PIS came through for us during our very difficult time when Dad passed away. Everything was right on schedule and taken care of appropriately. This is a no nonsense kind of buisness. Their rates are very affordable for the service that they provide. The employees we encountered were courteous and professional. They are able to get you the death certificates here. PIS did a great job picking up Dad from the hospital on time and preparing him on the day of his viewing. He looked very peaceful as if he was just resting. Potential tax fraud! Extremely terrible service. Don't go here if you love your passed away family. We came here for my grandma who passed from covid19 Dec 2021 since we were recommended as this was a sudden death cost and this place was said to be CHEAP. Apparently, you get what you paid for. Initially, everything was promised and a pretty picture was painted to getting the tombstone done etc. Fast forward, months later (nearly half a year) POST-burial..we check, and no photo or inscriptions written on the tombstone. We are already going through so much torment during this period. Yet we had to constantly call them asking many times to follow up, and they had the audacity to yell at us, & ignore our calls. Half-done job (months later), and then tell us they don't want to do it anymore and give us some money back. Really? We told them that we need receipts to claim for covid19 burial services, yet its almost been half a year, and they are still ignoring us and so I cant proceed with the claims. Still waiting now, and still getting hung up on the calls by Cynthia Yang (director). Very shady & unprofessional service. Don't come here. They might have some tax fraud going on, so they won't give us proper receipts. Now we are worried about retaliation, yet I believe this is something righteous to do and everyone should be able to see the truth to make a well informed decisions for their loved ones. If I could turn back time, I rather pay double the cost and not come to this place. If I could give this place negative stars, it is what represent their business. I felt the need to write a review on Pacific Interment in Emeryville, California. I wouldn't give them a rating, "no stars" at all! Never patronizing nor refereeing any family to that rip off money grabbing place ever! They took totol advantage of a family that just wanted their Mother attended to and laid to rest~ In speaking with one family member out of state, there was a reasonable price quote, speaking with another family member, from the same family (out of town) and that person was actually paying for the services, the price increased! All the conversations where over the phone & both family members were from out out town! The family was told they couldn't see their loved one, because their loved one was not at that location at the time ( when the body had been there for 3 weeks). The best they could suggest, they would take a picture and charge the family for the photo! The cemetery staff also had a problem communicating with Pacifica Interment, Emeryville as well. The cemetery, Holly Cross, Colma, California is working with the family so that, when the body is brought to the cemetery, at least one family member can see their loved one for closure and to make sure it is their loved one as well as, and that, there is a body and no cremation Who ever heard of being denied seeing your loved one, paying a high cost and no opportunity to make sure you're receiving the services you've paid for? Once the one and only one family member is allowed to see their love one, at the cemetery, hopefully, that will give the family some comfort & closure. I might add, Pacifica Interment was very dishonest, saying the body was not on the premises when a family member went in to bring clothing. The body had been there for three weeks! Please. do not bring your loved ones to this place of very Insensitive staff! If you have had similar experiences, please comment. Pacific Interment Service - Mortuary Services Near Me - San Francisco, California

I do not recommend this place, it is too expensive and mis informative. I planned ahead and was quoted nothing near the amount they wanted. Not a good experience at all. Unfortunately, since this place was already saved as the go to place for my grandmother, I had to go through with allowing them to be of service for my grandmothers cremation as the home she was at refused to allow me time to find a substitute and sent her there without my permission. I had found mannnny affordable places in my area. Thankfully, the home my grandmother was at was "nice" enough to upfront the cost to Pacific interment as it was a surprise amount on pacific interments part. Again I do not recommend this place as there's a lot more affordable options out there that I was able to find but was too time restricted to make the last minute arrangements. The other places covered the exact same services that pacific interment offers and some even provide more!! Edit: Amanda who works at pacific interment is whom I spoke too a while back who was a bit rude when trying to find who gave my family the wrong information and told them they had to purchase an urn and making it seem that it wasn't included (which is a lie) I asked prior. I'm not happy at the impression I have of this place including some staff members. I've recently found out that most of my grandmothers information like her birthday, place she resided at etc. is incorrect which is prolonging this process a lot. This is causing back and forth and I honestly think it's ridiculous! This whole experience has been a complete nightmare. Sorry, if you have to use yelp to figure this one out, but PIS is the most honest and affordable mortuary service. I know unfortunately from experience, 2 years ago my mother in-law passed away. While she passed in peace at home, it was hard to figure out what to do, we went to an local "family" mortuary and while they were nice and professional their prices were very inflated compared to PIS. This year my father in-law passed at hospital, which gave us a little more time to shop around. Pacific interment is the best value in SF. For example you can buy a coffin at Costco for about $950. You pay no extra charges when using PIS if you provide your own coffin. Their basic funeral fee is about $400. (It is all online if you want to check their prices) Family mortuaries on the other hand charge you $2,000 + for basic funeral service if provide a coffin on your own. That charge is just for arranging the funeral. It does not include any of the logistics, like the transfer of the body, hearses, limos, dressing of the body or other variables. They will try to sell you a value menu where they bundle all the itemized service at a discount price, but instead of paying $950 for the exact same Costco coffin the family mortuary charges $4000 and then bundles all the logistic items into a price near the $2000 for the basic charge that included nothing. So using a family mortuary you will be paying a lot more than you need to do. The PIS staff is professional and kind, and they will not pressure you to buy anything, in fact they will let you know what is needed and what is just a way to stuff a morticians pocket. They also sell the same Costco coffin for about $1200 bucks, but will not charge you extra if you buy it directly from Costco. We did end up buying a coffin from CIS, as my wife wanted a wooden one and not the metal Costco one. Was more expensive but she felt it was best for her dad. read more

