Front office is highly unprofessional. I had a family emergency and we had to reschedule my Grandma's appointment so I called and left a message. Didn't get a call until the next day and we agreed on a day 2 weeks out. Then I get a call today saying the business name has changed to San Francisco something and we had 2 no shows so they sent the hearing aids back and they no longer accept her insurance anymore. Ummm....what?? 1st off I called to reschedule... He argued that I didn't call... Really genius?? Then how did I get the other appointment?? And said if I called on Monday there was none there to answer the call, just the doctor. It's not my fault he wasn't there to do his job and it shouldn't have counted as a no show if I informed them earlier. Then says we no showed 3 days ago when I had it down for next week and didn't get any reminders. But the part that really gets me pissed is the fact he said they sent them back. I'm like, already? After 3 days? He said, in a rude manner, I don't know when they sent them but they did and now you have to go somewhere else. I have worked in the medical field at private practices for many years and this is not how you do business. And I can tell the front office help is lazy because many times I have left messages and have not received calls back. Save yourself the trouble and go else where! This is a business that doesn't care if gets your business... Had an appointment this morning, but decided to cancel because of the front desk person. The very first impression she gave was indifference followed by a hacking cough she tried to suppress (not wearing a mask). She walked in from the back room (of an already small office lobby) briefly looked at me, then gave me papers to fill out and started to turn. I asked if the pens were clean since there were no labeled pens and only 2 or 3 in the pen hold can. She said yeah as she was turning away. I forgot my mask and went back out to the car to get it, since they didn't have any available (not sure if a hearing test facility qualifies as a medical facility under the Santa Clara County Health dept.). After coming back in and turning in the form she again only looked at me when getting the forms once, and not again until my misunderstanding of what she said. Ironically I am at a hearing test place and heard her say is that 'butt' for your email; not the best handwriting. Corrected her, but was already agitated by the lack of a welcome and the feeling of indifference (with an extra dose of coughing), and then said why would you say that? Say "butt"? I wait a few seconds and she doesn't say anything. I eventually just go to the restroom. When I get out she said only said "bud". Then says it again, while at least looking at me this time, but now looking a little annoyed. Goes back to looking over the form and without looking at me, asks for my insurance card. I followed my instinct and said I am canceling my appointment. "Ok", looking at me with indifference again. I had to ask for my paperwork so it wouldn't be billed accidently. Once I got it, I started to leave, and mentioned she was coughing/sick. She sarcastically said 'bye'. I came back in and addressed her attitude and about being sick. I am guessing they have so much business it doesn't matter how she treats people, because she just turned and walked away... I left, because I didn't feel at that point I could trust them to do the testing correctly, and really didn't want to find out one way or the other...maybe you will get a different experience if you decide to go there... read more

My two year old needed to have a hearing test done to rule out hearing issues and we were referred to Landmark by our pediatrician. Brandon Cyrus conducted a series of tests and by the end of the appointment, even our cautious and suspicious-of-doctors toddler was giggling and smiling ear to ear. I was so impressed by his gentle and friendly demeanor (I'm sure it's not easy to perform a hearing test on a two year old!). He was able to collect the information he needed efficiently and without any tears from our daughter. :) Would definitely come back if we needed any follow up care. read more

I am Social Worker for a local SNF "Skilled Nursing Facility" a patient of mine was without a hearing aid for almost a month. I called every listed hearing aide repair I could find on google. I asked other SW's from other facilities, to refer there audiologist, no luck. I found Landmark Hearing Services which is down the street from my facility. I can't say enough good things about Landmark Hearing Services. We turned to them for help to get hearing aids for my uncle, who used to be a patient of Stanford clinic in the past. Stanford stopped accepting his 'managed MediCal' insurance, and Landmark was only one clinic left in 15-20 miles radius that offered help. Not only they took care of submitting paperwork for MediCal approval, but they were great in scheduling all required appointments; demonstrating real thoughtfulness and professionalism to get the ideal solution for my 90+years old uncle. I took my father to Landmark Hearing on May 3, 2021. It is over three months and he still has not receive his hearing Aid. No one from Landmark hearing has bothered to follow up on his Hearing Aid. He is 88 years old. How much more time do you need to give this man his hearing Aid? I made multiple attempts to get a hold of someone in the office but they are telling me they are short staff and they are not able to help me. At this time I am seriously considering to cancel the order if any had been made and report the customer /patient care service neglect to the office of Medi-cal. If you are not able to provide quality and timely service to the Medi-Care & Medi-Cal patients your name should be taken off their service center list. read more

