I was able to bring the empty frame in to Gary's shop on a weekend and he got it fixed beautifully for me right away. Then, he spotted a minor flaw in the glass after he had already made the initial replacement. It was small enough that I may have never noticed, but Gary did. He instantly made plans to redo the piece at no extra charge and still got it back to me the very next day despite clearly having other projects and obligations. Great service, great attention to detail and willing to go the extra mile. He even attached new very sturdy hanging wire for the mirror as the mirror's glass had broken when the old wire (after more than 50 years of service on the wall at my mother in law's house) suddenly snapped. She will be very excited to see this mirror whole again. Wonderful!

I tried asking around, and no one knew of any company that specialized in domestic window repairs. I googled "window repair" and The Skylight Place illuminated my screen. I submitted a request via the website and Paul from The Skylight Place responded immediately. Within a week, Daniel Melgoza was able to visit to measure the broken window. Today, he stopped by during the scheduled window (which is actually really hard to do: I know, because I previously worked as an office manager in Construction) He laid down a tarp, which was very very sweet and conscientious as I am one of those weird neurotic people who doesn't like shoes in the house. Daniel repaired the window super quickly and now I have one less thing to worry about.

The window was not square, and they actually cut the window perfectly to size! (That may sound like a given, but no, it is not. One other place had cut a piece for me and they would only cut it one length, I needed 1/8 inch longer on one side.) They sanded the edges and loaded it up for me in my car. The glass is perfect, nothing fancy, just 1/8" but I was so happy with this result! Everyone I spoke to was delightful and very pleasant. I have had glass cut for other windows in the past, but never had such excellent results. I was especially grateful for the sanded (safety bevels) on the edges. I have had to handle fresh cut edges in the past, and I did not know that the sanding was available. Cut edges on glass is really stressful. We will be going back here for any glass needs.

He asked a few questions about the project- it was a very large living room screen that was barely holding on . He gave me a quote and had an appointment the next day. The next day he text that he had a cancelation and he could come by early which worked out fine. He arrived on time. I showed him the screen and another screen I needed done but because I am a senior on a fixed income I wasn't sure I could afford it. He broke down the cost and I found it would be "much" more affordable for me to have them both done at the same time. Sean is very kind and loved my barky dogs who just wanted attention. I gave Showcase a 5+ when the door was first installed. Then I had a problem. Miserable…read moreexperience! I would give them a Zero if Yelp offered it. The problem showed up two days after door installation. Large cracks appeared in the the threshold tiles under the bottom panel mounting bracket and under the bottom hinge. The hinge also looked damaged and the door stuck in the closed position. I reported this to Chris expecting a helpful voice on the other end of the phone: not! Without seeing anything he blamed it on the tile people, then emphatically demanded a charge of $500. per visit to deal with it. I was quite surprised at this turn in demeanor from him! I had no option but to have him come out to remove the door. When he removed the door we both discovered that the door glass itself had damaged the hinge. But Chris was still insistent that the tile guys did a bad job. To figure this out I talked with the hinge manufacturer and determined that the hinge had been installed backwards, which led to stress on the tile and damage to the hinge. Chris was still not cooperative. Fortunately the tile people were terrific. They rebuilt the broken tiles, properly installed an identical replacement hinge and offered to do it at no charge. I happily paid them, JC Tile in Seaside, CA, what I would have paid Chris. I Do Not recommend Showcase. Beautiful door, not of their doing, and Chris, the owner, turned out to be dreadful to work with. Don't do it!

He had all the coolest equipment (laser levelers for both horizontal and vertical markings, etc.). It has been 3 years since the shower glass was installed, and both shower doors still swing perfectly. Nothing has come loose. If you are doing a remodel, MAKE SURE YOU PUT PLENTY OF LUMBER FRAMING BEHIND THE TILE TO HANDLE ALL THAT GLASS WEIGHT! It is one of the first questions Chris will ask you. My mother opted to ask another glass company in Seaside, CA to do her frameless shower in 2017. Chris was busy, so we just went with the other company. We wish we had waited for Chris. The other people were gruff, arrogant and they had to come back to readjust their work AFTER the glass door slipped and scratched the fixed glass panel. Their attitude about the scratch was like, "Eh, no big deal. These things happen." This type of bathroom glass requires a heart-surgeon mentality from the installer. Chris has that mentality. Don't risk it with anyone else.

He removed some cabinets at either end of the room, replaced some damaged dry wall, put in new manufactured wood flooring, painted, fixed some electrical issues, and also did a few other jobs for me. He cleaned up the site, hauled off debris, and was a joy to work with. With Ben, no job seemed too small or too large, his approach to everything I asked of him was dealt with willingness and skill, and I would highly recommend him to others who need jobs done around the house.

The two guys at rent-a-husband that did the work were really nice guys. The problem is, I don't…read morebelieve they have the experience to be doing what they are doing. They charge $75 an hour for regular handyman contractor work and $125 an hour for plumbing and electrical. When I questioned them, they said they were licensed contractors, general, plumbing and electrical. That made me feel comfortable with their abilities. The electrical project I had them work on had to two with a breaker tripping. They spent 4 hours and never fixed it but billed me $500. I had another electrician come out who billed me $90 an hour and he fixed it in less than 4 hours. Then there was the plumbing. I told them I had a tub that leaked and had damaged sheetrock on the roof below. Their solution was to get some spray foam to spray around the opening at the base of the faucet. Then they repaired the sheetrock. The problem is, the spray foam wasn't water proof, and the tub leaked again. I had another plumber come out and it turns out it was the spray nozzle on the faucet that was leaking. I just need to get a new faucet. Now I have to have the sheet rock on the ceiling below torn out and re-done. They also replaced a bowl wax on a toilet and it is leaking again. I asked them for their license numbers and it turns out Rent-a-husband is licensed under a man named Wes Koenig, but Ben and Brad, the two men that do the work are not licensed themselves. They may have the skills for general handyman work like hanging pictures and moving furniture but I don't think they are qualified to do plumbing and electrical. In total I spent about $5,000 and everything has to be redone. I tried to resolve my issues with the owner of the company and he gave me the runaround. I feel like I was totally taken advantage of and I do not recommend that anyone use their services.
