Went here in the past and a nice gentleman took his time to refill my BCA avalanche backpack canister. He told me to bring it back to refill. Went back a few years later an and a lady quickly looked at it and dismissed me telling me it's illegal to fill it as it's expired. Actually these canisters fall under criteria making them exempt from needing recertification they are smaller than 2" diameter and smaller than 2' length. It's been over 2 years I e been diving with POS and have enjoyed every minute of it. Earned my OW certification and have gone on to get the AOW and Rescue Diver, along with numerous specialties that has me earning Master Diver with a goal of Divemaster by the end of 2021. This is the only shop I use when it comes to diving, Mycol and Ryan are great instructors, especially as it pertains to kids. We've certified 8 Boy Scouts over the last 2 years and we plan to get more in the coming future. The knowledge and personalities of those we dive with are great. Mycol has a wealth of knowledge and patience when it comes to the learning aspects of diving and is a lot of fun to dive with in the water. The same can be said for his wife. Julie and the other divemasters we interact with monthly. I dive every month with POS when they take a class down to San Carlos Beach. Being around them and asking questions and learning is what diving is all about. Took my first dive trip with them. For my 60th birthday next year, my husband gifted me with a diving trip in Indonesia, which meant I had to become Open Water certified. I enrolled myself and my young adult daughters in a Semi-Private scuba class at Pacific Ocean Sports. Mycol, our scuba instructor was awesome! Since we were in a private classroom and pool session, he was able to address any apprehensions or techniques individually. He was patient, understanding, and very thorough in explaining and demonstrating each scuba skill. His witty humor made the lessons so enjoyable, often sharing stories from his 1000's of dives. For our ocean dives, we joined the rest of the class in Monterey. On this particular ocean dive day, there was a high ratio of instructors/dive masters to students, which ensured that all students were looked after. As an older student, it took me longer to suit up, gear up, swim against the surges and descend to depth. Sean, one of the dive masters, was so patient, kind and helpful. He kept a watchful eye on me as I was last in the water. It was on the second dive when the unthinkable happened. I lost consciousness under 20 feet of water! Ryan, the instructor, immediately sprang into action. He had me brought to the surface and towed me to shore as quickly as possible. A few dive masters followed to assist. I was later informed that Ryan had worked as a firefighter and EMT, and that I was in good hands. It was due to Ryan and the dive team's keen observation, quick response, coordinated heroic rescue efforts that I am alive and well today. I am hoping that after a thorough medical evaluation, I can complete my last two dives for OWD certification. I highly recommend Pacific Ocean Sports. We had a group of 9 teenagers that we were getting scuba certified for Boy Scouts. Ryan was great about putting together a private class for the scouts and working with our schedules. We started off with the pool and class work and he did not rush the group. We even had to add an extra half day of pool time because we didn't finish the necessary skills and Ryan didn't seem put out at all. I really can't say enough good things about my experience with this dive shop/my instructor Mycol! The patience on this man is remarkable. I had some anxiety going into this and struggled a bit in the first open water dive. I never felt pressured to go further than I was ready for, but I also got the encouragement I needed to acquire the skills and persevere. I could tell Mycol was watching me closely, was very attuned to me when I was struggling, and this made me feel very safe. He knew just how to guide me to either lower my anxiety or fix the issue...like he had done it a thousand times! I believe he has ;) His experience and knowledge of not just scuba diving, but the ocean is apparent starting day 1. He has a serious passion for the work, and it shows. I can't rave enough about my experience with Keli's. Mycol, Julie, and Ryan made me feel very comfortable learning this new skill. Their patience and guidance truly made learning fun and exciting and I would encourage anyone in the Bay Area that is interested in scuba certification to get it through them. I was referred to this business from a friend to learn to Scuba Dive. I honestly could not have been more satisfied with my experience. The price was very competitive and well worth the cost. It all started with some classroom orientation which was very casual and laid back. I felt like all of my questions and concerns were attended too. Then on the pool days the instructor Mycol was very attentive, and clearly an expert at his craft. The demonstration and instruction were very clear and concise. The open water dive was the exact same attention to detail from the pool. Their open water dive experience was a safety oriented learning environment which is what i was hoping for.
