    mussels & sw potato fries
    Ruth D.

Wolfville is a university town and I'm sure that many, if not all enjoy the ales brewed right at this location. Admittedly, I always focus on the food - in this case very traditional and tasty pub fare and more often than not, I stick to water. That said, sitting on the patio on a bright and warm summer's day, eating delicious mussels that are served with sweet potato fries and a curry mayo, I did have one of their own beers, which certainly tasted just fine. In the summer, the patio is the place to sit and it's mostly filled with locals and tourists. Once the end of August rolls around, make that students and professors. No matter what the season, there's always a crowd, but the place is huge, so no worries about finding a seat.

Kids friendly restaurant (we sat in the back, not the Pub part). The waitress was super friendly and quick with our orders. We were a group of 7, including 3 kids. She came first with kids cups with straws, later with some colouring books and crayons. Then she showed up with these animal face plates for kids. Our kids were wowed by all the different things she kept bringing. Food-wise, very generous portion. My mom ordered the County Cork Club, and it was massive. I'm impressed with the veggie side that came with her order. Real fresh raw veggies and lots of it! I had their hot chicken wings, pretty standard, could be hotter. Our friend had the peanut butter pineapple burger and said it was good. Our kids enjoyed their sweet potato fries, and my husband, in particular liked the dipping sauce that came with it. It's got some curry taste to it. Very different yet we couldn't stop dipping!

This was my maple bacon burger. It's missing the bacon because we assumed it was my son's "kid-burger" & he gave the bacon away.

Hugely disappointed with my Maple Bacon Burger from the limited time menu. A strip of bacon & a very thin slice of cheese does not a $12 burger make. My son's cheese burger off the kids menu was exactly the same minus the piece of bacon. $12 is a fine price for a quality pub burger but I feel ripped off. Next time I'll order off the kids menu.

I'm afraid to admit this, but Paddy's does kind of seem like the place where this sort of thing is okay: Paddy's was an ill-fated, unplanned second stop on a night that accidentally became a makeshift pub crawl through Wolfville and Port Williams. My memories of it are pleasant but hazy. As they should be. For a pub, it's bright, clean and welcoming like a proper Irish-inspired watering hole. A nice patio sits directly on the main drag of downtown Wolfville for optimum people watching, while inside tables are roomy and well-spaced out so that no drunken conversation must be censored. Throughout the night we interacted with a handful of servers, each impeccably attentive, helpful but also just cool people who didn't seem to be deterred by the fact that we arrived in a 3am state at around 9pm. And the reason for our visit? A rumoured blueberry beer that simply must be tried. And the biggest letdown? Our server telling us that the brewmaster decided to switch to a lime beer. Yeah. They scrapped a uniquely Nova Scotian twist on beer for Bud Light Lime... Needless to say, we tried their pale ale which was delicious but nowhere as cool as the blueberry would have been. Thus? I hold the coveted fifth star hostage.

Always a go to spot as food and service are great. My favourite is the pan fried halibut with a salad.

The ambiance is very comfortable, you can seat yourself at any open space you'd like. Their food is good, their burgers are really good, I quite enjoy their fried chicken sandwich. Their fish and chips are also really good, with big pieces of fish and crispy fries. The nachos are really good, made the mistake of ordering the "regular" size and it was too big for just 2 of us, but it was for sure tasty with fresh ingredients. We also like their deep fried pepperoni with the mustard dipping sauce it comes with. Another part I really enjoy with this place is their homebrewed beers. I personally really enjoy the blueberry beer they have (I believe during the summertime) and the raven ale. You can get a growler of their beers to take home and enjoy and it is very affordable, I believe $15 for a growler of the raven ale. Parking is street parking, but if the streets are full, which it rarely is, there is the town parking lot not too far from this place. Oh, and I should add, this place also has a pretty decent arcade/games room upstairs and a banquet hall to be rent or host events like a comedy show. Service is great, the servers are very pleasant and the food comes out quick and hot.

None of the beers are all that good. I've tried regularly in hopes that my mind changes. The 'Big Stink' is basically the only drinkable but nothing special at all. Don't spend your money on a flight! The service here is completely hit and miss. Certain staff seem to be decent while others seem completely uninterested in being there - including the owner himself! In the half dozen times we've come in, I don't think we've seen the owner chat or acknowledge anyone who isn't a regular. He seems very socially awkward which is a weird quality for someone running a brewery. The dynamic between staff is very obviously awkward as they don't chat or seem to have any rapport at all. The atmosphere also isn't very inviting. Lighting is very dim and table sizes are hugely awkward. Don't sit at the bar top at the windows - the stools are rickety! The patio takes the cake for being the most useless use of 2x4s you could ever imagine! Enjoy two boards cutting into your thighs and getting splinters. You likely won't get too uncomfortable because you'll leave before you wait too long to even be served out there! If you come in, a sign asks you to wait to be seated. Don't assume someone will seat you - the bartender will yell from behind the bar to 'sit wherever you'd like'. My favourite seating are the booths that are down the aisle to the kitchen right outside the (very outdated) washrooms! Can't imagine whose idea that was! While the food quality/menu has gotten slightly better in the last two years, the prices have gone way up while portions have gone way down! Not worth it to eat here and drink mediocre beer. Overall, we haven't had one really great experience here even after multiple visits. If you're looking for way better beer, an inviting atmosphere with a great patio, head a little down the 201 to Lunn's Mill; their food is just typical pub food, but your experience overall will be MUCH better if you're looking to enjoy your evening!

I made my order today at 11:06 AM (They open at 11:00 AM), a couple of donair egg rolls because they look greasy and that's what I was feeling. Nothing over the top and certainly not a big order. 11:55 AM rolls around when I decide to give the store a call back and double-check on my order. The woman seems friendly and when I asked her what of my order she said it was good to go, if the courier was there to pick it up. Wait, courier? You guys dont have your own delivery driver? What kind of pizza place is this? The driver always gets to your door boasting about how good it all smelt in his car on the way over. Half the time I can talk to these drivers because they know the greasy sensation of what exactly I'm about to eat. If the driver is not even a part of the business then I certainly cannot relate to this guy. "Mmm. Smells good." The fake delivery driver says as I open my front door. "Get off my property you dont even know what you're smelling." I say. So I'm sitting here rolling around waiting for this courier to arrive. 12:35 PM I call them back.
