took coordination on Kyle's part to make sure that we were all able to be in the house together (and had access to a bathroom)! Kyle and his team were great - skilled, professional, friendly, and just kind and lovely people to have in your home for this type of detailed job. They made sure spaces were cleaned and organized before leaving for the day, and were flexible when things came up (like needing some extra time in our bathroom to do a deeper cleaning of the walls before paint went on). We were thrilled with the paint job itself and couldn't believe what a difference it made to our home. Our final invoice was exactly what we discussed/expected. I feel bad this review has taken me so long to write, so here goes: We were put on an eight month wait list by the paint company we initially wanted to work with, which was frustrating. Especially since we had been communicating with them for the better part of 5 months. So we were really excited to be referred to Pacific Coat Painting and Adam, the bid and paint specialist. He had us booked and ready to go within a month and stuck to that timeline. From start to finish, Brad and his team were FANTASTIC at painting our house. They were professional, friendly, and really observant and caring with the plants and space around the house. They always cleaned up each night and made sure to communicate and check in daily. I really can't say enough good things about their team. We were sad to see them leave! The before and after of our house speaks for their attention to detail and quality. They spent the better part of a week scraping the house down, fixing any trouble spots, and alerting us to issues that need to be addressed, or might become a problem. My house had needed a new paint job ever since I bought it years ago. Not only was the old paint peeling from the siding, but the colors were dated, to put it mildly. Further, having an older house meant there was old lead paint to deal with along side minor siding and trim repairs. I spent days poring through various companies and their online reputations and was impressed by the quality of reviews that Pacific Coat Painting received. I ultimately received four quotes for the job, and while Pacific Coat Painting wasn't the cheapest (nor were they the most expensive), with all of the stellar reviews, I wanted to go with a company I could feel confident about. Everyone I worked with during the project was friendly, punctual, responsive, and most importantly took pride in the quality of their work. We worked together to get the whole project to fit within my budget and I am super pleased with the results. Matt heads up their carpentry and expertly identified (and later repaired) the defects in trim and siding. I was so impressed that I also hired him to replace my entire patio awning which had been leaking and slowly rotting. The repairs and the new awning look and function great. Kyle, the foreman, and Sam took on the main painting job. They were thorough about their prep work and even coordinated with me so that I could use my window AC unit in between the times they didn't need to have the window covered. If you've read other reviews, you'll not be surprised by me mentioning their attention to detail. But that was concretely demonstrated to me as they suggested painting things like the radon unit or removing unused coax cable. In the walk though, I noticed things they painted that I had not even noticed needing to be painted before! If you're considering these folks for your paint job, definitely get an estimate from them. Adam came out and walked through the project with me, on time, super prompt and asked great questions. Once we decided to move forward, we had a team assigned (Josh) - he and I texted about coordinating, weather, etc. We had a window starting on a Sunday, Josh texted me and said they'd be out on Sunday at 11 AM to start. The team arrived early and they swarmed the house from a prep standpoint and then for the next couple of days - this team just got after it. Josh was great about checking in, verifying, etc. in projects like this, I'm all for open lines of communication because I think it just makes the project go so much smoother. Disappointed. After reading such great Yelp reviews, I left the company a call in order to get a bid for my living room and dining room. Kevin responded almost immediately, and he quickly scheduled some time to come see the place in person the following day. He was pleasant and personable, and gave me confidence that this was the right company for the job. That's where the good ends. Kevin promised that he would email me a bid over the weekend, specifically Sunday. I waited for his bid, and found nothing in my inbox during the weekend. I waited a few more days -- at this point, it was Wednesday -- and still got nothing. I decided to text him that day (he told me it was okay to text his cell and had been responded before when I had) and got no response. I sent him an email the following day -- Thursday, at this point -- and still got nothing. I gave them a call on Friday, with no luck there either. At this point, it's been 2 weeks since his initial visit and the only evidence I have that they were ever at my house in the first place is the fact that I have his business card. This sort of unresponsiveness is unacceptable -- I guess they don't need my business after all. But still. I am a young first-time homeowner, therefore this was my first paint job. This being the case, everyone likes to share their experiences about homeownership, so I had heard horror stories about poor prep, rude crew, and poorly executed paint jobs that required re-painting the next year, so I was a bit wary headed into the painting process, but I had my house painted in late September, and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out and I'm very glad I went with the folks at Pacific Coat Painting. Price was a huge factor for me - having just bought the house, I had little cash left for painting, but it was the first thing on my "To-Do" list for the house, so I decided to just bite the bullet and have it painted considering the paint was peeling and was a blah grey/blue color. Pacific Coat had a reasonable bid for my 1929 two story house and adjacent garage. I opted to to three colors - a dark blue, a white/cream trim, and a green accent and I'm so glad I spent the extra money on three colors than on two. The second most important factor to me was my yard - the property has an unbelievable amount of delicate plants, some of which (including Wisteria) are right next to the house or garage, so I almost felt bad asking a crew to paint around all of the mature plantings, but the guys did a great job - no broken branches, no trampled flowers, no debris scattered all over the plants. They painted around the wisteria to get all of the garage - I had told them that I could paint around that little bit myself once I trimmed it back in winter, but they somehow managed to get it all. They were careful to remove all of the fixtures around the exterior of the house to paint around them, and they did good prep-work to make sure my paint job would last. It's only been a few months, but so far, everything all looks great, and another horror story averted. read more

My poor old 1927 bungalow had peeling lead paint and blah colors. These guys handled the lead paint properly and quickly. They removed all the old caulk, primed and filled holes, hammered down all the raised nails, pulled out all the stray ones, reglazed my windows, put in new supports on my sagging double hung windows, and even took down and washed my storm windows! We chose Pacific Coat Painting to do a facelift on our 1950s SW Portland home based on reviews and we were not disappointed! We received a very professional and prompt initial bid from Kevin. After attempting to obtain other bids from other recommended painting companies (one who called us after looking at our house on Google earth to give us a bid which was sever thousand dollars more than Pacific Coat!!) and terrible communication with other companies, we felt very comfortable with choosing Pacific Coat. Our painting crew (Kyle and Denny) was superb! Their communication and promptness were greatly appreciated after dealing with less than stellar communication with the company that we selected to replace our roof. Aside from being just really nice guys, they gave us honest opinions on our selected color and paint brand selection. We went with a really dramatic dark color on our house and were advised to shell out the extra money for Benjamin Moore paint and the actual color that we selected instead of getting it matched by another paint brand. We are really happy we did and are so pleased with the results! Kyle and Denny prepped (scraped and power washed) and painted in three days and then came back for one additional day for the detail work and doors. The attention to detail was impeccable and we really appreciated being able to walk through the finished job to make sure we were happy. From what I gather, all of their crews are employees instead of being sub-contractors. I feel that this does make a difference in the quality of work. Fantastic job from start to finish with Pacific Coat Painting! We decided to have our 1968 MCM house painted black and wanted to make sure we chose the right company for the job! Getting the right color, finish and sheen was very important to us. The estimate was fair and did not increase during the process.
