Was referred here by my PCP. Took about a week for them to contact me to schedule my initial consult. From referral to initial consult was approx 5 weeks. After the consult it was decided that I should go through with colonoscopy, which was scheduled in 2 weeks. Upon arrival at the center, check in was easy, completed the copay and was taken in the back approx 20 minutes after arrival. Everything happened quickly after that- questions about my health history, BP monitoring, change of clothes into a gown, IV inserted, receiving fluids. Personal items kept under me on a shelf under the hospital bed. Shortly after that the nurse anesthetist (Martin) wheeled me from the bay to the surgical area, I met the MD (Dr. A-Rahim) and GI tech (Anthony), all very nice! We reviewed my history/reason for procedure, and before I knew I was listening to an explanation of the anesthesia and dozed off. After what felt like a second I was back in the bay. Done! BP monitored, given some tea, changed back into my clothes. They staff was so efficient, I was out of there 11 minutes after my scheduled procedure time . The nurse made sure to review my discharge paperwork including results and lack of abnormalities (thankfully), and walked me out to make sure 1) I didn't fall or lose my balance and 2) make sure I had transportation since you shouldn't drive after anesthesia. When I need another colonoscopy (in 10 years ) I will definitely come here. I think the process of scheduling my initial consult took weeks due to my issue not being emergent. Scheduling a routine colonoscopy may be more routine and well in advance of the procedure date. Thank you to all the friendly and professional staff: Dr. A-Rahim, Nelia (RN), Luz (RN), Martin (CRNA), and Anthony (GI tech). You've made my first colonoscopy experience easy, quick, and stress free .

Joking aside this is serious. So let's talk about health. It's important to get this exam done. I mean, really it's a pain in the butt to get this rescheduled and the prepping just blows you away. #1 you have to have a clear liquid diet the day before and drink this awful gallon of liquid that really taste like crap. #2 you are literary on the porcelain throne all day and night. It's the, "Okay I'm finally done. I'll just wash my hands and oooh noooo", run back to the closest washroom. #3 have someone plop you off for procedure and you wait for your appointment time. The waiting room looks small but people were dropping in and out quickly. And the prep room was clean and had bins to put your personals in while you change into a gown. Seriously I think the tie strings should go in the front, to easily tie. The nurses check, recheck, and then triple check your name and follow up information and why you're there. I informed them "I here for the butt jamming concert." When I quickly got corrected with a laugh, anesthesia quickly followed. Next thing I know I'm waking up, feeling refreshed and clean. Put your cloths on, get escorted to the recovery chair to wait for your ride and off you go. I got nothing to compare this too except when I was on the H.S. football team. I joined as a tight end and got converted to a wide receiver. True story. Overall five stars. Professionals taking care of you. And really it's a health check everyone should do. Jokes aside if you have a family history of colon cancer or at that age, I urge you to get check. Did I feel violated in anyway? No. Was I comfortable the whole time? Yes. Would I do it again? Yep in 10 years as scheduled. Yeah!! Now excuse me, time to put down some food and listen to music. Great Van Morrison's song Brown Eyed.............awww come on!!! M

A year after this has happened they are now trying to come at me again for the same cost and I had to re-fight them through HMSA to send them the first letter that they got, they also consistently send me mail to restock my supplies, even though all of this has happened. it is shameful to think that a company that is built around helping people could be so disgustingly predatory, you are literally better off buying supplies at other places. I hope that people that work there feel shame around what they do to the communities that them for help, "its just a job" is not excuse for this type of behavior.

I was MISdiagnosed there 2 YEARS when I had lymphoma UNDER shrapnel from an Iraq War wound. I was told, "You are getting OLD, and it's an old war wound..." DISSED for 2 YEARS??%$#@! finally, I went outside w/Medicare, got a proper diagnosis, (CANCER in that bone under the 'old war wound'), and referred for treatment-- finally the V.A. got involved because I threatened to go to the press if they didn't take over. The docs at St. Francis radiation center were GREAT. But nothing worked as it's a rare cancer and it didn't respond to radiation, and kept coming back. Finally, with MY research (I'm a retired surgeon) I found a treatment that may work for me and they referred me on after my oncologist AGREED. MAHALO PRES. TRUMP for 'Care in The Community', as we can now go to outside docs if we live far away--and they took me seriously, I got treatment the V.A. doesn't have anyway--and they listened to me, treating me with respect as a fellow doc. PALI MOMI WAS THE LATEST DOC TO SEE FOR BONE SURGERY--a big surgery, a VERY long 18 month recovery=MAJOR. I saw Dr. Aratani, who is highly specialized in ortho and oncology--one of only 2 on island. The only other is my friend @ Tripler but he was deployed so unavailable and he got me in to see Dr. Aratani. She was enthusiastic about my research, said YES--and referred me on to Queens for one treatment before she operates...but PALI MOMI WAS A BREATH OF FRESH AIR. I was pretty lost there as I never go to Aiea, living in Kahalu'u, and it's grown so much all my old landmarks are GONE--but after finally finding it, employees directed me every step of the way as to where to go, what building/floor/etc. OMG! That NEVER happens @ the V.A. I was totally--no lie--slack jawed by the time I got to her office! EVERYONE was so FRIENDLY--and not put on--I mean genuinely friendly, helpful...as my leg HURTS and walking HURTS...so so many folks there offered to help..I am BLOWN AWAY. It is BY FAR, the BEST medical facility I have EVER been in--and after getting wounded, I've had 15 surgeries, multiple scars/shrapnel/debility...etc. I just am very impressed=PERIOD. Much aloha to all you guys!!! Your assist and help was SO appreciated! I've been really down about all this, the time I lost getting treated and where it's at now--needing major surgery, possibly crippled for life...yadayada. But you guys there really cheered me up. He texted me needing a lift from Pali Momi Medical Center (PMMC) to his home just off Kinau Street. PMMC opened its doors in July 1989 and has been servicing Central and West Oahu. It was originally opened as Kapiolani Medical Center at Pali Momi until rebranded as PMMC in 2010. They are conveniently located in Aiea just down the road from Pearlridge Shopping Center. It was my first time here and was impressed with the upkeep of the grounds. Because my friend just had a procedure to the day prior, a hospital staff wheeled him via wheelchair to the pickup/drop off area. I was amazed by the hospital's attention to patient's condition, consideration and service extended. Although the pickup was a fairly quick process, the setback I encountered was leaving. There were 2 parked cars in front of me and it didn't seem the cars would be leaving soon. Furthermore, the right hand lane was too narrow where I couldn't pass them. My only option was to back up and exit via the far left lane. Thank goodness there was no car behind me otherwise I would have been in a standstill. Overall, impressed with my first visit to PMMC, with the exception of their pickup and drop off area. 2026 #60
