We LOVE PNW dermatology. Our son has always gotten quality care through dermatologist Tory Foss. We have him seen yearly, and I'm always more than satisfied every time. This office goes out of their way to find each possible source for diagnosis, intervention, and if needed medication. My son is not a fan of doctors or their offices, but it has been extremely easy by nature to bring him here due to their friendliness, patience, and professionalism. Beware. Do not go here! We booked my daughter an appt to see a dermatologist for her severe acne and skin issues, when we booked the appt, we put down her primary insurance which is regence blue shield through Boeing. We even exchanged text messages with a gal named Mary CONFIRMING they can see her with her insurance. Never once did we mention she had state insurance as her SECONDARY insurance. They called the day of her appt and left a message saying they were cancelling her appt because they didn't take state insurance. I called right away and the first thing I askedbthe receptionist was, "do you take regence blue shield through Boeing?" The gall on the phone said "yes we do." I said "ok, well my daughter who has regence blue shield had an appt today that you cancelled this morning and you reason was 'you don't take her insurance'." She looked up her appt and proceeded to tell me it was cancelled because they don't take state insurance. Um ok, that's fine, because that is her SECONDARY insurance, that insurance was never mentioned when booking the appt. So how did her secondary insurance even factor in? And you aren't even billing that insurance, you are billing her PRIMARY insurance! The gal was incompetent in understanding the difference between primary and secondary insurance and just kept saying over and over, we can't see her because we don't take state insurance. They went out of their way to look it up and cancelled her appt for having a secondary insurance they don't take! Her primary insurance is regence blue shield and that's the insurance that was given to them. Clearly this place is NOT a good place to go! They deliberately look for state insurance so they can turn them away. read more

I tried to book a skin cancer consultation but was denied the appointment because they think I am on Medicaid. I am not, I get my health insurance through the Exchange because I don't work for an employer who offers health insurance. I offered and can pay up front, but was denied even an appointment. That is literally illegal for them to deny me on that ground. read more

Billing services are horrible. They have 2 sides to practice, the dermatology side and the aesthetics side. I prepaid for all my services in cash on the aesthetic side (over $1,000) and when I got to my appointment they said I could not be seen until I paid my small balance on the dermatology side. This is considered an unfair business practice. read more

After months of researching my skin condition, I finally booked with a dermatologist, a supposed professional with years of experience. I drove over 30 minutes, paid for the visit, and then watched my doctor pull up ChatGPT to look up photos and put in a description of my symptoms- the exact same thing I had already done at home. Absolutely insulting. A total waste of time and money. If I wanted someone to Google my symptoms, I could've stayed home. How is this acceptable from a medical professional? She should have been able to diagnosis me with her eyes and brain not her CELL PHONE. Everyone I've told is just as shocked as I am. read more

Just want to say how pleased I am with my experience at Pacific NW Dermatology and my provider Taylor Hall. I have seen Taylor for three appointments and have had excellent success with my treatment. Taylor was quick to determine what needed to be done and to begin treatment immediately. And without the use of prescription drugs which has been the usual remedy with previous providers. Taylor has never left me waiting for long periods in the exam room, seems to always be happy and in a good mood and has a vey gentle presence in the exam room, which is so appreciated for people like me that don't really care for dr. visits. I normally go to Dr. Cassler, and I am very happy with her. She is personable, has good clinical judgment, and has never kept me waiting for an appointment; in fact, she is often ahead of schedule. She had to be out of town today, so my 8:30 AM appointment to freeze a lesion in a multi-step procedure was scheduled with Katie, a nurse practitioner. I arrived at 8:20, was checked in at 8:25, and sat until 9:00 without being called. At least 10 people arrived after I did and were seen before me. When I asked, they said Katie was "running behind." When I was finally called, the nurse/technician was looking at her phone when she said, "How are you today?" I replied, "Not good, I've been waiting more than half an hour." She laughed and said, "Oh, well." When I said that I didn't like her dismissive comment nor her laughter, she said, "We're very busy and understaffed." That, of course, does not explain how they managed to see 10 people in front of me, nor how they had time to have food delivered--twice--during that time period. When I finally saw Katie, she was friendly, and she froze the lesion, but she pretty clearly had not read my chart. I hope somebody at Pace Dermatology will address this issue. It is not acceptable for medical staff to laugh at patients, nor to keep them waiting for no apparent reason without explanation. read more

