Our mom wanted Mexican food for her birthday. We wanted to stay close to the Kapolei area and decided to visit Pacos Tacos. This was our first time at this restaurant, but it won't be our last. Our first time to Kapolei and we saw this on yelp. The food was Delicioso! Service was great! The world cup was on the TV's so it made it a perfect spot to watch and react to it so the ambiance was great. I had two cheese enchiladas with red sauce. They were so tasty and the perfect amount of heat. My husband had a combo plate with a chicken enchilada and a taco al pastor. He ate it all up. We both left our plates empty. I've been a few times and was disappointed by the service. My fiance also didn't have any good things to say. However, we decided to give it a another chance and went in on a taco Tuesday. They weren't busy so we were seated right away. They have inside, outside and bar seating. Their taco Tuesday special is three tacos for the price of two, so you save about $3 to $4 bucks depending on the protein you order. We ordersed the Carne Asada Fries, Chicken Enchilada and Chile Relleno plate, Fish and Shrimp tacos, and two jarritos. We set our expectations low and were actually surprised because the food was very tasty. The tortillas are corn and tasted fresh, the fish and shrimp were flavorful and juicy. The tacos came with sauce and we enjoyed the Chipotle sauce, it was a nice tangy flavor with a little kick. The cheese in the Chile relleno wasn't as melty as I would want it, but the flavor tasted good. The chicken in the enchiladas were also juicy and tasty! The rice and beans were cooked just right, the rice was fluffy and the beans weren't too mushy. We also enjoyed the carne asada fries, they were crispy and they give a lot of meat and toppings. Service was good, yet they served us iced tea when we ordered Plantation Iced Tea. Prices are on the higher side. Presentation is lacking. A lonely burrito slapped on a barren plate, lacks imagination or creativity. Food quality was meh. We got there around 1pm on a Saturday and the place was empty. Absolutely loved our experience here. No wait time got seated right away. Greeted by a friendly server. She mentioned it was her fifth day working there. She did an amazing job. Food was so good. From the rice to refried beans to the lunch special we ordered. Mine was the chili relleno with chicken enchilada, Second plate ordered was also a lunch special was great. My search for my favorite Mexican restaurant on Oahu continues, and I really enjoyed my visit today! We started with chips and salsa, which came with traditional red salsa and two additional bottled salsas. My favorite was the orange-colored one, it was so good! For an appetizer, I ordered the taquitos, which came out quickly and were surprisingly filling. For my entrée, I ordered the chicken fajita skillet. It was served with a plate of rice and beans, along with pico de gallo, sour cream, and guacamole on the side. My friend ordered the two-taco plate with Baja fish tacos, rice, and beans. She thought they were delicious! The tacos were topped with slaw, cabbage, tomatoes, and an avocado salsa. The only thing I didn't quite enjoy was the horchata. After taking a few sips, I asked if I could switch it to a Jamaica drink instead. It was better, but it still didn't quite hit the spot for me. One thing I really appreciated was that we were served water immediately after being seated, in the cutest Corona cups! Another server also stopped by to check on us, which was a nice touch and showed great teamwork. Thank you for the fast and friendly service. We will definitely be back! 2nd time here in 3 weeks. Wanted to try again and wanted to like it. Food is just alright. 5 out of 10. Besides being a tad overpriced. Similar to Mekiko in Ko Olina (resort prices). Fantastic friendly staff, lovely decor, comfortable chairs, shaded outdoor dining and has the best margaritas around town. Unlike so many other Mexican restaurants on this island the menu items are not premade so if you ask for something special, chicken fajita (please, no onions for me ) the chef can make it happen! Pacos is a hidden gem in Kapolei! Located in the same shopping center as the Foodland and Curry House, located next to Gina's you'll find them. I don't know much about Mexican food..so I was honestly amused to see they had a sandwich "torta" on the menu. I had to try it! I got a carne asada torta which came with fries. There was a sauce that came with it..and I have to say it was pretty good! The bred was soft and crispy (outside) at the same time. It was a decent