Review Last Saturday, March 14, 2026 was my mom's funeral service. What should have been a time for grieving and honoring her turned into chaos, stress, and complete disappointment. I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's start from the beginning On January 31, 2026, me, my wife and father met with Ed (funeral arranger) and Arlene (planning counselor). The meeting went well. We spoke about the basic stuff like, date of service, prayer cards, flower arrangements, and priest etc etc. We were going to use my mom's life insurance  to pay for everything. Since my mom died out of the country, we already knew the life insurance will take longer to process. None of us thought it would be a problem but boy was I wrong.  Probably a week later, Ed and Arlene informs me that we can not continue with the service due to the delay of the life insurance. Original date of mom service was February 21, 2026 but we had to change it. At the time it was TBD cause we didn't know when they were going to get the life insurance. For about 2 weeks, Ed and Arlene would call and ask me , in a nice way, if I was able to pay out of pocket. They both asked a few times for those 2 weeks. To ask if I can pay out of pocket is crazy to me.  On February 26, 2026, the life insurance went through so we paid for the niche, service and secured a date for service , March 14,2026  On March 8, 2026, I went to drop off my moms urn so they can transfer her urn to the cypress urn   From February 26. 2026 til March 13, 2026, I haven't heard from Ed in regards with the service or anything . Even though in the beginning they were hounding me about how to pay for the service  On March 9, 2026 I texted Ed to check in and asked if everything was ready to go for Saturday. I asked if prayer cards, priest, and  were good?. I even asked if someone will be at the Pavilion Chapel at 830am so we can set up. His only response was "yes someone will be at 830am"  On March 13, 2026 I called Ed to ask about what type of table cloth I should buy for the tables. He then decides to ask me how i would like to set the seats and tables. He caught me off guard because I was not prepared on how to answer that question and I was wondering why would he asked me that the day before the service . Wouldn't he have asked that weeks prior? The service was scheduled from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with the burial at 12:30 PM. We arrived around 8:20 AM. When I returned at 9:00 AM, I was told my mom's urn wasn't even there. Let that sink in, the most important part of the service was missing. I spoke with Paul and Andre, who were assigned to us, and Paul told me they thought we were bringing it. That was completely false. I personally dropped it off a week prior with Arlene. I then called Ed and he repeated the same excuse. The lack of communication was unbelievable and inexcusable. It took about 20 minutes into the service before my mom's urn finally showed up. While dealing with that, I found out my daughter had been handed a flower arrangement. As she tried to place it on the table, where my mom's urn should have been, Paul made a comment to her instead of helping. No compassion, no awareness, just unnecessary remarks to a grieving child. It didn't stop there. My wife and brother in law had to set up the refreshment tables themselves. They asked Andre if they could move two tables, and he said yes, but didn't lift a finger to help. Why is the grieving family doing the work? Why are we the ones setting up on the day we're supposed to mourn? Throughout the service, I had to repeatedly ask for basic necessities such as chairs, water bottles, and tissues. There were elderly guests standing, and no one thought to bring out more seating. Several years ago, I got the lettering on my parent's stone refinished at a local monument nearby which was nicely done. Fast forward to earlier this year when I noticed that the base and stone had settled in the dirt in which it was leaning to one side. Since I was at the gravesite, I stopped by the office providing a picture and after taking my information they stated that Groundskeeping would be notified and it would be be completed within 7-10 days. Sure enough I received a call stating the work had been done within the time frame and since I was out of town asked if they could send me a picture of the work which they did within minutes. My late-Aunt left instructions in her will that we should visit this place. Cypress Lawn is a beautiful well maintained cemetery. Although it's not as nice as a national cemetery, it's a lovely place and offers wide roads and paths. We visited a mausoleum. The place was peaceful and well kept. Then we went out to visit a gravesite. The lawn was thick and had some ruts. I spotted some graves of veterans, and I left coins and brushed off their headstones. Rest in Peace read more