I recently had an experience with Dr. Andy Pace's office that I feel compelled to share. My coworker recommended I get a mole on my face checked and suggested Dr. Andy Pace. Recognizing the potential seriousness of a changing mole, I decided to follow through with the recommendation. However, the journey to actually see Dr. Pace was fraught with frustration. I first contacted the office on 4/18/24 and left a message detailing my concern. No response. I called again on 4/23/24 and 4/24/24, each time unable to get ahold of anyone but receiving no reply. Finally, on 4/25/24, I spoke to a staff member named Jessica, who scheduled me for an appointment with Dr. Andy Pace on 7/3/24 at 9:40 AM. Despite the long wait, I accepted the slot, eager to get a professional opinion. I made it clear I wanted to see Dr. Andy Pace only. This morning, after hearing from Sandy at the clinic that there was an opening with Dr. Andy today, I called back to secure it, but the appointment was not available. Jessica then said there was an opening tomorrow and confirmed an appointment for the next day at 9 AM, leading me to believe it was with Dr. Pace. However, later that afternoon, I received a message stating my appointment had been switched to Dr. Pace's physician assistant. I was confused. When I called to address the mix-up, Jessica informed me Dr. Pace was fully booked and my original appointment was no longer available. She did not explain why I was switched over to Dr. Pace's physician assistant. I was furious and I requested to speak to a manager, who insisted there was no note about my preference to see Dr. Pace, despite my clear communication during the initial scheduling. The manager almost claimed it was my fault, repeatedly stating there was no note about my preference for Dr. Pace. I argued that I made it clear I wanted to see him and that's why I was willing to wait for over two months. She did not explain why I was switched to Dr. Pace's physician assistant either and kept saying there was no note about my preference. The manager suggested I could be put on a waiting list, but as a full-time employee, I can't afford to take time off for an uncertain appointment. The entire ordeal, including being on hold for over 40 minutes, was incredibly frustrating. In the end, I decided to seek care elsewhere. Reading other reviews, it seems my experience is not unique. I hope my review helps others to be aware of the scheduling and communication issues at Dr. Andy Pace's office. If you value timely and clear communication, you might want to consider other options. read more

Pacific Northwest Dermatology: AKA, PNW I'm sure no one will read this comment but it has to be said. My last appointment with Dr. Andrew pace was very disappointing. I was placed in a very large sparse room with bright lights. His PA asked the preliminary questions and told me to undress to my shorts which I did. I told her it was cold in the room and she brusquely said he will be in in a while and quickly left the room. She did not offer me a blanket, a gown or anything to Cover with. I felt very vulnerable and at the mercy of any one who could come in. I waited almost 15 minutes before the doctor showed up. Dr. Pace is a very nice person and very likable though I was very disappointed. This was to be my yearly exam which meant he should go over all of my skin to see if there's any problems. This is he did not do. (he asked me if there were any problems, I think it was his job to see if there were any) He was also to check a spot on my nose which had been noticed by a previous PA six months before. I also mentioned this to the current PA, I think her name was Heather. He never looked at it even though I had asked his current PA about it. His examination took less than seven minutes. (his PA spent more time with me than did he). He did not check my face, arms, hands, chest area, thighs or legs. He had me stand and glanced at the back of my legs. Nor did he examine my nose, something he was alerted to a year ago. This was not a complete yearly examination. The only thing he did do was freeze a tiny spot on my forehead. I have the distinct feeling that he felt that it was a waste of time for him to treat a man who is eighty thee years old. I've never been treated this way by any Doctor. When I first saw Dr. Pace over a year ago, I was so impressed by his professional diligence and his personality. This last meeting was a complete shock. As a retired attorney I've always dealt with professional people. This was absolutely humiliating. I predict that if he continues to treat older people this way, his practice will suffer. I will never return to this practice. I have already contacted another dermatologist in the area to complete the exam he should have done. read more

