As a returning customer, I went to Voorpret Nail Bar on Thursday, May 28th, to get four dip nails repaired for $25. While the technician was very pleasant, the quality of the work was highly disappointing. Two hours later, I noticed a visible gap between two of the repairs and my natural nails. Trapped moisture in gaps like this can easily lead to an infection. Because of this safety issue, I now have to spend more money to get it fixed properly at a different salon. Used to love this place. They've done a great job on my nails over the years. Unfortunately, the last few times I've been there, it was hard not to notice how dirty everything is. The technicians' stations are gross. There's dirt in the corners. The last time I was there, I sat down for my manicure and there were nail clippings all over the station and the "clean" towel on the station. That's just disgusting. I think they need to do a massive deep clean and then work harder to keep it that way. They really do a nice job on nails, but I won't be back until they get better with cleaning. read more

I had a pretty bad experience coming here yesterday with my friend from an older, Chinese woman that works there. Not sure if she's the manager or not, but it would be pretty depressing if she is. My friend and I went in to get our nails done together and the old woman working there decided to sit my friend first, even though she was aware that I was ready and my friend wasn't yet (my friend commented on this later). Anyway, she left me standing there awkwardly for a while until another woman working there told me to sit down on one of the chairs. I waited for about 15+ mins, sitting far away from my friend, until I was moved to another chair and Ivy (I believe her name is) came over to do my nails. I've gone to her once before and she's always been very kind to me. She did an amazing job like the last time I was there, but when we were done, my friend told me everything. She explained that the old woman doing her nails hurt her finger while buffering and never apologized or disinfected the wound. And before she hurt her, she told my friend that she'd give her a discount, but not to let me know about :( I usually follow my instinct on these things because it's happened before, and I definitely felt she was discriminating against me since the moment I walked in. Anyway, my nails turned out amazing, but my friend was pretty upset about how she wasn't given many color options for her nails, how unprofessional the old woman was by hurting her and making comments like that about me, and pressuring her to get gel nails. Apparently, she also started cleaning the cuticle or whatever after she already did her acrylics and nail polish. As much as I like Ivy, that old woman made the experience pretty bad for both of us, so we're definitely never coming back to that place again. I don't know what her name is, but she seemed to be the oldest one there and I'd avoid her. read more

Walked in with my sister in law for 2 pedicures and there was no wait. It's located in the Annapolis Mall near the Container store. The nail bar is pretty big. The massage chairs were great and we were seated in a private area. I asked for a gel pedicure but they didn't ask what type of pedicure I wanted, so that stinks. I would have gotten some add ons like the parrafin wax but only my my sis in law was given the menu of options. Service was friendly, the process was quick and we had a relaxing time, however. They offer drinks and snacks. Seems like a good quality place and I would return for sure. read more

