I always recommend people avoid this clinic no matter what the circumstances. I see with the reviews here that their reputation is the same as my experience has shown me of their so called care and love to animals. Several years ago I had taken in a dog who was pregnant. She had her pups. All was doing well. They got their shots and deworming on time. At about 6.5 weeks of age one pup started acting off and not eating, he was brought in as an emergency the very same day. Ran bloodwork and a bunch of tests. No answers. Sent home to monitor. He was brought in a total of 4 times in a week as he progressively got worse, seizures and seemingly blind but with clear healthy eyes. Syringe feeding was the only way I could get food into him. That 4th time, I was told they planned to run bloodwork again, with the vet literally saying that the first 3 parvo tests could have been false negatives and something could have changed in his numbers overnight. He had literally been there the day before. Over 3200 spent with no answers. I went to the internet for help. Where a breeder actually helped more for free than this place ever did. Recommend me to see a different vet immediately and bring up hydrocephalus. This place knew what my puppy had, and that there was no cure. Instead took advantage of my heart and the poor dog by milking out every time they could before he passed. With his age and the extremely bad case of hydrocephalus he had, there was no option but to euthanize. This hydrocephalus should have been seen on the trips to be health checked or get dewormed and the first shots, but no. Not this vet clinic. A breeder on the other side of the country recognized the health problems this baby was born with from photos of him from birth to the 6 week age, clearly pointing out to me all the clear signs in the many photos I posted of him seeking help. It was there and clearly visible at birth. It was there and clearly visible at a week old. This clinc health checked them at 4 days old and seen nothing. It was clearly visible in the 4 week photos when this clinic seen them for deworming. They saw nothing. It was clearly visible in the 6 week photos and this clinic saw nothing. But hey lesson learned thanks for the broken heart and the bill for over $3200. Now none of my family or friends go here after what I went through and I've always shared this story with everyone looking for a good clinic. This ain't the place if you want a trustworthy place that cares about your beloved pets and not just the money. The biggest kick to the heart is this place no matter how many times I tell them still send reminders for this dead put that it's time for a health check or shots. We were referred here from Appleton for an abdominal ultrasound for our dog. The staff on the phone when I called for the initial appointment was very friendly. Upon check in, I was asked to use the hand sanitizer and they had an exam room ready for me and my dog. Dr Broekman came in and explained the procedure to me. He was Also very thorough after the procedure and reviewing all the images with me. I highly recommend this place. read more

I want to preface this review with some positives and perspective. Our German Shorthair Pointer is a very high strong 4-year-old rambunctious pup who loves the outdoors. He's a gentle giant who is extremely tall for his breed and runs weight wise around 70 lbs. He also is a goof ball who jumps out of vehicles too fast or runs like a maniac around the yard, which leads us to why we visited Packerland for an ortho consult for a bum knee. He has been limping for about a year on and off but it only seemed to bother him when he would go a little too hard outside running and then he would be fine the rest of the week if we restricted his activity. Time passed (about 6 months) and he continued to limp occasionally, so we brought him in to our regular vet who did a maneuver workup and x-rays and didn't find any acute findings (and also sent the x ray to Milwaukee vet students who saw maybe a possible partial small cruciate tear). We were told to monitor him, give him some pain meds when he did push it too hard, try to restrict his activity when we could (again he is a highstrong GSP) and ortho consult if he continued to limp. We did just that, wait and watch. It didn't get better, so I called packerland to get an ortho appointment and had a WONDERFUL experience with their receptionist, who explained what the appointment would look like, if we decided surgery how our dog's surgery process and recovery would go and set me up for the appointment. She told me that he may be a candidate for same day surgery as the appointment, and general cost was around $5,000. Because of his occasional symptoms, we weren't sold on him needing surgery. We thought there was maybe some "in the meantime things we could do" and plan surgery for fall when it would be easier to keep him restricted for the 17ish weeks he would need to recover. So I called my vet and had my records pushed and waited for the appointment. THE NEGATIVES. The technician who brought us back was initially nice but the tune changed when we were roomed. She asked about the injury, and we immediately felt judgement for "waiting so long to get this looked at" which I understand it's been a while that he has had the