It is a reason for people to bond while they bend. It is a place where people come to lift their spirits as much as lifting weights. I highly recommend Bay Strength to anyone looking for a way to get started on strength training without being intimidated by it! The trainers are great at providing the right mix of support, guidance and independence to let each person navigate their own journey. They go above and beyond to provide an open, accepting, and fun environment which makes the whole experience so much better! I've only been training here for a few months and I can already feel myself getting stronger every week. Big shoutout to Kelly and Katherine for being amazing trainers and for helping me get started on my strength training journey!

The coaches teach you and correct your form in a positive way that is so encouraging, you never feel self conscious. They'll help you with alternative exercises or modifications if you ever need it. It's also so nice to not have to plan out your workouts, since the coaches lay everything out for you. They make it easy so that you can just go in and have fun while working at your own pace. The absolute best part of this gym is the people. I've made so many friends and we're always laughing and chatting and being silly. We cheer each other on, celebrate PRs, and crack jokes between sets. It's a true community, and I always feel so uplifted every time I'm here. Joining Bay Strength was the best decision I've made in a really long time, and I'm so grateful to be a part of this beautiful place.

I looked forward to her classes every week because of her excitement for helping everyone, not matter their starting fitness level, find a way to be active, engage with the class with a variety of modifications to choose from, her sense of fun, playfulness, and creativity, and the thoughtfulness she put into planning each class. She thought of fun themes for exercises-- like creating a set of exercises that involves going to the beach, surfing, and doing burpees and starfish jumps. I don't know if the story made sense-- but it did make the exercises more fun. Anne has a spark for creativity and making activity and exercise fun. I looked forward to Anne's class every week and can only imagine that her training work is even better!

I would highly recommend Anne and I'm excited to keep working with her! I wake up every morning that I work out with her excited compared to in the past I would dread having to work out. This has definitely helped my confidence and mental health in addition to getting stronger and more fit physically.

They've adapted to teaching a mix of in-person and online classes and they've done an excellent job of making things challenging while keeping workouts accessible and adaptable as needed for everyone's personal situation. All of the trainers here are excellent, but most of the classes I take are with Deanna. Training with her is an incredibly positive experience--she is completely committed to helping her clients succeed, and not just in the gym. And on those days when my tank is empty or I'm not with it for whatever reason she's completely understanding and is able to adjust things to meet me where I'm at so I still get a good workout in. A lot of it may be behind the scenes, but she works just as hard as her clients at helping them achieves their goals. Phoenix Gym is an incredibly positive, supportive, and judgement-free zone, and being a member here has been a life-changing experience.

Bootcamp has it's own deal. I came here for a free trial bootcamp class (and I'm hooked and coming back on Friday). Luckily it was 6 ladies and myself. I really liked that it was small and everyone was friendly. It started with some jumprope, followed by push ups (and repeat 5 times). Then we got our hands wrapped and put on the boxing gloves! We hit punching bags. Pretty fun to feel like Muhammed Ali. :) my knuckles are red. Boxing is only on Wednesdays. Then we did squats in between the different types of boxing moves. Then we got out some yoga mats and did different types of crunches. Sadly I forgot where my abs once were :( but I'm hoping to find them soon. Anyway, tons of fun!

From the very first time I attended a training session with Patrick on parkour strengthening and conditioning at Apex Movement Norcal, I was completely impressed. Patrick's instructions are very clear and easy to understand; the demonstrations are spot on; and his expectations of me when he asks me to do the movements and exercises are spelled out so clearly that I feel safe and secure doing the exercises myself. His attention to proper technique and correct form is so refreshing that I have the utmost confidence, that if I follow his instructions, there is very little room for error and the risk of injury to myself is greatly minimized. He explains anatomy, physiology and kinesiology in such layman's terms that I could understand what he means. He is so down-to-earth I never once felt this dude is "just trying to B.S. me and show off that he knows a lot of useless stuff." In fact, every word that comes out of his mouth makes so much sense. Yeah he is that awesome that I decided he is worth every penny to get one-on-one sessions with him which I am doing now. And I highly recommend anyone serious about training to get on his schedule while you still can.

I must admit, I was a bit intimidated going to my first session with Patrick, (partially because of my punk brother for teasing me,) but because Patrick is super strong and graceful due to being a powerlifter, highland games athlete and a modern dancer. Patrick has a skill for explaining things clearly and simply, without confusing me with extraneous details. He was very encouraging and gave me lots of feedback on my form. The other lifters there were also really nice and fun to be around. It was an absolute blast working out and training with Patrick.
