I was scheduled for a colonoscopy, and came here for the procedure. I have been here before and they treated me well. Very professional and outstanding services. I came in early, one hour before, and was prep. Dr. Joseph Manlolo, came in and went over the procedure and if I had any questions. Then, the anesthesiologist came introduced herself and I relayed the last experience I had. Again very professional. I went in , fell asleep and woke up in the recovery room. Still groggy, I got dressed and was told to wait in the lobby. I was offered a Hawaiian juice can, and waited for my ride. I also got the results. If you're scheduled for a colonoscopy or endoscopy, have your doctor refer you to this place. High recommended. read more

I had my endoscopy yesterday first thing in the morning, and all I can say is that they exceeded my expectations! I usually get poked a few times because my veins are small, but they made the entire process very comfortable. The anesthesiologist was incredibly kind and accommodated my request so I didn't have to be poked multiple times. She reassured me by saying I wasn't a hard stick--which really helped ease my nerves (even though I usually am!). I also truly appreciate the nurse who prepped me for the procedure; I genuinely felt the care and compassion. And of course, thank you to Dr. Obana for taking such great care of me throughout the procedure. From beginning to finish, they made me feel safe and well cared for. If I could leave a no star review, I would! My father had a scheduled colonoscopy for yesterday afternoon and he did all the prep work and everything for his procedure only to go to his appointment for the front desk to tell him "your insurance isn't covered." Isn't that something the front desk or the office should check before scheduling patients or when confirming patients for their appointments?!?! There was no way he was going to pay out of pocket for this colonoscopy. Having a routine colonoscopy is NOT like going to the dentist for a teeth cleaning. This is not just another cancelled appointment. There is prep work and fasting involved. Most people dread having a colonoscopy due to the infamous drink, but now that he could not get his colonoscopy done on a day that the office scheduled him, he will have to redo the prep work in order to get another colonoscopy. Being a minority, seeking good healthcare has been a headache since I've been on island for the last past 7 years. I went in on yesterday for a procedure. During the entire time I was there no one ever left my side and treated me like they already knew me. Receptionists also have a bad rep for being buttholes but not at Ohana Endoscopy. The anesthesiologist even stayed until I woke up and carried conversation with me to make sure I was doing okay before he left. It was lunch for them but they still didn't rush me out. Just an overall pleasant experience. They always call back and will answer any questions you may have! Chris the RN has taken so much time with me to make sure he read my referral thoroughly and also worked with the Dr to get better understanding. I appreciate a nurse being involved in my overall healthcare needs when it comes to my health. Dr can't do it all and nurses just tent to be better hands on. Just the whole team working together has made everything an awesome experience. Almost forgot Maryson. She did my IV with no issues at all. While reviewing my colonoscopy results they also asked me if my hemorrhoids were bothering me I said "yes, for many years". Knowing how professional my colonoscopy experience was I didn't hesitate and agreed to a minor office procedure to lesson my symptoms. After two office visits my symptoms are not only lessoned, but eliminated! Talk about improving quality of life. I should have done this years ago. Dr. Ona, is amazing! I'm so very happy I found him. He actually listens and lets you talk which is rare, unfortunately. I have been having issues for years and another gastro doctor would have me do colonoscopies, in fact 2! They would come back normal and he'd send me on my way. I was in my early 30's btw. Issues continued and I just dealt with it for a while until I couldn't take it anymore. I decided on Dr. Ona, just based on his little bio he had and I "had a feeling". First appointment I knew he was going to help me. He already knew what my issue was (SIBO) and had me take a test. Came back positive! The staff is very friendly from the telehealth with NP Sean Scully, to scheduling an appointment with Mary, to being greeted on my appointment day by Nora, & going through my procedure with nurses Cristy & Maryson, staff Briana, & Dr Mel Ona. A procedure many do not like to go through (especially the prep prior) but should be done to maintain healthy. Everyone made me feel comfortable & were very pleasant to interact with. Was nervous about my colonoscopy appointment. While waiting I looked up Dr. Mel Ona on Facebook and right away could tell he was the type of doctor who truly takes care of his patients. Then I saw the educational video of his own colonoscopy, being performed by another doctor. This made me feel very comfortable and meeting the staff and doctor in person, I knew we were going to have a good time. .