injury. She seemed annoyed that it was an old injury and asked if we had films done. I was confused, "didn't my records get faxed?" she had my records but not the x rays (it was noted in them he had x rays done) and made it feel as though it was MY fault they were not sent. My question is, do you prep your records or patients for the next day or the morning of? Why if my dog was a candidate for a surgery same day was it not prepared AT ALL to see what his injury even was or how far the injury had been worked up already. I told her that if new x rays were needed because it had been a while we would be happy to do that today, the answer was a stern "no, if we don't have the x rays now then they are no use to us anyway". My husband also simply asked if the limping sometimes was just "something he does out of habit" she responded with a very snarky "Dogs don't have the mental capacity to do something like that so if he's limping he's in pain." She then left the room to get Dr. Dunbar. He entered the room and was extremely professional and explained the types of surgery very well. However, I wasn't impressed when he entered the room he was looking through the notes from my vet, and it seemed like it was the first time he had ever even looked at them. (I understand that you don't prep patients far in advance, but I'd expect a little more than literally as you're walking in) He also had some stronger comments about how he did not advise we wait any longer when we just simply asked if we could wait until September to have the surgery performed so we would be able to restrict him better after. Where I was unhappy with those comments was not with the fact that he believed the surgery should be done sooner, it was with the fact that they made me feel like I was some horrible pet parent who had put off his surgery LONG ENOUGH. He swiftly left the room when I think he figured out that we were not going through with the surgery that day and it made me feel pushed off. 5,000 is a lot of money, something we will have to save and budget for. I would've loved to hear if there was other options for him in the meantime. Like could we try any kind of steroids, injections, or a brace until we can get the surgery? It felt like the only option was SURGERY OR NOTHING. It made me feel like just another dollar sign, and that I was being a horrible pet parent for even CONSIDERING waiting a few more months. I knew when I left my face was so red and my eyes were welted up with tears, the receptionist seemed to notice at checkout. Needless to say, we will not be getting our surgery performed here and getting a second opinion elsewhere, I just can't hand over the 5,000 to someone I felt like just a number to. read more

My daughter brought our cat in to get a check up. The proof of vaccination was not yet sent over by my previous vet. When I scheduled the appointment I made no mention of getting vaccines. She received all her vaccines earlier this year. Packerland vet decided to give her vaccines anyway during the visit. Brittany, the tech I spoke with, said my daughter authorized it. She did not. My daughter said she wasn't sure what our cat needed and that she was only there because I could not attend the appointment myself. After hearing that, Packerland Vet should have contacted me. Instead they just proceeded with the vaccines. Pretty ridiculous that Packerland vet did this. The tech I spoke to (Brittany) also had an attitude about the situation and was very defensive and condescending. She basically just said oh well. So I was charged for unneeded and unauthorized treatments. They also stapled another customer's receipt to mine with their personal information on it. Dog had to have emergency surgery. i told them three times and put on the forms that he's allergic to a drug. Then they gave it to him anyway. Why would you make someone fill out forms that you don't intend to read? He was clearly just another pay day to them and they had no intention of listening to anything someone had to say about their pet. So disappointed. read more

Don't go to this clinic if you want your pet taken care of and properly diagnosed when injured. I went there 2 times and the vet was so focused on saying it was my dogs back when he was lame on a leg. They won't even give me my $100 off when presented with one of their referral coupons stating it was an old one. What crappy business people these are all the care about is money and not your animals health. Therefore, I went to the Animal Referral Center in Appleton and they correctly diagnosed my dog and are fixing him. So if you want your money wasted and their word is taken back on an offer they provide go to them but if you want your animal HEALED to else such as the Referral center! Horrible business and HORRIBLE pet care! Here is an update my dog had surgery to remove an ocd in his left hind from fvarc who was successful at diagnosing a lame dog in 1 session! So please tell me Packerland veterinary center how you think your vet was right when he doesn't even listen to the owner who knows therapy and understands this stuff. Maybe he should do some more ceus to better educate himself on how to properly diagnose a dog. Only one thing on their minds their pocketbook, run the other way if you want your pet health. Tracy, While I appreciate