Great first tee program for children. And as they start to get older they have fun mini three hole tournaments for the children. And the program is very very inexpensive and fun for the kids. They even get a ID card with there picture on it which allows them free range balls for the season. The course itself is a nine hole layout with par 3s and 4s. I came to Paint Branch Golf Complex for a Father's Day outing with my husband and son. My son recently fell in love with golf and wanted to treat his father to a special day on the course. Unfortunately, what should have been a wonderful family memory was completely ruined by the behavior of one of their course marshals, older black gentlemen, he said his name was Mr. Smith. When we arrived, we were upfront and told Mr. Smith that we had only played on a golf course a few times. Instead of using that information to be helpful or patient, he used it as a reason to single us out and hover over our group for the entire round. We understood the pace of play expectations and made every effort to keep up, but the constant monitoring felt more like harassment than course management. When I accidentally drove onto the green, instead of calmly explaining the mistake, Mr. Smith became hostile and condescending. He spoke down to me and my son, refused to let me speak, and physically snatched the key out of our cart. There was no professionalism, no patience, and no basic human respect. We were paying customers on a family outing, not children being disciplined. We did not finish our round. We gathered our belongings and left. We drove up the road to the University of Maryland Golf Course, where we were greeted warmly and treated with complete professionalism by Director Jeff Maynor. That experience reminded us what a welcoming golf environment actually looks like, and it is a standard Paint Branch clearly needs to work toward. I am a federal employee at NASA Headquarters, and many of my colleagues frequent this course. I will be sharing this experience with them. I will also be reporting this matter to the Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation. Golf should be accessible and enjoyable for everyone, including families and newer players. The way we were treated does not reflect that value at all. read more

fun course, I play here often. Brought some beginner friends who were playing for the first time, and one of the starter staff (an older gentleman) absolutely ruined our time, and my friends first ever golf experience. He rushed us and got angry we weren't going fast enough, even though we had both T times so we weren't holding anyone up. He followed us in the cart the entire time making comments like "I can tell you have never played before" and straight up calling my friends bad. He kept giving "tips" and just hating on them, when all we wanted was to just have them try their best and be left alone. We finished 9 holes in right under an hour.... that's how fast he made us go. ABSOLUTELY awful makes me consider not wanting to come back. read more

Terrible experience, the ranger was extremely aggressive and treated us with disrespect. Yelled at two of our players while they tried to tee off, and told one of them they had no clue how to play golf when it was their first time playing. Followed us around the course and made the entire experience extremely tense. Overall, I would not recommend this course, as there is the UMD golf course 5 minutes down the road, which is far superior. read more

I booked a tee time in person for both of my junior golfers to play one afternoon, however when they were ready to play the starter would not allow me to simply walk along as a spectator or even pay for the privilege to do so. Management stated that I had to rent a set of clubs and pay for a round for myself in order to simply keep watch on my kids at this public municipal facility in Prince Georges County. What is worse is that the guys in the pro shop didn't tell me this requirement when booking the tee times otherwise I would have come with my clubs or had the juniors play at another course. read more

I'm a new golfer, okay well I wouldn't call myself a golfer but I went to visit for the first time to use the driving range and it went great! My only issue is that there wasn't a tee on the mat so I didn't get to use my driver but other than that it was nice with clean facilities!! I'll definitely be going back!! read more

The balls at the driving range are the most motley collection I have ever encountered including some that might very well be called antique. The way they hit was entirely variable thus limiting comparisons from shot to shot. I also came on a Thursday morning when the range is closed for maintenance. This should be better noted online. My fiancé and I were turned away because I do not have my own set of golf clubs (we share). Apparently this is due to insurance reasons(??). The rule is posted by the door to the club house, but there is nothing posted about this rule online, which would have saved us the drive. Have never encountered such a rule. Visiting friends and a round of Golf was an idea. This place was the closest and we had a BLAST! Great prices, short course and played along an easy going vibe. $8 to play 9 holes of golf. $10 to rent a set of Golf Clubs. $10 for a bucket of 102 balls (Driving Range) With a lucky beautiful day and my first time playing under 50* degrees Fahrenheit, this course made my game easy and comforting. It's not a hard course with only 2 water hazards and I was able to play them all with the same ball! I'm very happy to say I scored under 50 for the first time. (Yes, I'm no pro... don't even know what handicap means, other than the parking spaces). Overall, I would like to play again or hit some balls. Maybe have a beer while doing it too. (BYOB) read more