I went into this place per the referral of my general practitioner. I needed general dermatology, not anything fancy. They prescribed me a topical cream that required a pre-authorization from my insurance company. They ignored my calls and the pharmacy for over 3 weeks and I had to call 5 times before they returned my call only to tell me that they do not do preauthorizations for topical treatments. I don't think this is a good practice for a dermatology office. They did not seem too concerned with patient satisfaction or experience. The whole thing was a bit off and felt like they never really cared that I was there at all. I am probably not the kind of patient that they want. But I wish they would have just told me that in the beginning, I would have gone somewhere else and saved us all the trouble. read more

It has been 10 months since they initiated treatment via the use of a medication they knew would require prior authorization from the insurance company. Since this time, I have had to hound them and the insurance company. At one point Pace Dermatology would not return my call so I had to make an appointment to be seen ONLY to ask what the status was on the prior authorization documents that the insurance company was requesting. The young woman helping with prior authorizations, Danielle, is nice, but must be overworked at her job. Ultimately if you want anything done, file a complaint with the state medical board - or see a competent practice. read more

My husband went there today, and I read a prior review, which unfortunately is mirroring her experience with a prescription! I called my insurance and they were more than willing to expedite the prescription. So I called on my husbands behalf, to provide the information my insurance company gave me. NEVER A PROBLEM FOR COSMETIC Procedures-- I see Lisa Brooks, Master Esthetician for lashes and facials regularly and haven't had one bad experience yet. She is incredibly talented in lashes and hydro facials and all the other cosmetic stuff I've had performed. I get compliments from strangers on my procedures all the time! She is licensed, very well trained and takes continuing education to keep current in her practice. When I get compliments, I always ask: "Why aren't you going to see her?" And--Although I have had weird experiences with Pace's office voicemail, phone tree and trying to navigate to a live person for booking appointments in the past, this is not a reflection of Lisa. I would agree that the office has made some weird front office staffing choices at both locations and their phone system needs improvement as it's confusing. read more

Shelley and her team are nothing short of amazing! She treated a skin condition that three doctors misdiagnosed. I have since gone back for Botox. She was conservative the first round, giving me the option of adding more. I appreciated that. Every time I see her, we have a great time. I saw Lisa for the first time, last night, for a chemical peel. She was enjoyable to talk with and considerate in asking about my level of discomfort. The only thing I'd change is her table. It's not the most comfortable, but I'm not sure that's something she can change. Hopefully, the office manager will read this and provide the patients with a more comfortable place to lay down while in her care. I will continue to go to Pace as long as Shelley and Lisa are there. read more

I called to make my first appointment and the wait time was 3 weeks out, with the option of two locations. I chose the location that was closer of course, and it was a couple extra days longer of a wait, but it was easier to get to. I received the new patient paperwork in the mail a week later and noticed it was for the wrong location. I called and they confirmed. The next available appointment for the preferred location was now an additional month away, so I chose to stay. Then a few days before my appointment, they called to cancel because the provider was not in the office, but they could get me in the next appointment 5 weeks away. They cancelled on me, but I have to keep getting pushed out. I cancelled and chose to go with a different practice that doesn't have this track record. read more

I left feeling like I was barely looked at, was rushed in and out of there, and that I did not at all have my concerns addressed. I also felt that her medical-assistant was condescending and busily typing away on her computer during the whole time I was there. I value the medical services here and have always received good care. Unfortunately, their billing department consistently messes up and the services have to be resubmitted to the insurance company. They have had to resubmit services three years in a row. Most recently I am stuck paying for something that my insurance company said was paid. So I consider that a scam. read more