size where I couldn't eat it all. I really wanted to like this spot, but the whole experience was pretty disappointing. I ordered the steak burrito, and honestly it was tiny--like snack-sized. On top of that, rice and beans aren't included (you have to pay extra), which felt odd for a Mexican restaurant. For what you get, the prices are way too high. The service didn't help either. We were literally the only people in the restaurant, but all the staff were sitting around eating their own meals. Our server dropped off the food and then turned his back to us to eat his meals. When it came time for the bill, he just kept eating at a nearby table while we sat there waiting. Between the slow service, the underwhelming food, and the inflated prices, it just wasn't worth it. Came on a Friday for lunch. Great service. Ordered Plantation tea.. unsweetened but note it does have pineapple juice... very good and it's huge. The service was so quick and they bought our food out within the next 10-15 min after we ordered! While my friend and I was praying they was holding out plate to let us finish praying. They checked on us every once in a while to make sure we was good. The food was delicious, we both got paco's tacos lunch special which is Lunch A: carnitas tacos (either chicken or beef) & chicken enchilada, comes with beans and rice. Service was friendly but the one thing I despise? Is when they bring you your tab on one of those handheld tablets. All it's showing you is the cost & set to automatically give an 18% gratuity. I ordered from local by toast. 2 carne asada tacos and burritos and chocolate flan Tacos is only 2 simple tacos is $13. Burritos was ok.$14 Chocolate flan is $10. Tacos is just some bork in corn taco also only 1 slice of corn taco for $13. Over price. Chocolate flan isn't my favorite. Staffs are nice so that's why I gave 3stars. The torta carne asada was savory, the bread was crunchy. But the best item we had was the menudo! So good we had to order an extra one to go home! Maybe the best menudo on the island... The service great! Everyone was friendly and kind. The wait for our food was short. Loved the photos of their family on the walls, it reflects their values and the feeling that everyone is family there. Also prices were affordable. Portion sizes are a bit bigger than average so come with an appetite (or be like us and take your food home for later!). What I received was a sad pile of chips and meat (see photo). No cheese. No sour cream. No guac. No pico de gallo. No salsa. Nothing. Just meat on dry burnt chips. That's not nachos--that's an half of what I paid for. I figured mistakes happen, so I called them, expecting a basic apology and maybe a credit. Instead, I got hit with the most dismissive customer service I've ever encountered. I was told, "You got your nachos, right?" Um, no. I got half of what I paid for. That's like ordering a sandwich and being told the bread counts as a full meal. The worst part? No accountability. No solution. No apology. Just a total lack of care. I remembered when they used to be in Kalihi before relocating to Kapolei. After passing by a few times, we finally decided to give them a try. They're located in the Kapolei Village Center and there's lots of parking. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, and the staff was warm and welcoming. They have quite an extensive food and drink menu. I was pleasantly surprised to see nopales on the menu, something you usually only find at truly authentic Mexican spots. One downside: you can't mix and match tacos, which was a bit disappointing since I love sampling different flavors. I ended up ordering three nopales tacos and a surf and turf burrito filled with shrimp and steak. The bf got a grilled fish burrito. We both got chile verde sauce which had small pork pieces in it. Everything we had was really good and fresh. They also had some chipotle sauce that you could add to your dish which was delicious on all the dishes and it wasn't too spicy for me. We were in the shopping center for other reasons, and @Rani R had the onos for Mexican, so we decided to get some takeout from Pacos Tacos Cantina. Service was quick, and we were able to sit and watch the food being prepared in the open kitchen. I was very impressed at the precise manner in which the cook prepared our food, and the efficient teamwork and communication between his assistant and himself. Presentation was nice, especially in the takeout containers, and the portions were generous. There was only one order ahead of ours, so our wait time was very reasonable, as well.