I've rarely been this impressed with a business! I chose Pacific Interment Service because they were the only such service I could find that actually gave prices online. I did not want to be haggling with salespeople while in deep grieving for my mother. Ryan and PIS really came through for me at a difficult time. Everything was arranged quickly and smoothly and exactly the advertised price, which was very reasonable. Ryan arranged for the transfer and all the paperwork, which I was conveniently able to complete online. He also phoned several times to let me know how things were progressing. Jerrica at the Folsom Street location was especially kind and helpful when it came time to pick up my mother's cremated remains. My experience with Ryan and Jerrica and Pacific Interment Service was the best. read more

As I was searching for a mortuary I soon discovered that most, if not all, were owned by large corporations and very expensive. Pacific offered a strightforward and economical alternative. I delt with the owner who was genuine and knowledgeable. I was able to witness the cremation at their local facility in Emeryville which offered great piece of mind. We had a good experience with PIS when my father died -- very professional and respectful. It was a disaster though with my mother. I sent the owner a letter outlining my concerns and she never gave me the courtesy of a reply. Here are some of the things I said in the letter. You employees were rather abrupt and callous in their manner of interacting with people who had just lost a loved one. Rather than checking in with the family's desires about witnessing the removal process, we were told "this will be rather inelegant and we recommend that the family leave the room." Our mother's body was rather sloppily wrapped in her sheets, roughly transferred from her deathbed to the gurney, and the covering improperly placed over her remains. While the sheet-wrapped body was securely fastened for transport, the green exterior covering was placed over the straps rather than being held in place by them, allowing the cover to repeatedly slip off the body exposing it to view. Your employees parked their van on the street in front of the apartment building rather than in the garage, took the body through the lobby, and bounced the gurney down the building entryway's staircase, the cover fluttering up the whole way. When a family member accompanying the remains out to van asked your employees to please be more careful in respecting the privacy of the deceased by not allowing her remains to be visible during transport, she was told that "it doesn't make any difference to the deceased." While of course that's true, it is also true that the family's feelings, and their desire to show respect to their parent in how they allow her remains to be treated, be taken into consideration. Family members who viewed the body and attended the cremation were distressed to observe that one of our mother's earrings was missing. The affront here is not that a material object has gone missing, but in the evidence its absence offers that you did not handle our mother's remains with the care and respect that we ourselves would have taken. No one ever wants to think about the death of a loved one, but the last thing you want is for the practical decisions to be made even more overwhelming. I had contacted another highly reviewed cremation service first as my Mom wanted to be cremated and got this horrible feeling and impression. Not only could I not get just a straightforward quote, I felt like this other company was trying to up sell me on the phone, from the type of urn they wanted me to pick to the 'use of their staff', etc, where they were giving me line item after line item and then telling I needed to file legal papers, etc. As if you want to deal with a sales pitch when you're grieving or someone else making things more complicated than you could deal with at the moment. I hung up with the other company and contacted Pacific Interment and it was like night and day. When I asked about costs on the phone for a basic cremation (as my Mom wanted her ashes scattered), Mary Ann immediately gave me a price and told me that included everything but the death certificates as that was a county charge and gave me a run down on what 'everything' meant, so I knew nothing was getting left out. There is an additional charge (2%) to use a credit card, which they tell you upfront too, but it was still significantly cheaper than the other company, plus I didn't get that nauseous feeling like I did from that other company that made me feel like they were trying to take advantage of my grief. The forms on the website were easy to fill out and when I had questions on what to fill out on certain forms and sent an email, Zia and Thomas replied quickly, so I was able to get all the paperwork done in probably less than an hour. PI also filed all the paperwork for me and all in all, removed the stress and worry from that task.
