This truck is run by two sweet Korean ladies. I was very impressed with my meat jun plate as it was a lot of food for $20. Additionally, it was so fresh. I watched them make it from scratch right in front of me! I really love that this truck serves up fresh made-to-order Korean food and it's not just sitting... you can really taste the freshness. It was one of the best meat Jun plates I've had on Oahu... if not the best! They have several wooden picnic tables that are all shaded as well. It's surprisingly cool under there and a great place to take a shopping break and refuel. I'd come back just to eat, never mind shop!

It was almost 11am and it looked like all the trucks were closed, but fortunately, Dick's was open. It looked like they were only one of two or three that were. I decided on the lechon with pancit plate this time, since the Fried rice I got the last time was fairly bland. It was a good choice, as the noodles were flavorful, with lots of veggies. Unfortunately, the lechon was super salty this time. It was moist and the skin was veto crispy, but I could only eat a little at a time, due to the saltiness. I'm hoping this was a "one off", and they didn't change their preparation or recipe. I'll have to make sure by stopping by again to grab another order soon.

However, the dipping sauce for the summer Rolls was spicy and the wrapper was full to the point of falling apart. This smoked meat is fairly lean which concerned me at first but my concerns were not warranted. The meat has a strong great flavor but the spice level is pretty low. In a way I was happy with that because I didn't want to be have the spice overpower the flavor of good smoked meat. As long as you aren't looking for burn your mouth spicy this is excellent smoked meat at a reasonable price.

The lau lau and kalua pig definitely needed poi -- I think you can only get poi as a side order because it doesn't come with any of the Hawaiian plates. Squid luau is one of my favorite Hawaiian foods and I did find a few really big pieces of seafood in my side order! It was sweet from the coconut and really tasty. It was a Thursday afternoon, and we mingled with the intrepid tourists who drove to Central O'ahu. This malasadamobile is permanently parked in food truck row. You can see it from the freeway. You can see Laverne's, the malasasamobile, Mountain Shave Ice, Thong's Thai, Taste Tea, Dick's Lechon, and ... the blood bank mobile. The truck ladies had to be sweltering but they were still nice. And it's always a happy atmosphere when you're about to get a box full of deep-fried, sugar rolled doughnuts. I stuck with the classic sugar but we also got some cinnamon sugar and stuffed (dobash and haupia) to share.
