They were extremely helpful getting all of my legal paperwork scanned and into his records so that I can continue to bring him where he is the most comfortable. As a patient of 8-10 years at this location I DO NOT recommend Smiles Dental. I was originally a patient of Dr. Amanda before she and her husband sold the practice and she was great. They are both long gone now and the practice is owned by a corporation. Now it feels like they treat their patients as a sales and revenue opportunity: always trying to get you to do additional services or procedures. It's a continual revolving door of Dentists so I never get to know one of them personally or build a trusting relationship. At my last appointment I had the most rushed cleaning and exam ever. The entire time the hygienist and dentist said how great my teeth looked, everything was perfect, this visit will be uneventful etc. only to be told in the last 90 seconds of the appointment I need work done. They didn't even show me on an X-ray or which tooth or what. Just wanted to push me to make an appointment to get it done. No one likes to be surprised with bad news in this way after being led to believe everything was great the entire appointment. I didn't appreciate the experience and something in my gut told me I should get a second opinion. They also sold me a prescription toothpaste which was $20. Then they later told me I had a credit on my account which covered it. I hadn't been to the dentist in nearly a year so any credit I had should've been communicated to me or my insurance, as that money doesn't belong to Smiles. One week later I got a second opinion and my new dentist couldn't find a single thing wrong or needing work. And he was confused why I was sold prescription toothpaste. I am done with Smiles Dental, and don't recommend them unless you're looking for someone who sells you products and dental work you don't truly need. read more

Both my wife and I have been patients as this particular clinic since it belongs to Dr. floor. We have recently had numerous bad experiences involving the billing department, to include double billing, saying they never received my check, while I held a canceled check in my bank account. The dentist, hygienist, and dental assistant are wonderful, but the administration is poor. read more

The dentists are ok, but most of the office staff are incompetent or just don't care about accuracy or anything really.

I would avoid this place at all costs. I went I. When I had some bad tooth pain, they told me they talked to my insurance and said my insurance would cover everything. When I went back for the work to be done they said I had to pay $850. So I did. Then a couple months later they billed me for another $100. I called my insurance and they said it will be covered as long as smiles dental send them the X-ray and they still haven't read more

My dentist of 25 years retired. I then went to 3 different dentists and then I was so blessed to find Dr Smith and his dental assistant at Smile Dental on Mission St in Salem I needed to have a root canal and 4 crowns They were WONDERFUL. Went in for an emergency appointment, I don not currently have insurance so I ampay out of pocket they didn't do anything other then refer me to a near by specialist ( must be friends) and sent me away in extreme pain and told to take Tylenol with my advil, the worst money I have lost read more

I'm not a fan of dentist offices... but this one runs like a well oiled machine! The front desk and support staff are awesome and do a great job with billing and scheduling issues. I like Dr. Cooper, she is very nice and has an air of confidence about her that puts me at ease. read more

I've had three appointments so far at Smiles Dental and couldn't be more pleased. I have very severe dental anxiety which I expressed to the front desk person when I made my initial appointment. Every single person I have come in contact with has been exceptionally understanding and kind. Ale is my hygienist and she's the sweetest. Dr. Hall is compassionate and extracted a wisdom tooth with minimal discomfort. My daughter is also a patient at this practice and sees Dr. Nebeker and we've been pleased with her care as well. It's quite clear that this office prioritizes patient comfort, I highly recommend! read more

First time in for professional teeth whitening. I was promptly greeted by a friendly receptionist and then taken back to get started very quickly! My assistant who did the procedure was Aron: he is incredibly thoughtful by putting up my purse/jacket, was thorough with treatment and just had a kind and friendly demeanor about him. Certainly not a place I would recommend. Not only does it feel like an assembly line dental office but within 8 hours of returning to seeing the dentist a few days after an extraction because something just didn't feel right I ended up in the emergency room then transferred to OHSU for emergency surgery to remove and drain an abscess / infection that was spreading down my neck towards my chest!!!!! At my visit complaining of my symptoms I was told everything was normal .... well it was less than normal !!!!!!! The ER doctors at the first hospital were shocked I had been at the dental off just hours prior. They planned on contacted the Smiles Dental office. I had a cleaning with Maddy and she was amazing! She was so thorough but gentle at the same time.