Always loved coming here as a kid to feed the ducks old bread. Has always been a tradition in my family. The road can be a little "dirty" so watch where you step when throwing the bread to the ducks. We had my dad's services & reception at the Tiffany Chapel on 6/3 and it was a beautiful send-off. Part of the great experience we had was the staff. Sadie, the Funeral Arranger, listened to our needs and vision, she made it happen. She was very patient with us and made us feel comfortable during this difficult time. Coco, the Advance Planner Counselor, was very detailed and nice. She helped find a great niche spot for my dad. Regarding the day of the services, we had 3 great coordinators; Eva, Nicholas, and James. They were amazing throughout my dad's services/reception. They helped with anything we needed at the chapel and the reception area, they were very kind to our guests, and most of all, made our family feel welcome. Cypress Lawn did a wonderful job with everything related to my father's burial. From the first day, our concierge (Coco) helped us plan all the details. There are so many things to take care of and consider, but Coco took the time to walk us through everything. We picked a beautiful plot location and burial headstone on the first visit. Over the next year or so, we made many requests and changes. Coco was kind enough to accommodate them all at a reasonable price. When it came time for the funeral, Coco and her team were amazing. We had a beautiful service at one of their historic chapels right near my father's burial plot. Our guests had a great experience. Everything at Cypress is well taken care of and beautiful. Their attention to detail is second to none and staff is very attentive. My family is so grateful that my father is well taken care of and buried in such a respectful place. This review is a bit tardy for I was in need to find the right words to describe my experience in having had the pleasure to work with Carlo, Olga, Eddy, James, Robert, Bella, Silvio, and the caretakers who made sure that my Meemeng's visitation and funeral were handled in the utmost professionalism and empathy. The recent passing of my Memeng left a gigantic mark and was on my own to face this daunting task to lay her to rest. I sat alone in the conference room when I met with Carlo who meticulously explained the details of the funeral packages and with Olga who patiently walked me through the cemetery arrangement. It was not easy to be yet again in this process 20 years after my Tatay's passing but felt at ease and had confidence that the arrangement will be coordinated and handled accordingly with sympathy and care. I worked with Ms.Guzman to make arrangements for my husband's funeral July 2025. At first she couldn't find a date/time slot since I chose not to use their mortuary services. Then things changed. She found a date that coordinated with the funeral home and was willing to help to make this go smoothly. She said she would be present the day of the funeral, blah,blah. The day comes we drive up and no one is there to meet us. A kind gardener stopped to help us and guide us to the burial ground. The funeral home lead the entire burial as no one from Cypress showed up. I went to the offices the next day and after the can got kicked several times it turns out Ms.Guzman went on vacation and didn't leave anyone assigned to my services. Their solution, offer me a bigger headstone/marker. They didn't have her apologize or anything. I will never work with her again. If you have any need for their services look for Sioeli Moala as he did a fabulous job cleaning up Guzman's negligence. read more

I didn't look forward to the meeting at the funeral home but it was something I must do. I was waiting for Linda, the funeral director, the door opened and she entered with a warm, empathic smile that put me immediately at ease. She was well prepared for the two hour informative meeting. She broke the programs down to digestible sizes so I can follow. During that long meeting, she didn't take advantage of the situation by selling pricey products to me. Through Linda's help, we were able to produce a memorable video with a beautiful seamless ceremony. The job of a funeral director isn't easy, working with people at their saddest moments. We went to Cypress Lawn memorial Park to apply a burial permit and pay the remaining balance for my son who passed away recently. Ms. Lily Yu, Advancing Planning counselor, received me. At first, she expressed sincere condolences to me, making me feel relieved. In my mind, these procedures are very complicated and tedious. Lily is very warm, patient and answered my concerns in detail. Lily is knowledgeable. The relevant documents were completed in an orderly and efficient manner. The inscription was finalized. Lily showed great respection to the funeral and burial customs of our own ethnic group. At the end of the reception, her department manager, Mr. Yu and Lily accompanied me to the main entrance and said to me " please accept our deepest sympathies, take good care of yourself!". Recently a family member was failing. No plans had been made. I reached out to a number of service providers, including Cypress Lawn in Colma. I made clear that we were expecting a death that day or the next. The quote I received included, in very bold red print, urgent encouragement to contract right away, as the discounts indicated would not apply should the death occur before the contract was settled. They were the only company, among the five I contacted, that in any way tried to rush the arrangements. Or had a 'pre death discount' on offer. It seemed particularly tone deaf since we were clearly in an unexpected situation, and while dealing with the medical issues, settling on and contracting with a service provider was not at the VERY top of our punch list. Additionally their pricing was MUCH higher than any of the other alternatives we reviewed. We did not use their services. This review only covers the initial contact for information. read more

