Technically, I did not visit Paint & Sip, but I have purchased a couple of virtual, pre-recorded painting sessions. While I would have liked painting in person, the pre-recorded sessions are very nice. Hey, one can paint in his/her underwear while drinking a glass/bottle of wine or having a delicious homemade cocktail. The instructor for the two sessions (I believe her name is Matilda) seems like a very friendly and fun painter. Ordering the paint supplies was pretty much a breeze, and the company ships pretty much everywhere in the US. For our virtual event, we had one participant who lived in California, and I believe that she received her materials within a few days. The kits come with a canvass, assorted colors of paint, an apron, 3-4 brushes, and a mixing plate. You have to provide your own beverages. ;) I have to say that Paint & Sip definitely makes sure that you have more than enough painting materials and supplies. In fact, I only needed to order the pre-recorded video for the second event because we still had enough paint from the first one. Maybe I'll even make it to the studio for an event. read more

Had an enjoyable and relaxing time on a Sunday afternoon. I was actually nervous beforehand, because I've never painted anything detailed before, but the instructor Daniel put us at ease, he was super friendly and showed us exactly what to do while encouraging our own creativity. The glass of wine helped me relax too. This is an old building that used to be all painter's studios and unfortunately, it's not wheelchair accessible because there are four stairs to the entrance, but it does have an elevator once you're inside and bathrooms on every floor. Is this place a scam? Were my expectations too high? I thought we were working towards painting the advertised work, however, with the instructions we got we didn't even come close. I could've gotten the canvas, paint, brushes and done it at home for about $20 and I probably would've gotten the same result if I had just tried it in my own. It genuinely felt like an elementary school art class. Daniel, the instructor, breezed through the instructions and not even his work looked like the original. If it was a painting that we couldn't actually accomplish during the allotted time, don't advertise it and just have us do something that we could actually finish properly and be proud of. This was such a waste of money, it was actually laughable. At the end, everyone seemed to have the same amount of confusion when Daniel stated class was over after continuously stating that we would eventually clean the piece up. If you actually want instructions that will lead to a good final product, this is not the place. read more

It is currently 7:15PM and my boyfriend and I are waiting outside for someone to get us which i don't think anyone will. The class was supposed to start at 7:00PM and we came early to make sure we got here ontime. We took a trek and time off to attend this class which is a major disappointment. I left a message and called the number on the window to no avail. No email was sent to the group informing if there was a cancellation. We could've spent the evening doing something else instead of waiting for nothing. Very disappointed and I want my money back as I came from California for this event and was supposed to be our date night. read more

Came here on a Friday at 7pm - packed class! The instructor, Ana, was so nice and patient. She reiterated that we're not here to judge each other's paintings but paint however our heart takes us. For those (like myself) who need detailed instructions, Ana was super helpful in giving us pointers for dimensions and proportions. Music was fun crowd pleasers too!! Ana was also very quick with getting people more paint or anything else they needed. My boyfriend and I were both new to paint and sip and arrived early to get seats right near the front. We came in August during the heat wave and even with the AC on blast, it was still a bit hot in the classroom. You will probably be sweaty but just embrace it and try to have a good time! Wear clothes you don't care too much about! We were warned that the paint is acrylic and DOES stain. However, they do have aprons and I was wearing a fairly nice jumpsuit and got no paint on myself. The other students were really fun and friendly. Several had been drinking prior to the class. It can get rowdy. But always fun! We got a free glass of white wine with our ticket purchase! Tickets were $50. I loved that paint & sip puts on their website what they'll be painting during each class. Helped me pick which class to sign up for! We will DEFINITELY be back! Loved paint & sip. I took my friend here for her birthday present! We both had the best time!! They provide you with a free glass of wine when you arrive then they have wine for purchase or you can bring your own! We had a cherry blossom and moon light setting we were supposed to paint, but my friend and I both wanted to add a NY skyline silhouette to the painting as well, the lady teaching the class was very supportive of the idea and helped us bring our idea to reality! Had a great time at this event last night. 1st time for me and sort of unexpected but turned out to be worth the visit. Had a issue finding the location at first but once we were inside it was all good. Got there kinda late and had to catch up to the paint process. We used some cool equipment and people were definitely having fun. They had bottles of wine and red wine for sale if you didn't bring anything with you. After a few cups of champagne, I was laughing at my friend who was making a mess of things lol. I spilled some paint water on my sneakers but that god it was a water based paint and not oil . Overall a great experience more suited for couples or close friends. Definitely worth a visit and don't forget to bring a drink .... it will enhance the experience. read more