I've been to many audiologist for about 49 years since I was 5 years of age. The last great and the real know how to do the job in 1981 because of his retirement. Most specialist did their job within reason but never really understood the depth of how 'hard of hearing' person need to hear. Today's technology have so much to offer but confused my hearing because I'm so used to analogy. I've tried the compression version of noise control and it didn't work for me. One of my hearing aid failed yesterday morning and needed to find a new audiologist and found Landmark Hearing through Yelp with such good ratings. I requested to see Sandra and wanted someone that totally understand my background to fit the right kind of hearing aids for me. My first impression of Sandra was very friendly and receptive to hear about my background and she totally understood my hearing needs. She explained several different options and was looking out for my best interest! It was a breath of fresh air and felt relaxed knowing that she is going to take care of it. If you need hearing devices, Landmark Hearing Services is the place! I recently purchased my fourth pair of hearing devices, two of which are from Landmark Hearing Services. My only complaint is that I wish I met Dr. Sandra Wendschlag when I needed my first pair. I had a bad experience with my second pair from a reputable hospital, and if it weren't my second pair, I wouldn't have had any idea that hearing devices can change your life in an amazing, fun way. And this wasn't fun. The sound was boomy and painful, to the point that they were in my pocket instead of my ears. The audiologist reputedly told me that I needed to retrain my brain and they will eventually work. After eight months of frustration and tears the hospital admitted they sold me the wrong pair and they weren't programed properly. They gave me a refund check. With a great recommendation, the refund check and I drove to Landmark Hearing Services. Landmark Hearing Services is educated on the latest hearing devices, hearing testing, and their customer service is exceptional. Sandra led me to proper devices, and I could hear again. Music sounded marvelous. Helping customers at work was a piece of cake. Wearing the hearing devices became second nature. Six years later I needed new devices. Sandra was excited about a new Oticon product, I purchased them, and they are a dream. Most importantly, Sandra programed them spot on. The sound is clear and pleasant, they are comfortable, and I love wearing them. The best part, they have a Bluetooth feature. I will never hold my iPhone to my ear again. I talk on the phone, listen to music, movies, and TV through my devices. I have a personal volume control and I no longer blast the family out on movie night. I have been a patient since 2008. There was a hearing device that I was interested in, and I didn't want to have to go all the way to UCSF to get fitted. The device in question was relatively new on the market at the time (came out in 2005), and few audiologists had experience fitting patients with it. The manufacturer told me the closest audiologist to me that had experience with this device was in San Francisco. I emailed Landmark Hearing about the device and asked if they would consider fitting me for it. Dr. Wendschlag got back to me right away. She sent away for the info packet and I became her first to fit for that device. ** I would like to add that had I called and emailed audiologists all over Silicon Valley, and they all said they had never heard of the device in question, and no one besides Dr. Wendschlag expressed any interest in finding out more about it. Landmark billed my insurance for my initial hearing test, and that went smoothly. The receptionist got my insurance info when I made my first appointment, and at my first visit she knew exactly what my benefits were. There was no confusion. Dr. Wendschlag does substantial charity work, and for every hearing instrument sold, she allocates a portion of the profits towards charity. She's been involved in building wells in Africa as well as helping those involved with local foster care. Appointments start on time. On Fridays they have a shorter day ( 9-2), but M-Thu is 9-5. They are closed for lunch 12 to 1. The parking can be a challenge during peak hours - it's a shared lot with other medical buildings. read more

