However, the carrier took forever to update their tracking status which gave me anxiety it would not come in time. It didn't matter if we put it on before cooking, open the doors and windows, or had it on high, my house would still have the smell of food in the air. After being recommended to Pacific by a friend, we decided to go to the store to see what was available. The salesman was extremely helpful and knowledgeable to help us choose the right hood. He demonstrated how well it worked, the cleaning process and compared it to other units in the store. We decided on the range we were interested on and we were able to schedule an installation 2 days later. Some important answers to have when changing your hood: 1. The size of your stove 2. The size of your duct- 4" or 6"? 3. If the duct leads directly to the outside and what direction? 4. If it is under a cabinet or freestanding? Overall, customer service is great and the hood works extremely well. I know because I burnt food I forgot I was cooking and the smell never left my cooking area. Premium price, poor quality, poor customer service Paid premium price (more than $500) to get a range hood (Model PW 2300 BS) from Pacific Hoods. Surprisingly a PC board to control hood light stopped working after one year. Contacted the distributor of Pacific Range Hoods at New York city in order to get a replacement as the hood has a so-called "10 Year Parts Warranty" and broken part is "guaranteed to be replaced for ten (10) years free of charge". After speaking to customer service representative, I had to pay $15 for new part shipment and to deposit $50 to ensure I would mail the broken part to them. Then, waited, waited and waited for about 4 months, finally got a new PC board while they kept telling me no part was available. It's been more than four months I had to cook my family's daily meal, Thanksgiving meal and Christmas meal without a hood light. Very frustrated! Very disappointedly, I had to pay the shipping fee (total about $27) not only to get the replacement but to send them the broken part, which never shows in their warranty policy. This is ridiculous! Pacific hoods just installed the vent hood today so this review is about the purchase and installation experience. I actually went to their showroom on Division Street in Chinatown. The woman there was very helpful and gave me a rundown of the features of their various series. I ended up buying the PR830AS which is part of their economy series. It was one that I could remove the baffle filters and just cleaned them in the dishwasher. I explained my kitchen setup and even took pictures of the existing (poorly done) installation by the apartment's prior owners. Given where I was in the city and the extent of the work, she gave me an all-in price for installation which I liked. Another place in Chinatown was nickel/diming me with transportation, materials, labor, etc. I had a feeling they were likely to tack on more once they were on the job. Anyway, the guy came to install the unit today and did a great job. Take a look at the before and after photos. Aside from the mishap of breaking the lightbulb on the old vent hood that we discarded, it was actually a pretty smooth process. For those reading this who do not speak Mandarin or Cantonese, you will need to find a translator if you decide to use this service. read more
