Cody, the storefront manager extraordinaire, was informative, fun, and the perfect host to our group. Cody gave us a tour of what was currently brewing in the back of the house and enthusiastically answered all our questions. I loved the beer flight served on an apple core shaped cutting board along with a small snack. Daily specials and mystery beers and brews add to the fun! The Core is the perfect addition to this University small town for a quick drink or a leisurely bev and board game. Oh and the washrooms were immaculate!

You can still get coffee all day long as long as they're open. Don't bring a group because there's only one table with two church pews that can accommodate 6 people. Everything else is pretty much good for 1-3 people with a couple of stools at the bar. I'd guess about a max of 20 -25 seats total are available inside, but if it's nice, there's additional seating outside. Try their in-house brews or something from their rotating taps. They don't have food, other than hors d'oeuvres to satisfy the liquor laws so expect to order pickled eggs, pretzels and pickles. So don't come hungry and then complain about the food when you're coming to a brew house. The one staff was doing an amazing job serving and thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting tables after each patron so it's a pretty safe place to come despite its size. There's no table device right now so get up to the bar to order a flight or a pint!

With nice range of beer ranging from ales to porter. There is a regular selection of 4 core brews (Planters Pale Ale, Rojo Mojo Red Ale, Blue Heron Extra Special Bitter, and Port in a Storm Porter) with an interesting seasonal beer (the most recent one was Dussel-Port Altbier) to keep things interesting. Brewmaster Randy Lawrence is friendly and cares about the beer that he makes. For locals there are refillable growlers (1 L bottles) and there are individual 650 mL bottles. They also have party kegs if you need more beer. Being able to have locally-brewed beer made with local ingredients is one of the very nice parts of living in a beautiful agricultural area with people who are committed to making great things where they live.

We expected it to be harsh, especially since it smelled strong, but was surprisingly mild and really good so we picked up a few cans. Almost everything is available in cans or bottle to go and their selection is HUGE so I'm sure there is something for everyone. Overall, a really nice place in a beautiful town. Lots of street parking but this town is super touristy so it can be hard to find a parking spot. Expect to park and walk a little bit most days.

They may not have a ton of signage on the road, but the red roof of the brewhouse is sign enough. There's fields of lines for hops, currently unused due to drainage issues, we were told, the brewhouse and acres of other fields. Our stop in the brewhouse got us some samples and paid 4oz tasters of their beer, and I got a 1L growler of their wheat beer for $13, including the bottle deposit. While they don't take returns, they will refill any brand of growler, for a very reasonable price of $6-7. There's also several kinds of lavender-scented beauty and hygiene products for sale, since that's one of their other main crops. The friendly owners suggested we take a stroll down the path to see their pigs, turkeys, and chickens, and it wasn't only my 3 year old niece that enjoyed this. If you're touring through the valley-ish area, you should definitely make a stop in at Meander River.

It is definitely off the beaten path but that is part of its charm. It is a family run farm and brewery. I am not sure if you can get a more "local" beer. They grow their own hops (among a few other things) and brew it on site. I am not a beer drinker, but what I tried was nice. My husband really liked the Honey Brown Ale. I was lucky enough to have a taste of their Cider. It was excellent - super flavorful and crisp. I would have taken some with me but it wasn't all ready yet. They also grown their own lavender and have different lavender products. Aside from a great product, it was very interesting to hear the family's story. The farm has been in the family for a long time although the building and brewery is much newer. We ended up staying for quite a long time hanging out with Alan, Brenda and Campbell. Very hospitable and their passion is self-evident. They also offer farm tours and heck you can sign up for a hand-on experience. Highly recommend! It was a unique experience.

Speaking of parties, this is THE place to hang out on the weekends, especially Friday. Check their social media pages to see what's going on and check out the music, food truck and themed event. The patio sits right over the river so you can watch the tide come in right from your seat with your beer. There is lots on tap. Everything is free to try and then you can head outside to the HUGE patio on varying levels to enjoy your pint of your favourite sample. Lots of merch in store if that's your thing.
