Everyone had a really great time picking their colors and doing the glass blowing. The pumpkins came out really great and the pickup process was super easy! My one complaint would be that we were such a large group (we had 2 groups back to back) and I was in the 2nd group- you could tell the staff got tired (very understandable since they had to make 20+ pumpkins) and they didn't do a great job explaining the process ahead of time. On the upside, they were great about talking you through it in the moment. It was pretty dummy proof since the staff did most of the process for you, I don't think I can say I actually did "glass blowing" which I think is fine. Overall, would recommend this for events (but maybe smaller groups) and the staff is really skilled. They have a shop up front which I would recommend checking out!

We returned again in 2024, but this time for a homeschool pottery class. I absolutely love that they have planned days for homeschoolers to come in and create different projects. The pricing for that was better and again the kids enjoyed themselves.. The owner and other ladies were kind during both of our interactions. There were great options to choose from to paint and they have some other activities as well. Jessica was the lovely lady who helped us and gave great information and instructions. They had a lot of different tools and techniques that I hadn't seen before. I also really appreciated that they encouraged us to take the bottles of paint needed to our table. A previous place I had gone to, filled our palettes for us and told us to ask for more if needed which was very frequent and difficult when it was busy. After multiple failed attempts to order a 27 x 40" movie poster frame on the Michael's website, I…read morevisited the store in person. End result: successful - and pleasant, in-store purchase. I entered the store frustrated, doubtful I'd get the frame I needed, struggling to pull up an email about the canceled orders, over- explaining to the staff at the door, etc. (hey, at least I'm self aware). Edgar to the rescue! This friendly manager was quick to assist. He walked me to the frames, helped me find the correct size, honored the price on the shelf (several dollars less than on his price finder contraption), AND it was BOGO so I got two. Edgar carried my frames to the register, set them down at a self-checkout kiosk, where he noticed a one poster frame was bowed. He instantly elected to go back and get me one in perfect condition while I finished checking out. Now THAT'S good looking out and going the extra mile. I am so grateful for a fantastic in-store experience and can't wait to get my precious movie poster into its frame and up on my wall!! Paint On Pottery is a great activity to do with your friends. We get a small group of 3-4 together…read more(the size of the tables) and paint while catching up. There are a lot of pieces to choose from, from figurines to dishware to ornaments. There are also plenty of colors to choose from. For first-timers, I wish there were more instructions given on adding layers of paint to make sure the color comes through. We were given that instruction as a heads up when we finished. Luckily, we did enough layers. After painting, the wait is usually a few days before they give you a call that your piece is ready for pick up. It's such a blast (and if you're with W&M, you get a discount)!

I took my mom here as a Christmas present and we both had a blast! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. We had about 12 other people in our class, and although we each painted the same picture and followed the same instructions from the teacher, all of our paintings looked slightly different but equally as impressive! The calendar on their website displays photos of the different paintings that correspond with the dates they are being offered. Just choose one you like, make sure the date works with your schedule, and purchase it directly online. There are a variety of options to choose from; everything from cartoonish images to Monet-inspired paintings. If you're a diehard fan of certain Virginia colleges, they also offer University of Richmond, VCU, and JMU themes. When you arrive, everything is already set up for the painting (colors of paints needed, brushes, and a blank canvas). There are aprons at each seat as well. The studio itself is a large open space with long tables towards the back where the painting actually occurs. The teacher we had was super friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxed- everyone was chatting the whole time. Painting AND wine?! Spirited Art has partnered with the Wine Loft, which is directly next-door, so there is at least one designated server per class. Not only is there a list of wines available (many at $5/glass), but there is also a painting-friendly menu of snacks that are easily eaten during the class. I think you are free to order anything from the Wine Loft's menu if you'd like, but they've created a more streamlined menu of suggestions conducive to the painting class. To help the servers keep track of orders, they use a cool system of numbered poker chips that attach to your easel with Velcro. I will definitely be back to test my skill on a different painting (and enjoy some more wine, of course)!

I think the wine gave my inner artist a false sense of confidence but I definitely had a lot of fun. The instructors will take you step by step to create your own unique version of the chosen picture for that day. They have templates you can trace to get started if you are not comfortable free-handing the design. Our instructor Kerri made sure to tell us that these paintings are ours and so you are free to make your art as personal as you want. We were painting a funky peacock and if you wanted a pink peacock instead of a blue one go for it! I appreciate this free flowing format to the class, it allows you to truly love your work. Everyone gets together for a group picture at the end of the class in front of their Color Wheel. Spirited Art in right next to Wine Loft so they had a waitress available to us for drinks and food. You can also BYOB for a $10 per bottle cork fee. I saw tons of other neat pictures on the walls so there may be more painting classes in my future. I also got a rewards card which will earn you points towards a free class. Each is priced separately and they have staff on hand to help you with the items. In addition to the crafts there is a basic beverage and food menu. They also have weekly recurring events. The one that I've enjoyed is the Friday toddler time: They read a book and then have a simple craft to do that pertains to the story. The whole thing is probably only 10 minutes, but it's completely free, so you can't expect too much. :)