Jerry(I think that's his name.) was super helpful getting me started and pointed in the right direction. Other staff present was also very friendly. The facilities were very clean and accommodating. Nice, inexpensive executive course inside the beltway. Deals for locals and seniors. Rental clubs and pull carts are available. Five par 3s, four par 4s. Usually in good condition but the greens are pretty slow if you are used to upscale courses. Wide open, but really bad shots can wind up in a pond or creek. There is a range on the other side of the clubhouse, and a First Tee learning center. The clubhouse has a small golf shop and a limited selection of snacks and drinks. Very flat, very walkable, good variation in the holes. Just the thing for a stroll through the park, punctuated with golf shots, on a balmy afternoon. read more

Both of the gentlemen at the Clubhouse were so nice - they explained everything I needed to know and introduced me to one of the pros when I mentioned I was interested in lessons. Of all of the golf courses and driving ranges in the area, this place is always full of surprises. The customer service is subpar. The women of the facility have treated customers well since i first started coming here. However, the gentlemen in the club house lack personality and also seem to arbitrarily come up with restrictions to keep you from playing. I wish customer service became a larger focal point here. read more

I learned the game at this particular venue when this was a Jack Nickolaus property in the early 90s. When PG county took over the management of this facility let's just say EVERYTHING went to shit. The old dudes that run this course just make up operating hours. While the course is almost always in decent shape the staff here are obnoxious. Making up their own rules and hours of operations. Even during COVID they fail to effectively communicate with their patrons. If your in a pinch, play 9 here on a weekday. If not, drive the 2 minutes to University of Maryland's Golf Course, better facility and more than competent staff. Otherwise this course proves itself to be a weigh station for old retired fogies who have nothing better to do then make up their own rules and piss off actual golfers whom know what this facility was, a legitimate practice facility with a convenient 9 hole course. PG County would do well by auditing this facility and ensure staff are properly trained and able to do their jobs. That aside, just don't spend money here. They're are a dozen other facilities I could suggest. read more

This is the perfect spot for a decent 9 hole day or a quick 18. It's a small course but it's well maintained and the staff is extremely friendly. Also very affordable. The driving range has nice mats. I only wish they had a grassed area for the driving range but there are grassed chipping areas. read more

This place is horrible. Spend your money elsewhere, they clearly don't want your money. You are not allowed to bring beer on the course if you're under 40, according to the guy working. I was not allowed to buy more than 3 beers there, because the worker made up his own rule due to the fact that I'm 22. The worker initially wouldn't serve myself or my friend because we have vertical PA licenses (all PA licenses are vertical). One group of kids caused a scene at the golf course awhile ago and now apparently everyone else is getting punished for it. Once that whole fiasco in the clubhouse got figured out and we were loading our cart to finally golf, that worker was watching us like a hawk and told us that you can't golf on the course with two people and one bag (my friend doesn't own clubs) because of "insurance reasons"? My friend has golfed there several times in the last two summers and has never had an issue like this. On top of everything, the system wasn't working to get a refund, so we're not sure if we actually will get our money back. Seriously, spend more money for a way better experience elsewhere. read more

This is one of my favorite short game, executive courses to play a quick round either alone or with others. A good mixture of par 3 and par 4 holes. The fairways are generally wide and not a lot of obstacles and well maintained for a public course. Great course for the beginner to build confidence and for the more experienced to practice their short game. Staff has always been very friendly and helpful. Can't beat the cost either! read more

With this course jammed into such a busy cramped area this is a good choice if you are in the area. Close to University of Maryland and does get some use but you can get a tee time. Be careful with timing of the University sports schedule when traffic can get THICK. Nice part is if you play during the fall you have a chance of listening to the Terps play n the stadium while you play the course. I would recommend giving it a try when in the are but not making a special vacation trip. read more