I made a stop at Landmark today (no appointment) with my grandmother for her hearing aids which she purchased at Landmark awhile back. We were both extremely happy with the service we received from Heidi, who is the Audiology Assistant at the front counter. We did not have an appointment and we were out of there within 5-10 minutes. Heidi was patient, kind and courteous with my grandmother as she showed her what she was doing wrong. Heidi performed a full routine maintenance on the hearing aids while we were there (saved us from having to make a 2nd trip), and the top it all off she gave my grandmother a special magnetic tool to help her install the tiny little batteries in the hearing aids. Changing the batteries is quite hard for my grandmother at times as her fingers have gotten quite arthritic over the years. We could not believe such a tool existed and are extremely grateful to Heidi for introducing us to this tool as well as her excellent service she gave us! read more

Dr. Sandra Wendschlag was fantastic working with my sister who has Alzheimer's. She fitted her with a lyric hearing aid which got her back to hearing within an hour of seeing her. There was no long term wait of weeks to get a hearing device. My sister was losing her old hearing aid on a routine few month basis and the Lyric system provided her with a system that won't get lost. I have had a fantastic experience with this location. I have worked with Amy who has worked very hard to make sure I find the hearing aids that work best for me. I have trialed 3 very different hearing aids over the course of several months until I found the perfect ones. I found Amy to be very knowledgeable of how the patients actually use the hearing aids, providing very helpful tips, and setting up the hearing aids with fine tuning to my personal needs, in every settings. Landmark was recommended to us back then and we have been well served and have thoroughly enjoyed the relationship we have with the staff that work there. Sandy Wendschlag and Katherine Knowles are the Audiologist and Heidi is the Office Manager. The minute you walk in their clinic you feel a genuine need on their part to be of help. Heidi is so sweet and does everything in her power to make you feel comfortable. Sandy and Katherine are very thorough in their examination and are excellent in explaining the results of the examination in terms that my wife and I can understand. Also, have never felt rushed in their office, have never felt pressured to buy any hearing appliance they might recommend and have always felt their need to be of help were paramount in their minds. I can't think of a more professional and friendly provider than Landmark Hearing. I became a customer of them four years back. I had another provider for nine years before this. Even since the first day, I have been thoroughly satisfied with their level of service. They are very prompt in taking in my hearing aids for repair, in accommodating my appointment requests and in returning the hearing aids as fast as possible. The fact that they process insurance claims is a big plus since many audiologists expect you to do that work! I have had various previous hearing aids from other providers, but was recently drawn to Landmark for a newer revolutionary type aid (Wydex). Based on Previous poor experience from my previous hearing aids at a regular conference I attend, I wanted to attend this weekend with these new type aids. Dr. Wendschlag was kind enough to abort an activity to rush in on her day off to cover for another Dr. who became ill - Clearly above and beyond! She wasn't rushed, but patient and very through in the fitting and setting-up process- very professional. To top it off these new aids seem to be working better than I have ever experienced with any previous brands/models. Today (Friday) my right hearing aid quit working at about 1:30PM and Landmark closes at 2PM on Friday. I called them and described the problem and then drove there in about 5 minuets. Heidi had called the manufacturer and determined it had to be returned with a 10+ day turnaround. She suggested I return both as they were under warranty. She also gave me a new pair loner set and programmed them to my requirements. She also set up my iPhone which controls them and was done before their 2PM closing time. I've been going here since a youngling and am the type of patient who comes in only when needed, i.e. broken hearing aids for whatever reason. I tend to agree that the audiologist is very competent and very helpful. However, there billing practices and statement of costs need MUCH more improvement. I came in with a set of hearing aids that needed to be fitted for myself and was quoted one price. I called to authorize the purchase for the quoted price. I was called back and was told that the price would be increased by an additional $200 per each hearing aid from $295 to now $495. I strongly recommend that in dealing with this company you get everything in writing before authorizing anything. I initially went to them because a friend had recommend them rather than using my own insurance provider which is an HMO. It felt very much like a bait and switch but will say it was just poor business practices. read more