This nail salon was a great find. In the Annapolis Mall near the Container Store, they took walk ins so I walked in. Kelly gave me the best manicure of my life. I'm saying this because it was almost 3 weeks ago and my nails still look great! I've never had a manicure look this good for this long from any other manicurist. Also they are artists! 7/10. This review was made after the visit, as my experience here still bothers me to this day. Service was great, customer service experience was not. I was spoken badly about in their Native tongue and I'll explain. The lady who did my pedicure was very sweet, very gentle. The regular polish on my toes lasted about 2.5 weeks but I'm also not a sandal or flip-flop girl so that might've helped! They scrubbed my legs and the soak was pleasant... She also offered me refreshments... Cảm ơn nhiều Chi! I also bought their manicure (polish) service, but since the salon just opened they were offering a 20% off on everything so they were understaffed and overwhelmed with walk-ins; I waited about 10-15 minutes to get off the pedicure chair for my manicure. When I had gotten up, I forgot the bottle of polish was in my lap, it fell and shattered on the floor - honest and genuine mistake, I felt terrible. I didn't want anyone else to clean it up for me but the other ladies there insisted I stayed away from the mess as the glass could cut me. Very thoughtful. But to make me feel worse, the lady who was doing my manicure (which I assumed was also the owner / co-owner since she was running around and delegating everyone) was speaking about me in Vietnamese**... (**Little did she know, I am too Vietnamese, it is my native tongue) She said (translated into English) that I "had broke the whole nail polish bottle and made a mess, and that they were so busy they didn't have anyone or the time to clean it" (which I understood, that's why I wanted to clean it myself). She kept repeating this to everyone else, who stayed silent while she expressed her irritation with me. When she started my manicure, it was very rushed. I don't get my nails done often, but my mother was a Nail Technician so I'm more than familiar with the process. She took my cuticles off by scraping them horizontally across my nail with the cuticle cutter instead of pushing them back with the cuticle pusher and trimming off the dead cells. It left my nail bed scratched/uneven and I had hang nails the following days after. The water for my hands was also cold. She did not buff my nails, nor did she cut away at the dead skin surrounding them. The most she did was file them down and get the stuff from under my nails. Throughout the manicure, she tried starting typical conversation of "Where are you from; how old are you?" And I answered back to her in Vietnamese: "Em hai mươi ba tuổi, sinh ra ở Annapolis" (I am 23 years old and I was born in Annapolis). After realizing I understood her language, she changed her attitude with me; becoming very accommodating, patient, and friendly... I'm a car mechanic so the sides and corners of nails are always dirty with grime and oil. She then tried extra hard to clean them up but I told her not to worry about it at that point... I was very uncomfortable. I also told her I no longer wanted my nails polish after seeing her demeanor and attitude change when she realized I spoke Vietnamese but she kept trying to get me to pick another color, which I did not want to touch another polish bottle. I didn't mind waiting for my manicure - like I said they were busy and understaffed.. but before you charge someone for a lack-luster manicure service and talking about them behind their back, maybe try to understand we're all human... mistakes happen... All the other ladies and gentlemen in there were great. I wish I had gotten the name of the lady who spoke about me, but I'm sure if you visit this store, you'll know exactly who I'm talking about. I don't normally post reviews like this, because not everyone who works at a nail salon are likely to talk about you, because you know, they shouldn't. And I'm sure they perform great manicure services! That day just wasn't to expectation, which is upsetting because as stated before, I don't get my nails done often... and the one time I did, I had an awful customer service experience. I just paid $150 plus tip for two gel pedicures and 1 gel manicure. My sister and I were a walk-in on 11/4 at about 7:15pm. The place was dead and the employees seemed happy to have guests come in as they were going to be opened for almost another 2 hours. While I was getting my pedicure, another employee comes to take off the little bit of chipped non-gel nail polish off of a few of my nails that still have polish. I thought oh this is nice, my nails will be prepped for when I get in the manicure chair. Well he then continues to do my "manicure" from the chair! Very uncomfortable and not relaxing. Also not a great or even good job on my nails. I love going to Voorpret Nail Bar. The staff is very pleasant and the atmosphere has me relaxed and comfortable. The staff are always pleasant and professional. Jennifer is the tech that I use. She has been doing my nails for nearly 10 years, if not more. She is not just my nail tech, but she is my friend. I am so glad that she is in this place and her salon experience is a 5+ in my book. I think you have to know who to go to here. I'm all for people learning but practice on somebody else! So I came in to get my nails and feet don't and get my daughter a manicure. I'll start with my daughter because she's a child and she didn't even like it. So my daughter showed them a picture of the design she wanted they said they could do it so I said cool let's go here the design was nothing like what my daughter asked for. So she's pretty bummed out about that but they guy who did her nails was still learning she said he re did her design like 3 times then finally told her he could do it and he was gonna free style it . Next me! The girl that did my pedicure did great so she asked if I wanted my nails too so I'm like sure I think I want an overlay she clearly couldn't do it as she was asking the manager for help so the manager clearly didn't wanna do my nails so she thinks she's talking me into the dip powder but as I see she didn't wanna do my nails I was like just do the dip so the girl that did my pedicure who's clearly new nervous and learning did my dip but I can definitely tell she didn't know the steps fully but I was ready to go so I didn't have time to complain. But my nails that needed tips are bumpy and I don't like it but I lived too far and was ready to go but I won't EVER go back there they got me for my 100 something dollars but no this place isn't for me and like I said in the beginning it could be because I'm not familiar with them and didn't know who to go to. read more

this place gave me some of the worst nails of my life and they don't do refunds but will upcharge you on a terrible job. i showed them my inspiration picture and they gave me something that looks so terrible. when i asked for a refund they denied me and failed to consider how poorly my nails were done. i will not be going back EVER and do NOT recommend this place. read more

Voorpret nail Bar is the best nail salon I have been to. It is clean, the staff is very friendly and accommodating and they offer a wide range of services to choose from. There are literally thousands of nail colors to choose from. Try this nail bar and you will not be disappointed. I saw Vicky and she always has a new idea for my nails (color and design) and is well versed on the latest trends. In my opinion she is the best! She takes her time and it shows when she is finished.