So I had an appointment for a full skin check. I got this appointment after having a couple of growths removed from my back. I waited about 4 months for the full check up and on the day I was to go in I was feeling very sick so I rescheduled for 3 weeks later. The thing that got me about the check up was that it lasted about 3 minutes. One lady took me to an exam room and checked me in, handed me a folded up paper robe and instructed me to leave my socks and underwear on and put the robe on so it was open in the back. I got down to socks and underwear and was trying to figure out how to open and use the robe when both women knocked and opened the door. I was not dressed but figured what the hell, they are going to be looking me over rather completely anyway so I didn't say much. This is where it went south, so to speak. The woman doing the check up spent about 2 minutes if that, doing my FULL skin exam. She found one spot on each hand and sprayed freezing compound on them, then she saw one spot on my face and one on my chest and sprayed those. Then she went behind me and pulled the elastic back on my underwear and said that I was fine there. She then terminated the visit. I asked her about the red spots on my face around my hairline and on her way out the door said, Oh, I'll call in a prescription for some cream, and she was gone. I am guessing since the Veterans Administration sent me there that they probably pay a lot less than most insurances do. When I called PACE a few days later to ask how much time I should allot myself for such a procedure they told me between 30 to 60 minutes. Now, for the real topper to this letter, one of the spots she sprayed on my right hand was Healthy living tissue that is now just starting to heal from the frost burn. I would not recommend this medical facility to anyone. They are in to much of a hurry to do an efficient job. read more

I went here a couple weeks after my mom and during my appointment I told my Dr "you have my mom so scared for her next appointments" since she was told she'd need a lot of stuff cut out of her face. The dr responded with oh it's just a little procedure by her eye... I said I didn't know she needed anything by her eye I thought it was on her forehead. She asked me to tell her my moms name and phone number and then read me her whole chart. I could tell the medical assistant was uncomfortable doing this and my mom was so mad when I told her because I knew more about her diagnosis then she had. Major HIPAA violation! They also messed up billing and won't fix it. Scheduled for an appointment I told them I wouldn't be able to make one time then charged me a $40 no show fee. Even after I called a week before because I had a scheduling conflict and waited on hold for 25 minutes and the receptionist never canceled it. They don't care about being good health providers they care about making money. read more

Service is great, but policies are flawed. My insurance requires a prior authorization for certain medications. Pace Dermatology is an in-network provider and will not do these. This means that a medication that would cost me $10 with my insurance will cost $80. They have GoodRX cards everywhere so I'm not sure if they are refusing to do prior auths because they are in a deal with GoodRX. It seems ridiculous to accept insurance for an appointment but can't just fill out a form and fax it to insurance when it comes to the actual treatment, especially when on their phone tree options they have a prior authorization team (although they never answer and the mailbox won't let you leave a message). Will be seeking a dermatologist that actually cares about patients receiving the treatment that they prescribe and will be filing a complaint with the Office of the Insurance Commissioner. read more

I had a scheduled appointment made by them 4 weeks ago and when i arrived they did not have me scheduled in, there was no one in the waiting room and 4 doctors or assistants standing there shooting the shit with nothing to do and they refused to see me, this was just to renew a prescription that they wouldn't renew over the phone, (I had to come in) I was a patient of there's for 3 years, I don't have time for incompetence that I'm paying for. read more

Very quick patient turnaround, was never given more than 20 minutes of their time. For my skin, they told me that once the medications stopped working, there was only expensive solutions that unlikely would be covered by insurance. When I went in due to some trouble with my feet, they took one look and said that I'd just have to live with it. And I believed them. Until I saw a podiatrist. When I told him what happend, he said (and I quote): "Don't get my wrong, I'm glad you're here and that I can help you, but who would know better than what's going on with your skin than a dermatologist?!" One other review talked about how they felt like "part of the herd". If you're seeking quality attention and medical advice, seek treatment elsewhere. Save yourself the misery and hassle. read more