My book club/social club wanted to have a "night out" but still have some wine and feel a little cultured. We made the right choice with Paint & Sip Studio New York! The ENTIRE process, from soup to nuts was so amazing-- we will DEFINITELY be back. From the first inquiry I made about pricing/availability, Yaffa reached RIGHT OUT to me to help me book my party. She was quick to respond to my questions on email, and I am sorry we never got to meet. The booking/payment process for a private party is super easy too. The location is so convenient, right off the 1 train on 80th street and Broadway, and on a hot, muggy NYC night, the cool (cool-temperature and cool-neat) painting space at 246 Broadway was a delight to arrive to. There is a space to the side for your wine/food, and a little fridge to store chilled wine/beer if you need to. We even had Patsy's Pizza delivered, and they came right up to the studio! Talk about convenient. The painting experience was so fun, and allowed for all of us to chat while also following our instructor Igor's lead. Igor was so patient with us wine-drinkers, waiting so kindly while we got up and moved about or got up to refill our cups to move on to the next step in the painting process or reminding us to clean our brushes/giving us new paint/ helping us mix colors or guide our brushes. Thank goodness Igor was so great, because we were all following his lead in order to create our magical masterpieces. The event was scheduled for 2 hours, but Igor let us stay until we were "happy with our paintings"-- so generous. The space was chill, the vibe was great, the playlist was very chick-friendly, and we had such a wonderful time. SO happy with our Paint & Sip experience! read more

Went on 1/6/24 for a friend's birthday. They state on their site to arrive early b/c they start promptly at 7pm. No exceptions. Information that should be expressed on the confirmation email they send the moment they take money from your account. Not only did the class begin close to 8pm, we couldn't see his technique as he spoke/painted since we were seated on the left side of the room near the door. All we were able to see was his back as he explained what to do. I even asked him if he could do the next set of steps standing on the right side of the canvas so we could at least see SOMETHING, but he mumbled something and stood right in the same spot blocking the canvas so we were pretty much guessing throughout the entire class. He was impatient and seemed annoyed rushing through the rest of the painting. You're also squeezed close to people where you have to either fear you'll get paint on their clothes, or vice versa, & the brushes they provide are worn with missing bristles. I was happy to be with my friends but this was not a positive experience. There are other businesses that offer the same paint & drink and I'd suggest giving them your money instead. read more

If you're looking for a more intimate paint and byob night, this is your place. When I attended, it was a smaller class than what I've seen from other paint and wine companies and to be honest, I preferred it. The instructor was great. Helpful, as well as, entertaining. She kept the class engaged the entire time. I also enjoyed the playlist she had on the speakers. Nice, cool feel. As if you were painting in your own home. The studio is a little hole in the wall, but it added to the intimate class setting. I also really love the choices they have day to day as far as the artwork. They were pictures you'd like to have up in your home. They also sell alcohol and snacks there so no need to trek it somewhere else in case you're running late! My mom and sister were visiting me from out of town and I brought them here on a Friday night. Dean was our instructor, he was awesome (and his playlist was on point!). It was a sold out class, including several couples and a birthday bunch. The atmosphere was fun and relaxed and it was so interesting to see how everyone's paintings came out...mine was "abstract" to say the least... Anyway, we had a wonderful time and obviously at the end you have a lovely memento to keep. I hung mine over my circuit box in my hallway that has been driving me nuts, such an eye sore haha. Dean was so much fun and so accommodating with a room full of people getting their drink on. A girlfriend of mine invited me to celebrate her birthday with her at Paint & Sip, I was happy that they had a special on Living Social which led to me paying a discounted price. Her party was scheduled for 7 p.m. and the instructions specifically stated to arrive 15 minutes before the time. So imagine my surprise when I arrived to crickets at 6:45 p.m. Granted my friend and her other friends were late but everyone else was late as well? Well I could not hold this against the business but I was amused. The business is location on a higher floor in a building so you may miss the place or feel lost if you are not clear about this. Once I entered the room I was hit my the strong smell of alcohol. While I understand that it is a paint and sip place I was not expecting that the place would have this scent upon entering; even bars do not smell like this. At 7:05 p.m. other people arrived....at 7:15 p.m. more than half the room was still empty and then the class finally started. I was disappointed that the class did not start on time and felt that the instructor waiting for the late people to show up reinforced that their show up 15 minutes early policy was for suckers like me. By the end of the two hour session the room was packed; in fact too packed. I think that they need a bigger space. I kept fearing that I was going to get paint on someone and found the chairs to be uncomfortable. I made the mistake of visiting the bathroom, by the entrance were trash bags which just made it seem dodgy. I recommend going to a poor upscale place as I found this place to be on the trashy side of things. read more

What an amazing event! I planned this event for my staff of 24 and it was all we hoped and so much more! The owners and booking staff were so accommodating and always answered my emails so quickly. Where do I begin? I I wanted to take my staff out to thank them for all the hard work at our medical offices. I wanted something special. I called a few of these painting studios but all I got was excuses and complicated answers. Then I found this one. The lovely woman answered the phone , answered all my questions and booked the space for our large party. Everything was taken care of. The art instructor was great! The wine was great.