your response to my review, it leads me to believe that you, personally, have literally no idea whatsoever excactly how we were treated during this time ~ throughout the time of my review, in fact ~ when I attempted for the THIRD time to resolve the banking issues with your staff! I'd actually like to start though, with correcting the notion that we were advised to take Max to the Emergency Clinic; we were not. In fact, when I asked if there were any possible way we could have him seen sooner, I was met with a self righteous "Nope, that's it". I expected SO much more from people we'd trusted for so long. Instead, a member of your staff who should really have known US well enough ~ known ANY pet~parent well enough, for that matter ~ to know the extreme panic, and the unbelievable amount of helplessness and fear is caused by such a traumatic situation, chose to pout and take our agitated state personally, apparently resulting in a complete refusal to try to help in any way ! In hindsight, I'm sure I myself should have thought to simply take Max to the Emergency Clinic, but my mind in this state was clearly not processing the way it should have; I was relying on what I thought were the experts in this instance. I am not attempting to excuse unacceptable behavior, merely to provide some type of explaination, as it is clear that even in a positition which one think would REQUIRE this type of understanding to even obtain, it's not a given. Ultimately, as former patients of Packerland ~ for many years ~ I feel more than qualified to give an analysis based on all of our experiences with you. Not only did we remain loyal customers after our move to the East side 5 years ago, but we have recommended your services over the years and in addition, we have also adopted 2 Kittens through you ~ so we have a LOT of experience ~ we have a lot of hairy children! There is no one that knows us that does not know the extent of our love for them! Until recently, we thought we were in the right hands. We adopted our lovely cat from a local shelter. She had two broken front feet and an abscess that was healing. She is minimally mobile and we knew she needed more help. Packerland was willing to see what they could do to help her. The doctor and staff was just wonderful, keeping me informed about everything that was happening with my pet. (We can't go in the facility because of COVID restrictions). I left with medication for my cat, options for treatment, and another appointment. Our guinea pigs needed to be seen quickly, but they had no availability and offered no guidance except to try to call starting when the phone lines open at 8am to hopefully get a first come, first serve urgent care appointment. Walked in today for his appointment and it had apparently been cancelled because I left a negative review (according to the office manager/owner). No one called. So I took off work to bring him in only to be told that they wouldn't see him because they couldn't trust us. I asked for our records and was told they would mail them. I said I would wait and was told they would call the police if I didn't leave. I have heard a lot of negative comments about this clinic, but I didn't believe them. I totally get it now. Susie was absolutely insensitive to me on the phone. They cancelled our appointment because of a negative review. The office manager never returned my call and today threatened me with the police while I sat in a room with our sick little ferret because I wanted to leave with records. This place is horrible. I have been going to Packerland for years - I have 6 cats and each has been treated there by 4 different doctors. They saved my Parkers life when he had crystals - they tried treating him conservatively first then wound up doing surgery. They were very helpful setting up a payment plan. They take great care of my semi feral little girl - they always treat me and my animals with respect. I also foster for a local shelter and they are wonderful about working around my schedule when it is time to have them altered. Made an appointment for my 2 1/2 year old cat here (was bringing him there since he was a kitten) because he was licking below frequency and going in and out of his litter box. I ended up bringing him to the Green Bay Referral Center the night before his appointment because I was very worried. The next day at his appointment, after spending $300+ here to have tests done it was confirmed he had crystals in his urine. They sent him home with nothing else but very expensive special food- no pain medication, no instructions to call them if he wasn't getting better, no follow up call to see how he was doing (and I've been bringing him here since he was a kitten, needless to say spending a lot of money) 2 days later my cat is dead, I had to bring him back into the Green Bay Referral Center Sunday night (his appointment was Friday) because he was in pain, they told me he had a blockage from the crystals and they could either sedate him and do surgery (for $1400+) or I could euthanize him. Because I didn't want to see him in anymore pain I had no choice but to put him down. I feel that if Packerland Vet did more than just run up a bill and send him on his way, he would've had a chance. Worst customer service ever. Got burned twice by the office manager. 