    Chile relleno plate

El Mariachi tends to hit and miss. A lot. My most recent dinner experience was just OK. Service was friendly and attentive. Our food? Hmmm... I think Taco Bell would have satisfied my cravings and that says a lot! More consistency is needed in the kitchen.

    Pozole

I ordered via DoorDash. I was craving pozole on Saturday morning and El Mariachi was the only place that had it available for delivery via DoorDash so I took a chance as I have never dined at El Mariachi. I ordered pozole, and the 3 combo plate (you choose the 3 items) for my husband (a tri plate with chicken enchilada, chicken tamale, and chicken taco). I also ordered chips and salsa to go with guacamole. The pozole was pretty good and it came with the trimmings. Only item missing was the lime. I have to say that the pozole was really delicious. It could have used more hominy but I have to say the pozole seemed freshly made and it had a great flavor! I didn't go to the location so I'm not sure about the ambience. However, the service was as quick as you'd expect via DoorDash. The food was handled with care and bagged appropriately to prevent any leakage. This is definitely my go to spot for pozole. Just please add a little more hominy and lime in the trimmings plate.

The hunt continues for a great Mexican restaurant in Hawaii. I was so excited to see Pozole as a special menu item for the day! I love me some pozole. We got our complimentary chips and salsa and ordered the three taco plate and pozole. The pozole was well put together with the hominy and bone in pork. The flavor, however, was too porky. It had a distinctive strange pork flavor which I am not used to in my pozole. It was definitely from the pork and not the cabbage or hominy. The pozole was $21.95. The two tacos plate was okay. ($17.95) Hubby didn't like the barbacoa taco at all. It had too much of a strong spice flavor, we couldn't finish it. Maybe we should've ordered something else.

Quick date night with my hubby at this restaurant we randomly selected. Great choice for Mexican food. Salsa and chips for free and the salsa was right about of heat to it. The service was quick and the woman serving us was nice. The food we got was good and enough to feed our hunger. I loved the guac and salsa fresco that the dishes came with. We came 30 minutes before closing they were so cool to let us dine in quickly. Wanted to try some drinks and dessert but maybe next time.

My friend and her 94 year old mother decided that we wanted to have Mexican food. Thus, we stopped by El Mariachi in Kapolei for lunch on Thursday, 4-10-25, at 12:30p. We were seated promptly and given our waters as well as an Horchata drink for me. The Horchata was sweetened nicely I enjoyed drinking the sweet rice milk drink flavored with cinnamon. We also had a basket of chips and salsa to have as we waited for our lunch. The chips were warm and crisp. The salsa was not spicy as well. If you want some more spice it's nice to see hot sauces on the table. I looked at the Specials on the wall and was pleased to see that they were serving Menudo. I ordered that. The soup was ever so flavorful and slightly spicy. They will give you a small platter with dried chili flakes, oregano, onions, and cumin. They didn't have lime though. The beef tripe was tender. There wasn't too much hominy and the red chili broth warmed me. I thoroughly enjoyed eating it with my 3 corn tortillas. You have the option of getting flour tortillas if you want. My friend ordered the Carne Asada plate with Jumbo shrimp. She enjoyed it with her rice and beans and flour tortillas. Her mother ordered the Senior dish that was composed of two tacos and rice and beans. We were very impressed with the quality of our meals that my friend and I decided to get take outs for dinner. Of course her mom packed up her meal to take home. She also enjoyed it. I ordered 2 chicken tacos with rice and beans with flour tacos to take home to my husband and since my friend raved about her Carne Asada plate I got that as well. I also added chips and salsa for our dinner. My friend also reordered the Carne Asada plate again for her take out with the addition of jumbo shrimp. While at home for dinner, my husband enjoyed his chicken tacos plate with rice and beans. I enjoyed the Carne Asado plate as well. I liked the addition of tomatoes and a dollop of guacamole and corn tortillas. The meat was flavorful. We will definitely return to El Mariachi again. I really enjoyed the Menudo soup the best and the next time I will try their Chile Verde. Delicioso!

One of not so many places that I can get close to authentic Mexican food on the islands. They don't disappoint and very friendly workers. They survived through the pandemic and I am so glad they are still in business.

21 July 25 Monday, 1 year later. Food quality and portions are consistent and delicious! The only difference is $3.50 charge for 2nd serving of salsa or $3.00 (better deal) for salsa and chips. Yellow = 3 combo, chile relleno, beef burrito, chx enchilada.$23.95 before tax Orange = El Campeano is same as last time, fantastic. $21.95 before tax

Food was good but I just wish the lengua was not chopped up ibti teeny tiny pieces. I prefer it in bigger pieces but I guess it's nit so practical. Prices are kinda high but the service is nice.