Went in because tooth was sore. Dentist (unnamed) had me bite down on something hard to find the bothersome tooth because I wasn't sure. Pinpointed a back molar reluctantly and he said I needed a crown because the tooth is cracked. Paid a ton of money up front and ended up getting crowned on wrong tooth. When I went in for my permanent crown, I explained my concern. Asst said they can't see cracks in teeth with X-ray. Huh!?!? I swear the dentist hardly looked at my X-rays in my initial visit. Dental asst communicated my concern to the dentist who looked at my X-ray for 15 seconds, then put my new crown in, and walked away. WTF!!! Stay away!!!! read more

Until today I had been a patient at the Salem location for several years, but after the incompetence and dishonesty I've dealt with the last two appointments, I won't be back. I want to add my bad billing experience to the other reviewers. I had three fillings done at the same time, it was by far the most painful experience I have ever had at a dentist office. When I left I handed them my credit card and said I was paying the entire cost at that time (I don't have insurance and was very clear that I didn't want to make payments). When I started receiving bills for an additional $300.00 - I called twice and went in person. The office manager said "I don't know what you want me to do, it's your account." She was awful and dismissive and called me rude when I got frustrated with being charged more than what they told me the cost of the fillings would be. I referred my sister to the same office and not only were her fillings and exams incredibly painful as well, they charged her repeatedly for amounts that were written off by insurance. read more

Like most, going to the dentist has never been my favorite thing to do; everyone at Smiles Dental makes it an easy experience. My dentist, Dr. Cooper is the extremely competent professional you want to receive your dental services from. She provides the most complete exam required, and ensures your dental health is her biggest concern. Kudos on her professionalism, technical skills, and down-to-earth pleasant personality. Likewise, I would like to commend her dental assistant Brittany. She provides the thorough, professional, cleaning and preparation work to make your smile bright and your experience at the dentist pleasant. Her hard work and dedication are well in evidence and very welcome. Lastly, I would like to recognize the front office staff and the often overlooked insurance/billing personal. All are pleasant to work with and concerned for your needs. As a personal note, a special thanks to the insurance/billing staff. I took my 8 year old daughter in with a painful tooth, they gave us treatment options. I opted to have the tooth pulled since it was a baby tooth. They offered "laughing gas" at no cost. I got a very sweet call from my hygienist apologizing for not giving me more info and offering to reimburse me for the fluoride treatment. Everybody has off days and she was so professional about dealing with it that I was happy to agree to take my review down after that...but before I'd had the chance to do so, I received not one but two calls from another member of the staff requesting that I erase my review. It felt disrespectful that she was further wasting my time, and her attitude gave me the feeling this office is in the habit of persuading people to take down negative reviews, which is a little shady. As I told them when I called back, if I'd had more information about them up front, I wouldn't have come in and had a negative experience in the first place. So I told them to keep the refund. My review stands, not because of anything to do with the hygienist, but to let others know that this place has some issues in the way it's run. read more

First, dental hygienist Kristin is extremely sweet, very thorough, and especially gentle at the same time. Then you have Dr Cooper and her assistant Mary. What wonderfully personable and fun people to have working in the general dentistry profession. Love them and I can tell they take great pride in their work and I'm extremely confident their dentistry is exceptional. Also, they are all very geinuinally concerned with easing any anxiety you might have and are very gentle and caring. Didn't have one moment of pain at any point and that includes the Novacaine injections and drilling. read more

The service was fine when i went, what i am upset about is them not having record of xrays for me and absolutely no record that my daughter even exits. We will be going elsewhere for dental work. I am hoping when our new dentist orders our records that they find my daughters. read more

I have been to many dentist offices and have had so many negative experiences. As I was growing up I had many dental procedures done and due to that I have alot of anxiety at dentist offices. I came to this place when I was referred by a friend and I couldnt think of going anywhere else. They are great at making me feel comfortable and letting me know that they care about my comfort and acknowledge my anxiety and they will do whatever to help me with that. They truly care more about the patient and the health of their teeth more than getting money. Of course you have to pay for work you get done, nothing is free but they work with you and you can really tell they have a true passion for dental health and their patients. I would never go anywhere else! Thank you for always being patient with me and lowering my anxiety and making me like the dentist appts that much more.
