This is a great affordable option for those who seek a comfortable stay with no frills. It's an older motel, but the room was very clean and everything was in good repair. As someone who appreciates mid-century motels, I liked the original vintage Formica countertop in the bathroom. The baseboard heater worked great. I appreciate the bedside light with the USB charging port, it's such a little convenience that I really enjoy. The microwave and mini refrigerator were also appreciated. Also, I love old motels like this with covered parking in front of the rooms! I was warmly greeted at check in by the motel owner's mother who said she travels out here every summer to help them out. She was a very sweet woman who chatted with me for a bit and was eager to recommend sights and restaurants in Brookings. I would only have a couple recommendations for improvement for the owner to enhance the guest experience and property. First, the room literally had nothing decorating the walls. A few well-chosen, tasteful pieces of wall art could go a long way to making the room feel cozier and more inviting. The other suggestion I have is to lean into the mid-century origin of the building when considering future updates or renovations. read more

Great place to kick it, the Bed was so Comfortable, did not want to get out of it. Definitely going back.

All of the other hotels that we checked in the area were booked and this was the only one we could find with vacancy, so we stayed here out of necessity. The people running this inn seem friendly. The guy was pretty quiet and just told us the information we needed to know, but he did the job. They gave us the wifi password on a strip of paper which was super old-school and easy to lose, but it worked. The wifi was terrible. We had little to no reception in the area and we kept getting kicked off of the wifi. The TV was older but the channel came in really well and we were able to watch it with no problem. The room itself was really dirty looking. There were stains everywhere, from the walls to the mattress and sheets. The tub and sink were stained and looked like they needed some maintenance like a fresh coat of sealant or something. There were surprisingly no bugs of any kind in the room, as far as we could tell. For $88 a night I'm sure there were better places we could have stayed at and in the future we will probably try to book in advance so we don't run out of hotel options. read more

A very simple motel, but the rooms are clean and the beds are comfy. It's very close to the road so there's a little noise, but definitely easy to ignore. It's really nice for the price, and close to the highway and restaurants. read more

The owners were fantastic. Very accommodating when we had noise issues with the room next door. She upgraded our room for next to nothing and moved us right away. The beds were comfortable, clean, internet connection was decent and although small and dated, we would stay again. I must say that you can hear your neighbors through the walls but our neighbors were slamming doors all night and pounding on our shared wall. If you're looking for a modern motel you won't find that here but the customer service is tops. I'm happy to support this business read more

Local motel with rates better than most others. If your expectations are for a local motel, the place is good. Not filthy, not five stars. Carpet sure could use a cleaning though. Sheets seemed clean, bed was comfortable, had a fridge and microwave. No a/c but in Brookings it doesn't usually matter here. It was safe and we slept without a ton of street noise. read more

My wife daughter and I had nowhere to go and these folks worked with the county to help us out and we are about as happy as can be. Carports in front of the rooms, adequate heating, and the best thing is it's quiet. We are so thankful fir the good people running this place and the service they provide to this beautiful community. If you're a five star room service spoiled ritzy one it's probably not the place for you. But, if you're a practical and down to earth type of person this is the perfect spot. Rooms are smaller than most places but they're clean and well maintained. The bathrooms are nice and even have heaters in them, and the floors are clean. It's an older place with some obvious age, but for me that just adds to the ambiance of the place. We're a coastal town and a little rustic is no harm to anyone. The Inn is the essence of Brookings, Beautiful, Bold, and a little bit old. I have NO complaints about the place and appreciate the good people running it. So this review is just for the way I was treated. I made a reservation via Expedia. It never made it to the hotel. I showed up at 1:30 in the morning and they had no more vacancy. I explained that I had a reservation and they searched their books and found nothing. They could have just turned me away but they apologetically put me in an un-remodeled room and transferred me to a better one in the am. The rooms are typical no-frills roadside motel rooms so do not expect something from the Ritz-Carlton. If you want to stay here, it might be better to call the directly so as to cut out any sources of miscommunication. read more