It's never a fun topic in discussing this line of business. But, being a business, it is appropriate to share opinions about the service that they provide in mostly sorrowful circumstances. After losing a family member a little over a month ago, I needed their services in providing a restful place and celebration of life for my departed relative. From start to finish, the staff here were on point in helping me and my family minimize the stress involved in such an emotional time. The first and main engagement was with Thomas Chiu who reached out to me the day after in getting things started. I made an appointment to meet at the mortuary later in the week with a friend to complete all of the arrangements including the service and other necessary details that needed to be confirmed and done. Over the next four weeks, we worked together along with a couple of family friends and relatives to put together the service, burial, and post service meal. I did not know about Cypress's Viewologies and streaming and recording capabilities for services. Thomas also helped arrange the program printing and coordinated the prep for the musicians for the day of the service. Do ask when you prepare for your service. Big thanks to Eva at the service and burial, another director who guided us through the event and adding many touches and traditions consistent with our family's Chinese and Catholic beliefs. If you want to be disrespected and ignored in times of need and crisis, then choose Cypress. Places like these know they are NEEDED by people who are at their most vulnerable and in their times of need. They take full advantage of this. When my loved one passed away, I unfortunately chose this place. I was ignored for hours when I had an urgent matter and question for my funeral arranger. No answer to text, calls, or emails for hours and some times even days. Not even a "can I please call you back" or a simple text saying I'll get back to you. Nothing. Shows you how much they care. They couldn't care less. Becky Chan should be avoided at all cost. She is unsympathetic and couldn't care less about you. Poor communication throughout the whole thing. As long as you paid, she knows you're hooked in. Not like you can get a refund lol. We were treated like another business transaction and money grab. Get our money and move on to the next one. Unfortunately, there's no shortage of people dying right? Unfortunately, everything cost money. Even death. This place has people that work here that show 0 respect or sympathy. You're literally just a $ to them. Businesses like these are monopolies and they dam well know it. They take full advantage of people's most vulnerable times like when a death of a loved one occurs. Our consultation with the staff didn't start off well. We were provided misinformation which delayed the process for us. However, we soon as Sabrina took over, we had the best experience. She was very kind and took care of our needs, furthermore, they were every professional from beginning to end. The only caveat here is if you're looking for cremation services, the time is very limited. We had to shorten our services to fit within the timeframe and it was super early in the morning so planning for it was a bit difficult for us. Overall, wonderful services and we highly recommend them for our loved one services. read more

Tiffany, the lady in charge of the services, has lost the paper of all my grandpa's information and ghosted us through all forms of contact (phone call, text, and email). My family went into the office to find out what was going on Jan 2025, she was unapologetic, and said this will all be handled within 4 weeks. Great service for my sister. Everything was put together very well, and the time allotted allowed everyone to properly say goodbye. I'm not exactly sure what the timeframe was given to family and friends, but there weren't any issues. I didn't feel things were rushed, the staff were more than accommodating. After the indoor gathering, we were able to release doves outdoors which was a special touch. Across the street appeared to be a very beautiful area for those to lay at rest. read more

He was very patient with my mother who speaks English as a second language and has difficulty walking from a bad knee but in spite of all that, William was a kind and patient guy who exudes and demonstrates a precious sensitivity with little or no effort. We had a death in our family. My oldest uncle passed away recently. So, we were in town for this sad farewell. We went up to the dining room, located on the second floor, which looked like a wedding reception room to me. It was very nice, circular round tables with black tablecloths, floral arrangements in the middle of each table. I was very surprised at how nice it was. There were two counters to place the food. The hot foods were placed on the main one, facing the tables, while the desserts, drinks, plates, etc. were on the other counter, which was to the side. The bathroom is also on the second floor. There are two stalls in the womens bathroom. There is a big parking lot. The viewing was friday, 11/17/23, from 5-9, inside the Tiffany Chapel (water is allowed, but no food is allowed), the lower level. Before entering, I signed the book. I've been to many viewings before but this was the first time that there was a mass. The priest was very good. It was very touching. And then it was time to hear the words and stories from family members and some of the grandchildren (there are eleven), which was beautiful. I ran out of tissue. But on the end of each row, there is a box of tissue. Uncle looked very peaceful and was wearing a Barong Tagalog. The important thing to remember is that he is no longer suffering. While we are all sad but it is a comfort to know that he is now with Auntie and the rest of all of our relatives who have passed away, over the years. And he saw, from the other side, all of us together to celebrate his life. We did get one last time to see him before we left the facility. A big THANK YOU to all of the staff at Cypress.