1st time should have been a red flag. Held my pet hostage until I coughed up the money. Even offered to let them hold my drivers license until I returned. Signed up for the gold plan which I cannot say is that cost effective. They find ways to bill you for services not covered. Had pet fixed on Friday, my wife used the wrong credit card. Called immediately. even though the clinic was open the office manager who does the billing had already left for the day. Left message did not get a return call, I had to call first thing this morning . They refused to reverse the charges and let me apply it to a different credit card. Refused to honor my request because they would be billed another processing fee. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! I will be shopping for another vet, that places customer service as a foundation for good paying customers. Would not recommend this clinic to ANYONE!!!! read more

I tried taking our cat there a few times and was very, very unhappy. He is FIV+ and I was hoping that they would be knowledgeable on that, but they had me keep him in the car always until his appointment and immediately take him to the car after the appointment and before paying. He was always in a carrier and no other vet that I've spoken to has had any concern with him coming in normally. My final appointment before changing vets was when I brought him in for a nail trim. The vet tech seemed miserable and was honestly so unfriendly. There also were at least 6 dogs inside (which is fine obviously), but two were fighting, one peed all over but my cat who has FIV can't wait inside? The owners didn't have control but neither did any of the employees. It was just super unprofessional. I've also had to call MANY times to get documents sent to my new vet, even after signing a permission form. They never send it. The vet was just okay, reception was hit or miss. We're much happier at the vet we are now. read more

I would not suggest going to this vet. I tried to get in as an Emergency for my pet. They kept saying call at 8:00 and see if we can get you in as an Emergency each day because they are 4 weeks out. Then I talked to another rep that said who said we can get anyone in for Emergencies? So after all the time I tried to get my cat in, they really weren't accepting emergency patients and their staff failed to tell me. But it gets better, I had them schedule an appointment out further since I was desperate just to hold a spot. In the meantime I was able to get in to the Pearl Emergency Vet. I told Packerland this and I thought I was done with them. Not happy they didn't accomodate me and my pet. They also just sent a bill in the mail for a missed appointment that I forgot I even had scheduled due to all the run around from them and my pet. They would not budge in waiving the fee. I am on disability and have no way to pay this and its ridiculous!!! They didn't have my contact info correct.. and they said they tried to call for the appointment but they did have my new number because they returned my call using it. Very unorganized office. Most places nowadays ask you to verify your personal info before they will answer your questions. They argued about this one too. If they had to just saved my new number, I woudn't have this unnecessary fee they tagged that not even Bellin Hospital does to people. Bellin for example is professional, they verify your personal info is correct everytime you call. They also send reminders for appointments and have you confirm.. Packerland did none of this and said no to my cat in an urgent time of need and said no to waiving their outrageous missed appt fee eventhough I explanined I am disabled and they didn't call my new number. I am so throughly disappointed and disgusted I had to provide important truthful feedback for all to see. read more

I live in Iron River, MI 150 miles from Packerland Veterinary a 2 1/2 hour drive. Overall Packerland is a very nice place, but my experience with my dog Babe (a 6 year old yellow lab) and her surgery (Feb. 12th) for an Achilles tendon tear not so good. The splint that she was put in did more harm than good. In a few days Babe's paw got very swollen. So I cut the support that was around her paw to get the swelling down. It was the weekend and had to wait to Monday (Feb, 19th) to bring her in. Remember 150 mile trip one way. When we got there we needed help getting Babe out of our Jeep. No problem there, but Babe for some reason did not like the guy that helping out. Babe jumped from the cargo area to the front seat. By the time we got her inside that splint was starting to come off. While waiting for help in the waiting area she was bleeding from the surgery sight on the floor and still bleeding in the exam room. Dr. Dunbar did take the splint off and that is when I noticed that the splint bandages around her inner thigh was being rubbed raw. Dr. Dunbar did wrapped Babe in bandages around her paw and ankle. I really did not like the idea that they sedated her on the floor in the exam room to put the new bandages on. And talk about a small room. Between the doc, his assistant, my husband and I, I felt like we were packed in there like sardines. For such a teleological and so up to date on care, the examining rooms should be much better than what we were in. read more