Stayed here during a weeklong roadtrip around Oregon. The owners and staff are super friendly, warm, and kind (new management as of April 2018, for those of you concerned about the older reviews). The place itself is conveniently located, clean, and very safe. The rooms could use a bit of an upgrade and the wifi was spotty at times, but I was told that those upgrades are both in the works. The Pacific Sunset Inn is a small cozy motel along 101 in the middle of Brookings, OR. The rooms are simple, comfortable, and clean. The quality of the bed/ mattress rivals that of many of the much more expensive branded hotels. The towels were perfect for me light with serious drying power. There are rooms with fridges and microwaves but no coffee pot (I never use one in room pots). There is coffee in the lobby and a nice little porch to sit and enjoy it. The man at the desk was charming and helpful. He confessed he and his wife were the new owners. I was surprised that he was new as he was so knowledgeable about the area. He gave some great ideas for meals and beaches. He has ideas for the future of this property as well and I'm looking forward to seeing it as it progresses. The seaside community and the Inn are quaint and have a lot history attached. Brookings is a lovely beach town to visit and the Pacific Sunset Inn is a nice place to stay but get your reservations in early as I think it the best deal in town. read more

I stayed at this place and the lady that helped me kept explaining the prices to me as if wanting reassurance I had the money to pay...so I let that pass and when she finished the processing my payment and gave me the keys to the rooms she said "gracias" in a mocking tone like that irritated me but I had already paid so I said nothing. The bed was horrible to sleep in and woke up with back aches....we went out the whole day and when we came back our beds were poorly done, dirty towels were gone but not replinished, the little body soaps were not replinished. I spent 2 nights in this place and I won't ever stay there again. read more

Rooms were okay. Beds were comfy. Shower walls were covered with hair and the bathroom floors hadn't been swept. We had the heater all the way up and still froze with the tiny blanket and sheets that were on the beds. The worst part were the paper thin walls. I mean like tissue paper thin. My mom and I were awake off and on from 10pm to 3am listening to the couple next to us bang all night. Talk about awkward -____-. You could hear everything, sounds like elephants walking next door. For the price it was okay, but if you need sleep this isn't the place. Not to mention their phone is disconnected so calling them to complain about the noise was a no go. read more

Carpets were very dirty our feet were black just by walking to the bathroom and back to the bed. Customer service was terrible also they were extremely rude to us. My aunt is allergic to perfume and smoke so we got a non smoking room but we were put next to people who were smoking in there room and right outside our door. We started to smell the smoke so we politely asked the owner/managers to do something about and instead of helping us they argued with us and told us to leave and we had to ask the smokers to not smoke by our room ourselves. There is no air conditioning here so when we asked them about it they said they'd give us a fan but they were really rude about it. The only reason we're giving this place a two star rating is because there are no bugs haha. read more

Horrible experience. Made a reservation with Booking.com and was sent a confirmation email. It was a holiday weekend, so the confirmation was uber important. After a long day of driving, I arrive only to be told that they had no vacancies and haven't had vacancies for a week. I asked that staff check their computer and see my confirmation only to be told that they needed do that because their records (handwritten in a ruled paper notebook) showed no vacancies. I argued that I didn't appreciate being given the run around by a business not using modern technology. She passed the responsibility to Booking.com and made no attempt to rectify the situation: she wouldn't call any other motels to help me out (nor would she allow me to use the bathroom!). Unprofessional management. I suggest avoiding the place altogether until they come into the present century, use computers, and take responsibility for their errors. read more

Our room didn't have a comforter. The heater dial was broken and we were woken up in the middle of the night because it was too hot. The neighbors were also extremely noisy and had a barking dog when there were obvious signs that said "no pets" and they were smoking right outside of their non-smoking room. We weren't expecting much from our quick stay but it was extremely over-priced. read more
