This company has no business making or adjusting orthotics (custom insoles). The owner of the company appears to have a degree in bio-engineering, but if he does have knowledge of biomechanics, he has not passed this knowledge along to others at his company. I received a prescription for an adjustment on my custom orthotics from my podiatrist and was directed to go to Pacmed, a local company, which I was excited about. I went to Pacmed six different times for three different adjustments. In the end, Pacmed basically butchered my $300 custom orthotics and made adjustments that did not demonstrate an understanding of the basics of orthotic insoles--that minute changes in insoles impact biomechanics all the way up the skeleton. The first featured a circular ridge in the middle of the metatarsal. The second pair which was supposed to have a "metatarsal cut-out" (per the prescription) had been shaved down so two insoles were no longer the same height. The final adjustment had a ledge across the middle of the orthotic where the hard plastic of the custom orthotic met the front of the foot insole. I wore these yesterday while walking, and experienced severe knee problems as a result, something I have not experienced with over the counter insoles with a smooth insole.

Brandon was the first employee who truly stood out--he greeted us warmly, introduced himself, and treated both my mother and me with respect. I found this out at inpatient rehab when my physical therapist pointed it out. He loaned me a junior walker to use at the facility. I ended up being ready to go home before the planned two weeks. I could not be discharged without the proper sized walker. I looked at all the places I could think of. If they actually had junior walkers, they were out of stock. The average price was less than $50. So the facility hooked me up with Stat Medical. To their credit, they got right back to me. I appreciate that. They could deliver a junior walker the next day. I figured it would be around $100. Nope. Boy, was I off. It was $170 plus tax! I took them to task on this, asking why it cost so much. There was no clear, believable explanation. But I was over a barrel and bought it. The guy delivers it the next day. He was going to leave it, but I made him open it up, adjust it properly, and remove the packaging. I found out too late that I could have gotten the same thing from another supply company for $86, delivered. I won't use this rip-off company again.

My purpose was to pick up my new CPAP machine. As soon as I got off the bus I walked across the street to the Pearl Kai shopping center and started walking along the walkway towards the back. Off to the right in the back and right next to the Tattoo shop there was Gammie HomeCare!! I walked into the showroom which was filled with with different types of walkers, comfy looking chairs and motorized wheelchairs. There was a lady sitting behind a desk helping a customer and she got up and asked me to sit down after I told her I had a 4:00pm appointment. Not even 5 minutes later Daniel Paregien, Respiratory Support Technician, came out and introduced himself and brought me into his office. Since my PCP had provided him with part of my sleep study data, he was able to chose the right CPAP machine for me. He was thorough in explaining how it worked, how to take it apart and put back together, what kind of water to use & how much, how and when to clean it & change the filter. I had to record it (I got his permission) so I wouldn't forget anything. He gave me his card so I could ask questions in future. I got to try it out to see if it fit & if it felt comfortable. It felt weird but I'll have to get used to it, starting tonight. It could save my life. I asked for permission to take photos so I wouldn't show anyone's personal information. Mahalo, Danny!! You made the whole experience so much better than I imagined.

I told her I didn't know it was a national company and i was grateful for her reaching out because I thought that the woman I spoke with before (Emmaline) was one of the highest ranked employees, so I thought there was nothing else i could do about my situation. I talked about my conversation with Emmaline, Olivia was super open and patient. I also let her know that ALL of the conversations I had with the other workers all went well and the service was great all in all, just the way that Emmaline handled my situation was super unprofessional. Olivia reassured me that she had found where the fault was and took care of my situation with no hesitation. I'm so grateful to Olivia and I apologized for my part, she was so understanding and reassuring. i just wanted to give her a big hug because after knowing it's a bigger company and knowing the woman I spoke with previously wasn't at the top of it all, made me feel much better about the company because I know that the company is in better hands than what I dealt with. So i do want to apologize and add to my previous review, CalMed does not deserve a one star, or a thumbs down. It was just a negative experience with ONE WORKER who i mistook as someone of high priority and importance within the company. So again, thank you Olivia for reaching out to me and showing me the grace and patience I needed with my situation.

We've purchased walkers, trays, canes, and various other mobility accessories over the years. But I will be taking my business elsewhere. Unfortunately, we had an incident where a wheel on a rollator (one of those folding walkers that has a built in seat) came off. I brought the rollator, wheel, and other pieces into Dauterman hoping to get some assistance - Can it be fixed? How long would that take and how much? Should it be fixed or should we buy a new rollator? I was 100% ready to buy a new one, but I wanted to get some info. Too bad the gentleman who was there was unfriendly and unhelpful and became quite rude. He was watching something on his phone the whole time I was trying to talk to him. He couldn't tell me if the technician would be in this Friday or next Friday. After filling out the technician form I asked for a bag for the loose wheel, bolt, etc. He said that he didn't have a bag. I told him that I was concerned that pieces might get lost by the time the technician came in. I told him that I'd appreciate it if he could stop looking at his phone long enough to grab a bag for me - he grabs a paper bag and pretty much throws it at me. He then suggests that I could take the rollator somewhere else. I told him that I didn't want to be accused of not providing all the pieces because he's too busy playing on his phone. He then told me to take my business somewhere else and ripped up the form that I filled out. Some additional colorful words were exchanged and I left. Like I said, Dauterman used to be our go-to store. I'd like to buy local, so I'll be checking out other mobility supply stores. Otherwise I'll just order things off Amazon.
