Nice for a small town pizza and burger place. Small bar with family seating. Foods are delicious but on the oily side of the spectrum. Service is great few servers doing the best they can was the waves of customers come and go. Nice place to stop during a motorcycle ride for some lunch.

    Tasty pizza!

We have ordered takeout several times and haven't been disappointed yet. Kids approve of the cheese pizza as well. Super quick, only took 20 minutes every time we have ordered pick up. We will keep coming back!

I forget what it was called but basically a man style margarita...and it was delicious.

I explained that it was a mistake and we wanted to old-fashioned. He argued that that's what those were. Clearly they weren't. They are very different drinks. It became an argument, but he took a sniff of one and realized the glass was full of olive juice. He apologized and said he would remake our drinks. He did. They were OK. They were not in an old-fashioned glass and didn't have the big ice cube, but it was OK because it's a dive bar and I didn't expect that. However, I asked to close my tab and charged me $36 for the two drinks. I thought for sure that was a mistake. He said it wasn't. I argued that these drinks should not be $18 each and he said they were. I was really mad about that. It's a dive bar and dive bars don't charge more than a fine dining establishment in Vancouver or Portland. Plus I had to pay a service fee. So I didn't leave him a tip. But I'm still mad about it. Those drinks shouldn't have been more than $10 or $12. At most. That's what you pay at a nice restaurant for one of those. I'm positive if he charged me for all four drinks. My brother and girlfriend had 5 drinks and were also charged $36. Weird. One was a tequila soda and he served them Tito's and soda. I realize it was very busy and he was the only one working and could've been having a really bad night. But I don't think I should be punished and double charged. Needless to say, I definitely won't be back to this, especially if they really do charge $18 for a white trash version of an old-fashioned drink.

Also, they no longer had items I wanted to order that were on the menu because they were making a change so I was totally bummed about that too! I'll be back on another night because again, the food is good, but I'm hoping there will be a happier waitress on duty

We chose a table on the patio behind (partly to keep an eye on the bikes). As we sat waiting for menus, I glanced down and around and noticed how dirty it was. The ground near our table had several dirty napkins and other debris that hadn't been cleaned up. Our table was dirty as well. There was a blob of dried ketchup right in front of me. I asked our server if that could be cleaned up and she brought a couple wet napkins and tried to get it off and finally said, "There" and walked away. Well, it was still there. So I took a couple napkins myself and used water from my glass and after a little work it came off. The tables aren't solid so there is lots of dried goo between the slats as well. It just gave me the impression that cleanliness isn't a high priority at this establishment. One can only hope they keep the kitchen cleaner. Nevertheless we decided to give the food a try. My mom always taught me that "when in doubt order a burger. They can't mess that up", so I did, with "beer batter fries". The fries were great and I can recommend them. The burger was also pretty good. I got the cheeseburger (it has a clever name which I've forgotten). My husband was disappointed with his cilantro rice bowl, however. It was bland with not enough beans. The sauce tasted like mayo and sriracha sauce mixed together but it didn't have enough oomph to add much flavor to the dish. When our server came by and asked about the food my husband wasn't even finished answering her and she said she was sorry and walked away. Maybe you have to have enough alcohol under your belt to enjoy the food? We're out of luck because we don't drink. Sorry, Playmakers, we don't want to go back.

It's about 10 minutes or so from downtown Hood River, an easy drive on 35 and then onto 282 W, into a little main drag with a gas station and a few shops and hole-in-the-wall eateries. Michoacan is only open til 8, so get here in time. A single TV showed Mexican soccer, and the tables are basic. AC worked just fine, and the "sports bar" theme is mainly in some wall posters along with a hanging set of boxing gloves and some soccer and basketballs. The food is why you come though. For $2.50, you'll get a brightly flavored perfect guacamole, but a few bright red tomato bits and the herby bite of cilantro. The waitress told me that my entree came with guacamole, but I wanted more. I'd expected the carnitas entree to just have a spoonful, but it was a generous portion too. The chips were thick, not too salty, with enough heft to hold the thick warm bean dip that is complimentary. Inside the kitchen, visible from the dining room, you can see the women cooking. There's no celebrity chef here, no big presence in the kitchen. Just dark haired women chopping and stirring and making authentic food, and perhaps going home later to do laundry and care for family, all in the shadow of Mt Hood. Carnitas platter was visually satisfying - dark meat with a hint of charred crust, bright green guacamole and limes, a few orange pickled carrots, finely diced cilantro and onion. I often bypass the sticky rice at Tex-Mex joints, but here the grains were flaky and you could get the sweetness of tomato. As a solo diner I didn't have a chance to try the array of $2 tacos this time, but the tortillas that came with the carnitas were fresh and tasty, so that's my next visit! No mixed drinks - a selection of bottled beers (Negra Modelo, Corona, Victoria, Pacifico) which will come with no glass. The "glassware" is plastic, so you might prefer drinking out of the bottle anyway! Glad I came here - friendly staff too. Service was a bit slow - I had to ask for the bill - but fine.

Generally speaking, the food is good and we order a whole lot for our table(s) of 6 including drinks and desserts. The kids meals are a solid value - big portions of chicken strips and fries, and another with a grilled cheese and lots of tater tots. The bougie chicken bacon alfredo mac came on a big ole plate and kid #1 who ordered it, says it is very good. Myself and a friend split a Forester burger -- it comes a side, we chose onion rings, and while the burger is great (caramelized onion and gorgonzola are a fire combination), the onion rings were way overcooked to the point there was almost no onion left in the batter lol (saaaad). Kids # 2 and 3 order happy hour mozzarella sticks, soft pretzels, and panko shrimp. Everything is good according to the children and their limited taste buds. Adults order cocktails which are light on alcohol (sad face) but heavy on delicious flavors! Desserts for 3 kids, everyone says everything is great. Beyond the hollow onion rings, our service was a bit sub-par this time around. Kid #2 spilled his entire drink and while we got some help from the server in the form of bringing more napkins to the table, server girl did nothing about the lake of dr pepper on the floor below it. It was disappointing, not gonna lie. Kids are annoying, I get it, but we had to sit with our shoes in this mess. It dried enough in some spots that our shoes were literally sticking to the ground. Server girl also forgot to put the order in for the panko shrimp sooo kid #2 thought he was being punished because he got his shrimp after everyone else practically finished their meals lol. Our tab was close to 200 bucks. I cringe super hard at the thought of paying half that bill, and tipping fairly, if only because my shoe almost came off my foot when I finally stood up to leave. Dr Pepper almost got me.

The shrimp were indeed crispy & very good, as was the entire meal & well worth the extra $1.99! Service was good as well. I didn't get her name, but she said she had been there quite a while. This is a nice venue of good size with pool tables & even small TV screens mounted just above the tables in the booths!! Lots of large screens mounted about as well for sports fans.