Dr. Shelley Velickoff is one of the worst dermatologists I've seen. I started going to her because my old derm had moved away. I went in with the concern of face acne. I've been seeing a dermatologist for over a decade due to eczema and acne. Shelley, unlike other derms, did not ask me to remove my makeup to see my skin well or use a light/magnifying glass to see past the makeup. Every derm i've seen had asked me to do this for the first couple visits so that they get to see and know the behavior of my skin. She took me off my oral medication and prescribed 2 topical creams. My sister and coworker both started seeing her and we realized that she has us all on the same regimen even though our skin and acne is very different. After almost a year of seeing her I decided to stop going because my skin had gotten so bad and she wasn't helping whatsoever. Now, a month and a half later of starting my own skincare routine, my skin looks 10x better than when I was seeing her. Don't waste your money paying her to make your skin worse. read more

I would not recommend this clinic. The doctors and staff there seem to be rushed, impatient, and careless and do not take the time to properly diagnose their patients. I was given a prescription for an antibiotic to treat "papules" or red bumps on my face, despite the fact that I have never had any papules on my face. Apparently the doctor had simply assumed that there were papules without ever asking me if I'd had them. The doctor also told me that my Rosacea would "never go away" and that none of the medications that had been prescribed for me would treat the redness. When I asked her why she had prescribed the medications for me in the first place if they did not treat my symptoms, she changed her mind and told me I didn't need them after all. read more

A few years ago, I had a terrible experience here. The medication I was given, was on my list of allergies and gave me a chemical burn and now scarring in my face. When I called to let them know what happened, the doctor hung up on me. I needed to go back to a clinic for another matter recently, and this group was recommended. I decided to give it another go thinking that maybe if I saw another doctor things would be better. The receptionist has called me three times to go over information that was already provided and I have yet to even make it to the clinic. I am hoping this is just one more bad apple in the bunch and the other doctor will be worth the hoops you have to jump through. read more

I read all the negative reviews here about the doctors themselves such as spending minimum time with their patients, hardly listening to the patients, etc. which I tend to agree based on my own experience. However, I have the most positive experience with the lady who does the laser therapy (Sarah) in their office. She is very helpful and kind. So if you need laser treatments for your skin, Sarah is the person whom you want to deal with. read more

I have visited this medical office enough times to finally understand that either because of ignorance, incompetency or sheer attitude (or all), nothing was going to be done for me. When asked to have less than complicated procedures done (told 'simple' by other dermatologists) I basically got the deer in the headlights look and they even mentioned they would 'leave a big ole' scar' if tried it (yikes!). I requested a Rx for an on-going condition that I usually get enough for many applications (a year's worth) and they wrote the Rx for 'one' application and when I asked why I was told they would need to see me again if I wanted more. I had just seen them a few days before! So, obviously I saw they were absolutely going to hold the medication hostage until they received their ransom; Pay for one office appointment (which they know is out of pocket for me) and get one dose, etc. When I looked on line to reviews for them; YIKES! (again). I am sure we all know by now that when you see 90+% one or two star ratings and a (very) few 5 (not 3 or 4) star ratings we know just 'who' wrote the good ones especially when that review answers to the specific bad one's (defensively). Easiest advice I ever could give; do not waste your time (or your blood pressure!). read more

I actually like Dr Pace (I take my mother there). But--he only sees one new Medicare patient a week: so if you have a problem and just happen to have passed that magical age of 65, beware. Normally I would not mind a near 2 month wait--but I needed to see someone quickly and the real frustration was that had I been younger I could have seen him sooner! He had openings!!!! Medicare is far from perfect---and even with supplemental insurance the doc's reimbursement is less than it would normally be. So part of me doesn't blame the doctor. Another part thinks his rules a tad rigid if a patient really had an emergency. Exceptions could have been made. The receptionist did say I could have seen the doctor had I wanted to pay the full bill myself, by the way--so it must be all about money here...And the age/insurance discrimination was very upsetting. Luckily I found a doctor who didn't discriminate and who could see me ASAP due to a cancellation! Phew! read more

I just cannot praise this place enough! I've dealt with psoriasis all my life and Dr pace was dead on in my treatment plan. It's been a year since my last review but I really felt the need to give another. They are kind and really care about their patients.