    Bean and cheese burrito

So I follow Foodbeast "eating every bean and cheese burrito on the planet" series haha, and I finally got the craving to get one. I recently moved back here from San Diego, and although I knew it wasn't going to exactly the same, the main things I was looking for was that it was simple and not too pricey (over $15). I ordered just the burrito (not a plate) from El Mariachi for takeout and it was $11.81 total. It's a pretty standard burrito so I was content, the service was nice, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the restaurant itself was chill with a good amount of space[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Shrimp ceviche, The shrimp is diced to oblivion. It doesn't match what I paid. It taste like tomato ceviche.

I love my local Mexican restaurant. The food is Traditional Mexica food, home cooking comfort food, and delicious. My favorites are the shrimp burrito and the Kearny Asada burrito and chips and guacamole. We are starting to come here at least twice a month. The food is a little bit on the higher price in, but worth the cost They give really good portions. The food is extremely comforting, they give you more than enough food for the cost and you will leave full. The restaurant is large. It's a two buildings, side by side. But they do not have outdoor seating. The aesthetics inside is typical Mexican decor. There is plenty of free parking, in the parking lot surrounding the restaurant. You'll find them, in the Safeway shopping center, right across the street from LNL Hawaiian barbecue. This food comes out quickly and the service is extremely friendly. They take orders over the phone but anything over $25. She will have to pay by credit card during your phone order.

Before that I had to go back inside to grab the queso because they forgot then I had to go back in AGAIN because they forgot the chips. After I arrive home I open my food and see the Fajitas with 3! Pieces of chicken, they were cold and bland, they also gave no silverware and gave me all beans no rice along with to sad and cold corn tortillas. I then Called customer service and the first assistant was rude and basically said that the chef had ran out of chicken so they couldn't give me more. I was then transferred to the manager of the store and she told me that I could drive back from Waikīkī to get more pieces of chicken but it's like how would you give me more chicken if you guys were out? And The queso dip was 20 DOLLARS, and the manger said that the 20 queso didn't include chips. Btw the queso cup was the size on a medium ice cream up. You could go anywhere else and get a LARGE cup of queso for 20 and it would be more. The manager then pretended the she couldn't hear me and hung up the call. I managed to call her back and she told me that I would have to contact DoorDash for a refund. 0/10 Horrible customer service. It is crazy how you treat customers like that when they are the ones KEEPING you in business. The manger definitely needs to have work on and needs to improve how she runs things in the restaurant. 0/10 The food was disappointing and disgusting. The fajitas were super bland and the beans smelled the like they were expiring and that's coming from someone who eats beans very often. The chicken was also bland and veggies along. The manger wouldn't refund me full and only said partially. How she handled the situation was not professional at ALL.

She thought they were delicious! The tacos were topped with slaw, cabbage, tomatoes, and an avocado salsa. The only thing I didn't quite enjoy was the horchata. After taking a few sips, I asked if I could switch it to a Jamaica drink instead. It was better, but it still didn't quite hit the spot for me. One thing I really appreciated was that we were served water immediately after being seated, in the cutest Corona cups! Another server also stopped by to check on us, which was a nice touch and showed great teamwork. Thank you for the fast and friendly service. We will definitely be back! We also watched another table order a margarita that completely stole the show. It was served with a little duck on top and was basically a giant pour-your-own cocktail for the entire table. After being seated, we waited about 5-7 minutes before our server came to our table. She took our drink and meal order, but our drinks didn't arrive until after our food was served. By then, we had been sitting at the table for approximately 45 minutes. Our server was very nice, but unfortunately the overall service was poor and lacked attentiveness. I was actually surprised that my husband still left a 20% tip. Sadly, the entire experience was frustrating and disappointing. I can't recommend this restaurant based on the service we received

Our server was really good, I ran to the car after getting seated so missed her name but had all our waters on the table when I came back in minutes later. She also refilled our waters frequently thru the night (idn't expect that on a busy Friday night & most servers anywhere aren't even that attentive when slow). I should've got her name, but she's a local, petite girl. Now to the food. The keiki pizza came out quick and none of the kids liked it. That was a first anywhere, they love pizza but felt it tasted like a not fully cooked microwave pizza. The rest of our food took longer to come out!, like 20 minutes but we had chips and salsa we snacked out...mmm (Got a refill bag to take home too). The med rare sirloin steak was really tasty but was so small. The menu says 6 Oz but looked like 5 tops (my picture angle makes it look bigger). When that little amount of food is given those ounces matter! The triple dipper was pretty good, I had chicken crispers (perfect), southwestern egg rolls (too runny that night) & fries (didn't taste or look like had any seasoning). The hot boneless chicken wings were a bit cold but had lots of sauce. It was loud as usual but we were in our own corner. It was very cold, that's why I ran to the car to get the kids blankets but I could've used one too lol. The restaurant was clean, but the women's restroom had water on the ground in the 1st stall that traveled to the sink and 2nd stall some. I didn't go in that one to see what the issue was, but i didn't hear anything running. Overall it was ok, but our server was awesome!
